Am I right in thinking the only difference between doing patrols and events on Mars compared to Earth is the extra experience you get whilst killing things? Or do the patrols reward more experience as well?

It does seem odd that there's very little incentive to do the harder outdoor content compared with just swinging around doing patrols and events on earth...

How does the Silvered Hushwind compare to the Shingen-E? Stats seem fairly similar, but is it in action?

I don't know if it's better but it's good enough for me. I got this before a Shingen ever came across me so it's been my go to gun. It has worked pretty well for me, I like the feel of it.

one obviously modded his trophies or whatever. The other one has some strange time stamps going on with his trophies. Like some that shouldnt be unlocking near each other, unlocking near each other. It also looks like he was unlocking trophies for Madden and Destiny at around the same time, unless there are multiple people using that account.

Both are definitely modded.

That's a good point about the House of Kings could be a third DLC for all we know. I kind of figured the Dark Below story, “The Seeding” sounds like it may be the Hive in the Jovian Complex. Why do you think it's a Strike? Also, just going by the "Vault" name, I'm guessing the Seraphim Vault is a Raid. Maybe the House of Wolves and the House of Kings come together there for a rumble.

The same DB content that all of this stuff was mined from lists The Jovian Complex as the name of an upcoming strike, as well as one on Mars: "The Hypogeum".

I doubt the House of Kings is related to a third DLC since there'd be no reason for Bungie to populate King's Watch with them if that content was so far off.

Oh wow guys: So I went back to tower to get my ascended shard for beating a public event and the post master had a lost legendary engram that I must have missed somehow (it was a helmet). I was like okay w/e. Took it to the troll and it ended up being some kind of Exotic helmet for the hunter with a life form growing out of it.

It's called Achlyophage Symbiote.

I wanted the Splinter Cell one, but this is cool too!

Both are extremely viable in MP.

To me my Shingen E won out only due to the tiny red dot scope I could get on it versus the Silvered.

Try both. You should do fine on either to accumulate the same amount of k/d.

from Volck-00 on Reddit:

Today, while indulging in the ritual of the Cave of Treasures, in that most ancient part of Old Russia known as Skywatch, with several fine compatriots of mine, there happened upon us a fresh young knave, barely level 8 was he.

He crept, rather cautiously, across the snowy rock and dried grass to the place where we stood all in a line, ominous and foreboding, like a firing squad readying our rifles for a well-rehearsed execution, and eventually came to sit himself upon the nearby rock.

Quite bewildered, he watched as we continued our methodical and surgical practice until such time when, finding no answers within his own inexperienced mind, he thought to pose a question to us.

"Why do you shoot at this cave?" he queried. "Has it payed you some great insult? Surely it is but a damp hole in the ground, unremarkable as any other. Pray then, what wrong has it done to deserve such a harsh and dutifully exacted vengeance?"

All at once we were taken quite aback, as puzzled at his question as he was with our work. Then, with a quick glance to one another, we laughed in unison; a knowing and admittedly patronizing laugh.

"Do not question it." I beseeched him. "Simply join us, if you are so curious."

He seemed troubled by this for a moment, like a frightened animal; uncertain of the intentions of the one who would offer it a meal so freely and without expectation of repayment. At last, he stood as cautiously as he had crept to this place and joined us in our line, the shortest and least impressive among us but, undoubtedly, the boldest.

As we opened fire once more, I was sure that each one among us was still smiling beneath his mask, that nostalgic and intoxicated grin, soaked with memories of the days when we were so naive as this young squire.

Together, we knew that one day, he too would stand where we stood, long after our bones had been scattered across the many worlds we'd sworn to protect, and at this time he might also think fondly of his earlier days.

He would joyfully reminisce about the days before he knew the pains of unjustly receiving a blue object from a legendary purple engram and before he was gifted his hate for the one they curse in the blackest and foulest tongues of the land, from the highest spires of the gilded Tower, to the lowest and darkest pits of the Last City below.

That foul trickster, that hooded demon...

"Cryptarch", they would hiss, and his very fibers shook with all the terrors of a thousand unrequited souls, longing for exotics. For now, he knew not what it meant. For now, it seemed, ignorance was truly bliss.

This is probably the best looking ship I've found so far. Got from turning in some crucible bounties last night.

I found that one last night, I think in a random chest on the moon. It does look great.

Also got my first exotic, and my first non-rare item from a legendary engram, no less:

I'm not too excited about some of the abilities, but hey, exotic! Tripmines last longer, special weapons reload faster, and more super energy from grenade kills. Also bumped me from my seemingly endless level 24 purgatory.

I got that from the Nightfall but I'm a Titan. I have a level 5 Awoken Female Hunter that will enjoy it soon enough. Same with legendary gauntlets and boots. Lucky her!

Just hit 27, Crucible Rank 2, and Vanguard Rank 3.

Got this sweet scarf to tide me over until the Speaker gets my cloak back in stock

Love the helm too, this is making this shader worthwhile until I get one I actually like

And this was my Vanguard rank reward:

Made some progress on both of my exotic bounties as well.

You guys fix the loot system, I'll just be... over here.

Gotta walk a school of puppies, then I'm looking for brave souls to do the nightfall. let's fucking gooooooo

That's pretty much right. Bladedancers need only become button mashers as soon as they pop their super. More annoyingly, the blink jump (also available to warlocks but not nearly as abusable) encourages stereotypical shooter play. (i.e. if you're being shot or see an opposing player, start jumping like a knob) Also, for campers, there's the option for stealth camo when crouching.

The camo has a time limit, and blinking is better used going directions. Also with blink you can't make all the jumps to get around places like you can with a traditional double jump. Not to mention that you can only blink twice before having to wait a few seconds for it to be usable again and are stuck with normal jump range. A shotgun in close range will still one shot a blade dancing blade dancer as there is no bonus armor to it unlike some other supers.

Got my second legendary weapon! Doctor Nope. Recoil's a bitch and a half, but when I get that stability upgrade, this thing is going to be a monster. Not so sure about the special ability.

Still, hoping for a pulse rifle soon.

Never mind. I think I'm gonna dismantle the Final Boss sniper rifle. The one the Vanguards have for sale shits all over it in every possible way.

Okay, now I don't know what to think. Could they really be holding back and open new areas in the coming months? But if they do wouldn't that devalue the expansions that may only be a few more story areas? I don't want to get my hopes up.

If I could pick an Exotic weapon I've seen that I wish I could have:

Hawkmoon

That thing is a monster! I would love that for PvE content...maybe PvP too, but I'm an AR kind of guy in PvP. :(

yeah and I personally have no interest in that weapon -_-

I haven't seen any Exotics that come close to its...exoticness. Is there any other Exotics worth two tosses that can trump the Hawkmoon?

I'm still unsure what is the best warlock Exotic, Titan, and Hunter for a body piece.

I am leaning towards the Warlock "praise the sun" though...

I'm officially fed up with never getting remotely decent loot ever so time to try this stupid cheap loot cave thing out. It's ridiculous that I've been 20 for multiple play sessions because the game absolutely refuses to give me armor with light points no matter how many strike missions I complete. Meanwhile, my buddy playing with me the entire time and doing nothing different, gets enough to level from 20-22 in ONE play session. WTF, Bungles? I just want to get around 22 with decent stuff so I can handle the weekly strikes and I imagine from there I'll start getting better rewards more frequently as I build up to tackling Raids. Having to wait to build up Vanguard Marks and Rep wouldn't be bad if everyone was in the same boat but all my buddies have soared past me and I can't handle the content they can...

I timed it, and it doesn't. I got the 100 kill bounty done in less than 2 minutes at the cave. Each run at the hive is about 20 seconds, then an extra 10 seconds for loading screens, waiting for the door to open, etc. And you get about 17 kills per run there. So 17 kills every 30 seconds is about 70 kills every 2 minutes.

I would encourage you to actually time it with a stopwatch over a 5 minute period. The cave is 100% better.

It depends alot on HOW you play. 17 kills per run at the hive gate is not much. I get an average of 23-25 per run. If you optimize your killing and where to throw grenades etc. so you cut the way off for all those thralls trying to run past that big rock and attack you from behind you will get alot more than 17 kills. Loot cave seems cool also don't get me wrong but imo (and yes I do think farming in general is rather boring) loot cave is EXTRA boring.

I like it too as a way to actually have players look different as most games, regardless of the amount of items, end up with everyone having the same gear eventually. The thing is.. having one time only availability for gear is a risky venture because it angers a lot of people who don't have the time to participate for whatever reason.
I figured you were cool with it too after reading your first post. I agree that there is risk involved on Bungie's part, but it does benefit the patient players (and those with more flexible schedules). I'm glad I'm not near maxed out on my Warlock. I wish I had more time to play and I definitely desire to be better at Crucible, but my slow progress is actually keeping me more engaged in the game. When something like Iron Banner comes along, I'll make time for it like I would any other part of my life I enjoy. The people who are probably most frustrated with things not being fully unlocked all the time are those who have had the time/talent to blast through the game and are now getting bored with it.

Yeah, I want that and I haven't even started a Hunter yet. I was obsessed with symbiotic relationships when I was studying ecology to the point that I created a lichen field guide of the Sonoran Desert when I lived in Tucson. That helmet fits into that vein of my nerdom.

That doesn't change the fact that the subclass encourages spammy play and puts PVP on easy mode for the unskilled.

Yeah I gave it a go in Control. It's pretty nice, handles like the Shingen which I like alot. Only thing giving me pause is that slower fire when aimed upgrade......can I just skip that? I've never had to think about that before. I really don't want the fire to slow down when ads, that'l ruin it for me in PvP.....but it's top damage output is greater than my Shingen, something I badly need in PvE.

What a stupid upgrade.

So has anyone read the grimoire card major spoilers about
Rasputin realizing it can't defeat The Darkness and killing humanity and creating the collapse so as to survive?

Kinda puts a few events in the story in perspective, in a bit of a forboding way.

Which card is this?

As with all things video game related, this is always the wisest course of action :)

You figure that each expansion will likely have 3-4 story missions, a strike (or two), a number of new gear, and possibly a raid for one or both of them? That's probably worth the $20/$17.50 (if you bought the pass) asking price for each to a lot of people.

I honestly have zero idea what Bungie's plan is in terms of rolling out content. What I do know is that they seem to want to give things out in bits and pieces to keep people engaged with the game and to blunt sell-backs, so holding some of that stuff in Old Russia for opening up down the line-- without further purchase-- is certainly feasible, despite our collective cynic-alarms going off because of who Bungie's partner is with Destiny.
