was watching the trailer for Axis on comicvine (lol trailer for comic books, but ok) and it said
Mags joins up with Red Skull
, so he's a bad guy again?

Also why is Havok's face all fucked up? I do like that he's being more used these days at least, always a fan of him

Magneto attempted to break into Skull's mutant concentration camp in Genosha and kill him but ended up getting beaten up by his mutants from the first Uncanny Avengers arc. I imagine he will end up having to go along with whatever the Skull has planned until he gets a real shot at killing him.

I think his current methods are more along the lines of Wolverine's X-Force team...which will probably push him back into villain territory at some point. He also recently acquired the means to endlessly clone the Marauders which should give an idea of his current mindset.

Havok's face got burned off fighting a Celestial powered Kang in Uncanny Avengers

Decided to finally email IST about that Hellboy Library Edition Vol. #4. Now to see if they get back to me... I'm pretty patient, but it's definitely been a while. :(

Man, was I pleasantly surprised to see
Doctor Destiny
in JLD book three. He was so good back in
The Sandman
.

Hawkeye book two continues to impress as well, although issue 10's artwork pulled me out of it a bit.

Oh my goodness. Just read the first three issues of volume 2 of Astro City that I got from the library. That was SO GOOD. Incredible slice-of-life stories in a superhero world. The stories were so real and so heartwarming and so great.
I can't believe I waited so long to check this series out. It just became one of my top priorities. I'll definitely have to order some of the other trades.
Man, that is great stuff.

Awesome! I'm glad it all arrived safe and sound. Enjoy!

Thanks!

So I spent the night reading through 30 issues of Morning Glories and....HOLY SHIT IS THIS SERIES AWESOME LIKE WTF IS EVEN GOING IN THIS BOOK. It's like one mind fuck after another with this series and EVERY ISSUE ends on a cliffhanger that makes me hungry for more I kept promising myself that this was going to be my last issue for the night but the the cliffhanger pops up and I'm right on to the next one.

Ugh! I also realize this is a series that I would have to read in trade I couldn't survive if I had to wait a month for each issue.

I am re reading my Deadly Class Trade and I have come to the conclusion that this is my favorite book of the year thus far. The road trip / Vegas issues in particular were stellar. I love most of the characters and just want to see them doing shit. Fantastic book. It's rare I go back and read a trade again but I wanted a refresher before I started reading my second volume issues.

The first issue was great but it didn't really give a good idea of what the next few issues would be about. I am constantly surprised from page to page. It's turned into a real diamond.

#YearofRemender indeed.

Deadly Class is definitely one of my favorite books. It's so well written, and there's always interesting shit going on. Most recent issue was nuts.

I'm so excited to read Deadly Class when it goes to OHC. It sounds like it's right up my alley.

Also, Messi, as a slice-of-life fan, you should definitely read Astro City.

Man, that is great stuff.

Ok, we can be friends again.

WAT? It's not all slice-of-life, though. It's still essentially a cape book. It just delves into slice-of-life territory on occasion.

Hmm. Well, all three issues I read so far were 80% slice-of-life. The superhero stuff was just to add context to the slice-of-life. It veers away from that?

Ok, we can be friends again.

Thank goodness. Let's just forget this Nightly News thing happened and start new.

If you're talking about the first three issues of the newest series, then yeah. Those jump around (and were very good) but it settles into longer story arcs after that.

It's a good mix, it goes between slice of life stories about the citizens of the city and stories about the heroes proper.

Anybody here read the Sons of Anarchy comics?

I'm a fan of the series and saw the first TPB comes out this week. Not sure if want.

Also, Batman: Gordon of Gotham TPB comes out. It includes Gordon of Gotham 1-4, GCPD 1-4, and Gordon's Law 1-4. Is that one any good?

Volume 2, the "Family Album" TPB is what I started reading. But ah, gotcha. Good to know.

Ah, cool.
And when you say stories about the heroes proper, are you including stories like the one about Astra and hopscotch? Or are they more typical superhero stories?
Even though Astra is a superhero and the story focused on her, it was still very slice-of-life and really great.

No matter what, I'm still super excited to read the rest of this TPB. Busiek's writing is fantastic.

WOO! Just got confirmation that I'm gonna be going to Long Beach Comic Con!

And I've got some nice extra cash on hand too, thanks to rich, slightly drunk old men who like to tip in hundred dollar bills to hear a few more blues/jazz covers.
Just realized that that sentence probably seemed like it was going to end badly.

ComicsGAF, help me out here. What should I know before reading Crisis on Infinite Earths?

I've really only read the DC Elseworld/spinoff stuff (Justice, Red Son, Birthright, Kingdom Come) so far, but now that I was able to get the Infinite Crisis omnibus, I figured it was time to read the mainline DC stuff.

So...yeah. There's multiple Superman/Batman/WW? Multiple Earths? I just want a little heads up so that I'm not confused.

thanks!

It's a mix of straight up super hero stories that parallel the well known heroes. And other times it's slice of life or one off single stories of fringe heroes. For example vol 2 confessions is one of the strongest arcs in the series and it's basically pure super heroes

She Hulk #7 and Grayson #2 were next up on the reading list, both were mildly good. I think Grayson would benefit without having to include Batman, maybe not in sales, but i feel its holding back the story.

The important question is how many issues is Dick going to have to suffer blue balls until his handler breaks protocol and gives him some relief?

There were so many suggestive words in that sentence I surprised myself.

I was thinking about going with my gf but we may just save our money and go to Wrestlemania instead.

So what did ComicGAF think of Gotham? I thought it was pretty cool. A few Arrow quality cheesy moments but overall, a fun start.

I liked it. Not OMG-amazing or anything, but I liked it enough to continue with the series for the time being.

Now tomorrow night, Agents of SHIELD premiere. Wheeeeeeeeee.

anyone remembers Mutant X? with Havok stuck in a alternate dimension? That was a fun book :/

http://www.newsarama.com/22203-before-multiversity-captain-carrot-s-creator-looks-back.html

The original creator dissing DC about butchering his series and Morrison's take on Captain Carrot.
That really just boils down to "yeah I don't really like what they did there"
What an ass. Another Grant Morrison drug usage stab. How original.
i dunno that's a light stab. that's like, a poke at best.
As for Multiversity, I realize it's not “my” Captain Carrot but I've yet to read the first issue. (Is he still writing while on LSD? As a devoted fan of Hunter S. Thompson – I even edited an HST-themed underground comix titled FEAR AND LAUGHTER – I certainly hope so.)
