So what do we know about the first expansion - The Dark Below?

Is it going to add a new planet? New story details? New enemies? Is it going to expand the playable area of an already existing planet?

I can't google to find out while at work :\

We dont know yet

I can't google to find out while at work :

We know it takes place on the moon. It will have new story, strikes, a raid, multiplayer maps and new gear.

For the final boss of the raid, anyone have some good strategies? I have a few but would like more.

1)
For the people going in the portal, the two non-relic carriers can do a little bit of damage on the mobs inside. I like Hunters with Gunslinger here. Some folks use the Golden Gun on the oracle while the second person helps the relic carrier kill trash until the Golden Gun user is out of bullets. Another thing I've used is having one person carry a void rocket launcher and shoot the minotaur, softening him up for the relic carrier to kill.

However, I'd like to see if a Golden Gun could be used on the Hobgoblins/Minotaur.

2)
People opening and defending the portals can stand in the middle platform whenever the Supplicants come out. The boss isn't shooting at this time. This way, you can take shots at the Supplicants without worrying about them blowing up on you.

A bit of theorycrafting here: Is it possible for two people to stand on the platform the entire time once the boss sends the portal team back in time? I ask this because there's a few seconds where Time's Vengeance is on but the boss is just standing still. In that timeframe, the portal people could exit, cleanse, jump out onto the middle platform, and the relic holder can pop the cleanse shield. Everyone jumps into the shield and blast the boss with 1 or 2 killing remaining Supplicants. Then, when the buff's timer is almost up, the portal team heads to the back of the room. Every time the buff ends, the portal team is almost instantly transported and the boss is back to idling/not shooting - meaning the middle platform is safe besides Supplicants taking pot-shots like they usually do.

What do you guys think? Give me some more advice too. So far, I've got every encounter down pat. I've cleared the final boss before, but I'm trying to make it less hectic.

sounds like it could work. whenever i'd run this part, the home team would run into trouble with the supplicants and it'd set us back. i usually do fine in the portal unless the oracle guys are using slow weapons and not helping with the adds

relic guy can take out the adds himself if he's a high level. night and day difference when i'm holding the shield as a 26 and a 28.

Also, I'm thinking the Flawless raider trophy is very possible if folks don't die in
the templar/oracle parts.

intentional wipes aside, i didn't die from mobs until the atheon battle in the raid i attempted earlier. it's very doable if everyone knows the encounters and is properly geared. the only thing that will impede your progress are glitches.

Looked like way too much work. All you need to do is stay at the top and not drop down into the boss arena. You get a spawning Minotaur behind you to deal with but other than that the boss is a cake walk.

Do you find that easier than doing the method where you drop down and hide behind the pillar right behind where you drop down at? Going to be doing this tonight with some friends, and we'd been advised to do the pillar thing because the Minotaur was a pain in the ass. Does he not spawn that often?

Taking intention aside for a second, there are a multitude of those types of posts proclaiming who people should or should not listen to and how others should or should not play. I wasn't lobbing it at you specifically. It happens here a lot and it gets old.

I will agree with that. I simply was trying to get this kid (who was being a bitch in his comment) to maybe listen to someone who has been very helpful here. That's all. If he doesn't want the help, I literally could not care any less.

Had a real fun evening with doomquake doing missions / breaking the game / hitting level 28. Working incredibly well together despite me not being able to use headset in my current location.

People hating on the game need to be more social and make some friends, it's good on your own but amazing with others.

Honestly, there are some people like me who are introverts. It requires a lot of energy to go out there and start making friends for certain games. Before Destiny came out I knew that it would require heavy socialization and that was one of the reasons I didn't like it. By the time I come back from work, I am drained from being around people all day and need to "recharge."

Once I impulsively purchased Destiny I did play alone a lot, yet I knew I had to make friends to get all of the content. At this point I'm happy to have met some cool guys and gals to play with, but it was hard getting there. I'm very sociable and friendly but still a strong introvert at the core and this game truly made me come out of my shell, so to say.

Point is, it's not easy for everyone to just be social and make friends. I still wish there was matchmaking for everything, because there are days where I'm just too tired to socialize. Anyone that is not introverted might think that's weird, but that's how it is for us. Any social activity drains the energy meter. In some ways, it does kinda suck.

So reading the reddit destiny section it seems people are catching the bounties early enough to get them twice in a day. Anyone else know about this?

I've had it happen a few times. Bounties refresh at 5am ET. I've been up that late and cleared a few, and they've respawned later in the day. I didn't pay attention to time of day though. PEACE.

I'm a level 27 and I use the relics. Sometimes I can one-shot the Goblins and Hobogoblins. However, if a higher level can make that whole part easier if they use the relic, then I'm all for it.

A titan throwing a flash grenade does wonders in the portals, but fighting the minotaur to me is a crap-shoot. If I can't stun-lock him by jumping above him and hitting R2 in a rhythm, then I'm dead. Also, I think it helps to use the relic Super against it, though I don't do it normally. I probably should.

Also, you cheese the templar fight too? We did and it makes it a breeze. However, I think the templar fight easier than the parts preceeding it and have killed it like you're supposed to. I can see this being patched out.

The minotaur is piss easy if you have void weapons. He gets even easier after the boss spawns for whatever reason.

I'm exactly the same way, especially with the "too tired from being around people to have the energy after work to meet people" aspect. That being said, of you're looking for one more person to play with, feel free to hit me up.

You apparently have to be the person who actually deals the killing blow.

They do, but you need the final blow.

You probably didn't get the final shot in, thats what counts towards the bounty.

Is there any way to get a walker solo? The weekly strike is the only place I can think of where I can be assured to be solo but its not that mission this week. I can't think of any other levels that have a Devil Walker in them.

Public event in the Divide on Earth. Spawns at 10-15 and 40-45 on the hour.

Already did it twice and he'll be up again in about 15 min

He spawns in patrol mode in the same spot he does for Devils Lair, so you can solo it there as long as other people haven't also figured it out yet

Unfortunately, I am on the Xbox :( It's nice you understand though. A lot of people in my life don't get it when I tell them I have to recharge. Though, by now my old friends do know not to bother me on Sunday because I need at least one full day to be alone.

Someone earlier mentioned that it's instanced for everyone.

You can
cheese the Templar fight? What do you do?

Master of the Sparrow!
that Patience and Time sniper rifle..wtf!

I got this guy last night for reaching Vanguard rank 3

*Disregard beta stats. Gun does 248/300

Super_pox_vlo.png

Radar stays active while ADS, extended mags, ricochet bullets.

Fires a bit slow for PvP but should be great for PvE, which I primarily play.

I'll start working on it as soon as I unlock my auto-reload for my Bad JuJu

This game badly wants me to become a Warlock for my secondary class but I was actually leaning on the Titan for that.

How long did it take for you guys too actually get some legendary gear for your specific class?

This is fucking ridiculous.

Three legendary items over the course of 12 hours and they were all for a Warlock class.

My hunter gets absolutely no love.

I have two pair of Hunter boots for my Titan though!

Love it. Want it.

Guys, are the legendary Sparrows much better than the basic one I got through the story? I've been in the mood for a new sparrow, but their pricey.

yeah, if you read the thread further, i've already had this discussion with someone a bit more helpful, thanks though.
I'm very active in this thread but can't stay on top of literally every page... if you need help, that's exactly what I can offer. I apologize for being dismissive, but you didn't ask for help. :-/ You just said "I've heard this, so I think I'm going back to other games." The notion that the best, most effective, or most time-efficient way to play this game involves the Skywatch cave is something that can do legitimate harm to players' experiences. At this point, even though I have no problem with the farm itself whatsoever, I just want to dismantle that concept especially for new players or new level 20s.
Dude, Hawkian is one of the most helpful posters in this thread. I have his Destiny guide saved on my flash drive for my own reference.
I really appreciate that. Every comment I get like this reminds me why I spend the effort on stuff like that. I really love this community and want it to thrive, and beyond the game's various perfectly notable flaws there's a lot of plain old misunderstanding still out there.
Calling Hawkian.... Calling Hawkian
thanks for reposting. i bookmarked this and shared it with friends. very simple and comprehensive guide, well done Hawkian!
Thank you verrrry much guys. I'm working on Part 3 now based on my experience getting to level 28, as well as how to potentially get all the way to 29, with 0% RNG loot required.
