So what's the best gear (apart from raid gear) Queens? Crucible? Dead Orbit? Vanguard? Or Future War?

It's all the same defense and light wise. Only difference is the +strength/discipline/intellect stats along with the other modifiers. So basically go with ones that have stats beneficial to your build.

I think that Dead Orbit/Future War/New Monarchy/Vanguard/Crucible are pretty even gear-wise, the factions just bring different primary stats to the gear. So for example, if you want an Intellect/Strength build you should hit up New Monarchy unless the Vanguard/Crucible vendors have an Int/Str buy you fancy that day.

As far as Queens gear goes, I think its a tidbit weaker defense-wise than most vendor chest/helm equivalents but I could be wrong.

I suppose I've gotten lucky with the RNG. I've only gotten four purple engrams, but three of them have turned into legendary weapons. The Grim Citizen (auto rifle), Lord High Fixer (hand cannon), and Exodus Plan (void rocket launcher). Finished the queen missions and have a legendary helmet and chest piece. Working on my Vanguard rank to get boots and gauntlets. Argh. Still need to try Nightfall and VoG.

Nah, it's all the same. Just a question of build.

Jesus Christ the Mars Garden spire Queen mission is ridiculous solo. The Venus Gate Lord one was a cakewalk, but the amount of shielded Psions running around is nuts.

You can
cheese the Templar fight? What do you do?

Jerek showed me this and it's nuts.

1)
Everyone die except the person who will hold the relic. They respawn on that ledge and stay up there the whole fight.

2)
The relic holder makes sure they have their glide/jump/whatever set to where they get the highest jumps possible. For Warlocks, you can get an extra boost when you do the glide ability. Just check and read the specs.

3)
The relic holder grabs the relic and the fight begins. If you're the relic holder, you jump on to this small tower on the right of you (from the spawn area, this tower would be on the direct left). Then you jump onto a taller tower, and then you turn around and jump toward the closest tower to the spawn area. There's a small light on this tower, and if you jump toward it, you'll land on a small ledge. From this small ledge, jump to where the team has spawned. Use the relic's R1 air attack to get extra air-time.

4)
When you're up here with the relic, you can aim and use the super on the boss to knock out its shields, and cleanse the team when need be. Everyone is pretty much safe unless they fall off, get hit with the templar's splash damage, or you miss a cleanse. If the boss enrages, a lot more cleanses will be needed.

I recorded a video of this. I can try and upload it later tonight.

Unless they can shoot lasers, seems like a waste of glimmer/materials.

With so many value caps in this game it's worth buying one when there's nothing else for the week IMO.

When I started a new character I could feel the slower speed difference between the starting sparrow and the 90 speed model, so the 100 speed sparrow from the NPC will have a noticeable difference.

I'm a level 27 and I use the relics. Sometimes I can one-shot the Goblins and Hobogoblins. However, if a higher level can make that whole part easier if they use the relic, then I'm all for it.

A titan throwing a flash grenade does wonders in the portals, but fighting the minotaur to me is a crap-shoot. If I can't stun-lock him by jumping above him and hitting R2 in a rhythm, then I'm dead. Also, I think it helps to use the relic Super against it, though I don't do it normally. I probably should.

Also, you cheese the templar fight too? We did and it makes it a breeze. However, I think the templar fight easier than the parts preceeding it and have killed it like you're supposed to. I can see this being patched out.

The minotaur is piss easy if you have void weapons. He gets even easier after the boss spawns for whatever reason.

definitely don't want to be less than 27 in the raid. again, once you know the encounters it's just a matter of throwing bullets at adds and staying alive. much easier to manage that when you level higher. minotaurs are a slam and a whack as a 28 with the relic, but always helps to have a warlock nova bomb and then void rocket the adds and be done with it.

we didn't cheese that fight, but my group took out the oracles this time (i think you were with me in the first run where we ignored the oracles and just cleansed instead). if you can call out the oracles, it's much easier to be spread around the arena (not near their spawns though like some guides suggest).

Void weapon will eat their shield REAL fast, followed by 2-3 pops from a Hand Cannon. :)

Epic modifier really forces you to play smart. I find it absolutely superb.

Uh "lucky" doesn't even do what happened for you justice. I'd call it a God damn miracle.

Also, can you complete the nightfall more than once for a chance at exotics/legendaries again or do you only get rewards once? Anyone do it more than once yet?

Found myself hoarding other elemental weapons even if they're weaker just to eat the shields. Wish it was easier to switch Primaries.

WTF?! lol holy shit. I need a video of this so please upload it at some point.

We just do it the normal way and we don't even
block him from teleporting since we mess that up whenever we try it :P

Okay Bungie, I have to admit, the raid is pretty fun. This Queen's Bounty stuff actually sucks (no specific quests for it? really?), and I can already tell Bungie is going the route of giving everyone legendary items (a good move since high level content requires at least light 26), but I just hope there's a reason to grind out loot. By that I mean, if they just give everyone legendary items, then what incentive does anyone have to grind up faction points/strange coins/etc?

Got to level 24 last night so the pop up for Nightfall came up explaining what it is. But when I hover over it on the left side of the screen when in orbit it says I can't do it because my gear is too weak. Why would it tell me I can do it now but then not let me do it?

It was really nice to be able to help my two level 21 friends through two Queen's Wrath missions to get them immediately up to 24 so that we can do the Heroic strike.

Oh - Vault of Glass question.

The Oracle portion of the Templar fight...Do you just have to stay alive and kill the Oracles as soon as they spawn for a while? We tried it last night and were running into issues when we didn't kill an Oracle fast enough. If that happened, we all got marked and died. Seems pretty nuts that you can basically slip up one time and fail...Unless there's a mechanic we missed.

Once you finish that portion of the fight, do you hit a checkpoint like you do after protecting the confluxex?

Anybody trying to get a party together for the raid? I'm a level 28 Titan with both Defender and Striker maxed out and all legendary and exotic weapons and gear. Hit me up on here or at Xbl Xzilerate (Xbox One) if interested.

Yes, but I am still jealous about the sparrow rewarded for raids!

Unfortunately, the rewards for nightfall are only once a week.

I'm starting to think that no matter the class you play, you think 1 of the other two classes are OP.

My buddy plays hunter, and he get's incredibly frustrated with titan super shield mode and shoulder dash.

Even though I'm proposing this, I don't believe that anything seems to be too OP. I get frustrated when I die, but I actually think the balancing is pretty decent SPECIAL-WISE.

It seems like on every page someone is in here commenting on how one class is OP.

I guess I've never considered the others OP, but I guess I never considered warlock being more OP than others, at best just even, so it surprised me when that came up as being potentially OP.

edit: my point of this being, maybe everything is balanced specialty-wise, and you guys just notice when other classes kill you more?

Cool, the marks from doing queen's bounties don't disappear when the bounties refresh. I had time to do a couple bounties yesterday and today before work but no time to play with friends at night to do the missions. So I'm glad I can save some up for the next evening I can log on.

Kill the oracles fast enough to get past that point and then there is a checkpoint. Then the boss fight begins.

So, what are your guys' favorite defender builds?

Do you pick the most defensive option everywhere or are there any certain skills you find are better than the other? For instance I’m curious if “allies gain a shield when passing through ward of dawn” > “allies inside ward of dawn have greatly increased defenses” in most scenarios.

Public event in the Divide on Earth. Spawns at 10-15 and 40-45 on the hour.

Already did it twice and he'll be up again in about 15 min

He spawns in patrol mode in the same spot he does for Devils Lair, so you can solo it there as long as other people haven't also figured it out yet

Thanks for the replies. I was trying to think of a mission or something where I could guarantee getting him solo. By the time I get home tonight there will be 20's camping the divide all hoping to take that lucky final shot. :(

Oh well, looks like that is gonna be the only way. Thanks for trying to help though. :)

it reminds me of some of the old-school halo missions.

Never played Halo outside of the first 3-4 missions of Halo 1, haha. But good on Bungie for making this a mechanic. I find it a fair level of difficulty, outside of...

Found myself hoarding other elemental weapons even if they're weaker just to eat the shields. Wish it was easier to switch Primaries.

This. Well, except I would like to be able to switch secondaries. I imagine that's what you mean. Because it's annoying as hell to juggle the various elemental weapons in a really heated fight. We were discussing this in the raid last night - let us map the D-pad buttons to various load outs. That would make things SO much better.

The Queen's Wrath missions have an Elemental Burn skull active.

You can identify the skulls active by hitting your touchpad (or whatever button it is on non ps4 systems).

They show up at the bottom left of the screen, any skull with the star, swirl, or flame is the Arc, Void, or Solar skull.

These skulls massively amplify damage from one specific element for both you and enemies. This is why you're exploding to Fallen on the first mission in the game, there's an Arc Burn skull active. Thankfully you can explode them right back with an Arc weapon.

If you don't know what element an enemy has, when you die to them, watch the upper right of the screen, it shows the element they were using. Fallen are mostly arc but the shrapnel launcher deals solar, etc.

Using the burn skulls is the fastest and easiest way to clear all of the wrath missions and the Nightfall strike.

This is also why you want to be storing away a special and heavy weapon of every element.

On top of the burn skulls, each race gains an extra shield on Epic difficulty. Fallen Shanks gain a Solar shield, Hive Knights get Arc, Vex Harpies get Arc, and Cabal Psions get Void.

You deal half damage to shields on Epic difficulty if you hit them with the wrong element, but a burn skull renders this penalty largely irrelevant.

If there is no burn skull active and you're on Epic, you need weapons of the proper elements to fight the races you're facing in any given mission, otherwise it's way more difficult than it needs to be.

I didn't even know you can block him from teleporting. We just shot him in the face until he was dead.

If you all get marked, the person with the relic can try to cleanse you. (Hold down L1 or LT? on X1) It's much easier to just kill the oracles when they pop up though. Every time you hear the sound make sure to look for one, communicate, and you'll get through it.

Fighting the flayers during the Mars strike. I blasted two over the edge with my nova bomb. One of the most glorious moments so far.

Yes.

Oh damn, we were so close to that checkpoint and had no idea if we were doing it right, hahaha. can't wait to get back in there.

I didn't even CONSIDER people didn't realize this. please accept this internet high five.

Shit, they can have it at that point? I didn't think it was available during that phase. iiiinteresting.
