Although its frustrating to be the mvp of the match and get no returns, I think honestly its better to have the loot randomized. Have you noticed that players are more or less engaged in matches? In Halo people constantly were quitting matches if their team was losing or they had terrible allies. It was really frustrating to put up with, but in Destiny I notice that it happens quite less frequently, and I think its because of the allure of potential reward at the end. Just like gambling.
I need to upload a couple of screenshots of my sucking it up in PVP and getting no loot while the top guys scored everything. It's not as if they favor the bottom-dwellers, it's just random. There's plenty of incentive (pride? extra crucible ranks?) without having to skew the actual play further by favoring the players who already dominate with the gear they already have.
 
I didn't use any shards to get to 25, but had all blues equipped fully upgraded.

I only have two pieces of gear with light. A blue chest with +7 light, and these:

I actually upgraded them twice already. I got lucky and got this off a rare engram.

It's fine if they have a chance, but it should not be totally random. A guy should not be able to join a match, go 0-0 and get an exotic when people were there the whole game. The winning team and the top 3 of that team should have a better chance at items.
 
Was really excited that I almost had level 2 Vanguard rep. Aww yeah, let's hit up the Hunter Vanguard for some legendary gear... oh wait, I already have all legendary/exotic armor (#problemseveryonewants).

Can't hit up the Quartermaster until level 3 Vanguard rep... so...

So... now what do I do? Join a faction? If so, which one is best if I primarily play PvE?

if you join a faction you stop getting reputation for vanguard and crucible. you'll still get marks but after you put on a faction bond/armband all rep goes to the faction until you take it off again.

i'd look at the equipment and see what fits your playstyle, i'm a warlock and FWC gear seems a good fit although i hate the colors :/

pretty facetious reply. I brought up pvp as an example because you claimed you had to do certain things for weapon xp, which was inaccurate.
Hrm. I like the game, but I'm not going to make excuses for the games issues. I'll acknowledge it, see what other people are doing, and keep playing it. I'm not going to shun or try to insinuate that someone is 'cheesing' a game by the actions they choose to do, from sitting in a cave to reselecting a mission over and over again until they get an easy mission.
Farming the cave is orders of magnitude less cheesy and you damn well know it. that's just a farming spot. we're talking about a guaranteed legendary/ascendant mats. Should that REALLY be as easy as absolutely possible to obtain? that's what we want? Furthermore I'm not insinuating that people are cheesing the game by rerolling... I'm saying it. They are, and there's nothing wrong with acknowledging it. I'm not even discouraging it. The game allows it, go for it. I'm saying it shouldn't allow it, it exists just as a silly loophole that should be plugged on the technical end.

The biggest impact of the loot rewards being randomized every match is indeed to merely discourage quitting.
I agree leave it random but change the screen so you only see fireteam rewards. I don't need to see what Doobiesmoker69 got with his 2 kills and 18 deaths.

Considering Bungie's past games, is anyone else as surprised at how little the vehicles factor into the game?

Bungie created a legend in the Warthog, but all of the vehicles in Destiny just kind of seem like an afterthought. Seems like it could have been such epic inclusion with replayability too.

For example, imagine a 3 man strike set in an open environment where you have access to multiple vehicle types and are trying to take down some sort of huge boss that is way too fast and lethal to take down on foot in addition to random swarms of scrub enemies. You have two guys in a warthog-like vehicle (driver/gunner) zipping around drawing the boss’s attention and evading dominant blasts while doing some but not tons of damage.

Simultaneously, you have another player on a something faster but less lethal (ghost/banshee) who really just has to avoid the boss altogether and either get to stationary weapons quickly to hit weak points or land on the beast and nail weak spots super fast before getting the hell off to avoid some sort of proximity counter measure.

It takes coordination to beat, but it can be achieved multiple ways. Maybe I’m crazy, but this is what I have wanted for years. And I actually still think they have the framework in place to maybe pull it off in a future expansion (crosses fingers!).


Bungie pls, this all sounds great. Hope they add something like that in the future


Or at least give us a big team battle game mode(without supers) that has new vehicles. They need to take advantage of some of the big slow maps like moon and bastion.


I would love a vehicle like banshee or hornet from halo.

Yeah, that's true enough. I guess it sucks since they don't offer 'PvP' gear, and offer players who just want to play PvE by locking away legendary gear behind the faction. I believe you can get it from legendary engrams but....we all know the Cryptarch hates us.

PvP is a deal of a lot slower than grinding the strike lists when it comes to leveling a weapon.

Yes, it should be easy. There is no economy in this game, and materials are already hard to get. If this game had an economy, I would understand-Getting materials easily would ruin the economy. In a game with singular loot streams....yeah, they should be easy to obtain and not behind a grind.
 
I wouldn't say it's easier. The last part with the minotaur was a kick in the balls for us, compared to last weeks "hide in the room". Some people are coming up with better strategies than we had probably. But the rest of the time leading up to the boss I would say is easier. The room with all of the wizards on the moon was harder than anything in the lead up to the nexus boss. Are you jumping down at the end though? Or staying up top when you fight the boss?

Tried both. When you jump down there's a cave you can hide in where you literally can't be hit. We had the boss to 20% on that strategy and it was going well, but we all died due to a misstep where we clumped up in the wrong spot on accident and all got hit with splash damage.

Staying up top is probably easier, but the last group I was in the person wanted to try the cave.
 
Just opened up a legendary engram. Got the Red Death O_O Wow.

for all those times RNGesus shit on me in Diablo 3... I'm being blessed in this game. 8 exotics now and working on an exotic bounty.
 
Like I said, 6 out of 8 times we don't even make it to the boss.

Just stay in the "room" right before the big wide open area with all of the servitors and kill as many enemies as you can. A sniper rifle with fire damage works great on the shanks and servitors. Also, I believe you need arc damage for the captains.

From what I've heard, sounds like the factions are PvP-focused. Is that correct? I play PvE pretty much exclusively at this point and only drop into Crucible if someone on my team wants to play.
 
lol when did I say everything needed to be easy? I run every mission I do on the highest difficulty. Why? I have no idea, dont get shit for doing it unless it's one of the weekly challenges. I just rather not spend all my time on one mission. Last night it tried to make me do the Garden spire 3 times in a row. I did it once already Bungie plz. T_T'

To be honest I think the reason it's like that is if you needed to leave the game. You won't be penalized for that.
That's a valid reason to not consume the ticket on entry. But what about having it put you in the easy ones first and then the harder ones based on how many tickets you'd already redeemed?

That sounds like a cool idea. Maybe better chance one getting 2 legendaries instead of one most of the time?

Driving a warthog on Mars, just thinking about it makes me giddy
 
I'm at work and all I'm thinking about is Destiny :(.

For the raid's final boss, I think
the best team setup for the three going through the portals is a voidwalker and a gunslinger with a third person using the relic (maybe a Sunsinger who can revive themselves if need be).

I say this because a nova bomb could wreck that minotaur and the rest of the trash in both portals. A gunslinger could use their golden gun to kill nearly everything. All of this can happen before the first oracle appears.

The people defending the portals could maybe use handcannons and sit in the center platform the whole time aside from opening the gate the time travelers are stuck in.

I think I'm onto something folks.

My strategy is to lure the minotaur with a bladedancer, shoot it's head off, then turn invisible and walk away. Just stay near it and it'll be harmless.
 
Fuck Bungie. Made the nightfall strike so hard yet it gives shit rewards. Should guarantee an exotic at least. :(
The hell did you get?

The Nightfall has amazing rewards; imo the best guaranteed rewards in the game, even totally ignoring the weeklong buff.

I think I'll try the raid again at lvl 29. Not like I have choice really. Gotta get that raid armor.

I think that's dumb. It's easily doable at level 26-27. Why spend shards on armor your going to replace with raid armor? You need to spend a crap ton of shards on the raid armor to get to level 30. Spending them on anything other than raid armor and exotic armor is dumb.
 
I seriously still can't log in to any of my characters. I get stuck at a black loading screen right after I select one. There isn't a problem on my end. Is there anybody that is having the same problem as me? I haven't been able to log in all day.
 
Lol joined StevePharmas fireteam just as they finished a queens mission. Didn't even get to see an enemy. Rewarded with supremecy and a hood

I think it would be a good idea. Pop three shots on the minotaur - doesn't matter if you kill it or not. I can take care of the rest. This might even work for the Hobogoblins if you don't mind aiming a bit. You could miss yet killing/hurting one would go a long way.

IMO, this is bullshit and should be patched. It's a guaranteed legendary, you should have to do the content set before you and succeed or lose your chance.

Doubtful, especially with randoms D/C's starting to crop up, that would make people rage even more...can't see it happening.
