I don't know what kind of crazy person is saying that Nexus is the easiest Nightfall so far. Lost 8 times so far, 6 times before even making it to the boss. And each run uses about 3-4 ammo synthesis packs. There's absolutely no way in hell this is easier than Phogoth, which was a 100% free win from start to finish.

If you're dying before the boss, then you need to just go slower and play conservatively. There's really no rush and you need to funnel/separate enemies.

Maybe they are shooting the nexus from ontop of the dome, they dont jump down, they stay above and shot him.

I did this with one friend, however, there is a pretorian that spawns regularly in the cave where you are shooting from...

Like I said, 6 out of 8 times we don't even make it to the boss.

I'm not saying it's impossible, jsut that everyone keeps calling it by far the easiest Nightfall, which it definitely is not. On Summoning Pits you can skip every single enemy except for the rune decoding waves, and Phogoth himself is a 100% free win.

right so ensuring just a single mission, rather than a selection, will be repeated is a potent balm toward your perceived issues there. I want to extend you a handshake for stretching the bounds of logic to their absolutely thinnest extremes.

Why not? Bungies already enforced the same bounties, the same strikes, and the same repetitive missions on us when it comes to grinding for weapon EXP.

I just snipe them away, don't need to get close so they spawn just snipe the gate. Pretty easy.

Yeah it isnt bad at all as long as you have a decent sniper rifle and a competent crew, but it's still more challenging than Earth where you can head straight to the crashed ship to scan and then book it to the inside of the dilapidated building and fight the boss in about three minutes.

I'm trying to understand why you have an issue with this. We've already done these missions a hand full of times. Im not running a 20min mission just to get 2 shards. When I can do one in 5-10mins. Stop telling people how to play this game. And let them do what they want.
unbelievable. not only am I not telling people not to do it, I posted step by step instructions on how to do it. do it. i'm saying the ability to reroll for the easiest content in cases of guaranteed reward like this is cheesy and should be patched within the game backend. that is my opinion and you are free to disagree and prefer everything be as easy as absolutely possible, but neither mine nor yours are more valid than the other.

weapon xp? can't you earn weapon xp by doing, um, anything? including pvp?
Thank you for saying so.

nice, which did you have?

The elemental burn changes everything; you can pull off crazy shit with fusion rifles, snipers, machine guns...

Titan, Hunter, Hunter

We all had a few special weapons with different elements and were using them appropriately. I think allot of people just fire blindly at this stuff with kinetic weapons and then complain they are bullet sponges.

Also the weapon of light perk from my Titan used with heavy weapons dropped bosses really quickly.

IMO, this is bullshit and should be patched. It's a guaranteed legendary, you should have to do the content set before you and succeed or lose your chance.

I'm really surprised that they just don't eat up the ticket (or whatever you want to call it) once you start it. Hell I actually love doing the Scourge of Winter mission with the extra challenges attached.

1 person to the wreckage, the 2nd to the computer, and the third goes for the boss. The other two will catch up and assist. Easy restoration mission.

Well, you can't get to 27 without leveling your gear, so your gear does matter.

Well of course. I just mean in terms of how much damage you take and receive in the raid. Each level does something like 20% more/less damage dealt/received. Leveling your gear is really just so you can reach a higher level.

I thought the rune decoding waves was pretty hard.

That's the easy fix, although I like the idea of a progressive challenge from easiest to hardest the more tickets you use even better.
I thought the rune decoding waves was pretty hard.
yeah I have no idea what that was about. The wizards in the summoning pits Rune room are tougher than the entirety of the Nexus Nightfall (at least if you cheese the boss from on top)

edit:: ^no gloves or boots, correct.

Was just in a crucible in which everyone was frantically tea bagging. Foregoing safety and victory to get that tea bag. People were just ignoring others to get at it. I wish I could play with these people every day.

Although its frustrating to be the mvp of the match and get no returns, I think honestly its better to have the loot randomized. Have you noticed that players are more or less engaged in matches? In Halo people constantly were quitting matches if their team was losing or they had terrible allies. It was really frustrating to put up with, but in Destiny I notice that it happens quite less frequently, and I think its because of the allure of potential reward at the end. Just like gambling.

At the end of the day there are trick to everything. If Bungie doesn't want people doing the missions for easy legendary/shards then remove that from circulation all together. Or don't add really long ass missions that make people wanna do earth instead as it is super short.

I agree leave it random but change the screen so you only see fireteam rewards. I don't need to see what Doobiesmoker69 got with his 2 kills and 18 deaths.

Was really excited that I almost had level 2 Vanguard rep. Aww yeah, let's hit up the Hunter Vanguard for some legendary gear... oh wait, I already have all legendary/exotic armor (#problemseveryonewants).

Can't hit up the Quartermaster until level 3 Vanguard rep... so...

So... now what do I do? Join a faction? If so, which one is best if I primarily play PvE?

Everyone probably knows this already, but not all the Queen's legendary gear is the same.
It's worth looking at the stats/upgrade path part of the armors. I had a helmet equipped that took relic iron to upgrade defense, of which I have none (count me among the Lv26's that haven't even progressed to Mars story yet). SECOND helmet I got last night just took spinmetal to upgrade. Of which I have a metric shit-ton. So I scrapped the first one. :)

Same light stat to start. Couple of the other additional benefits were different, but not really important as far as I can tell. Just FYI.

Considering Bungie's past games, is anyone else as surprised at how little the vehicles factor into the game?
.

Did you try the Mars strike yet? There are 3 interceptors that spawn before a large battle with 3 commanders you have to kill. The last one is in a giant tank and it's my favorite strike for that reason. I definitely agree there is so much potential to include flying vehicles and two-three man operated vehicles in the game, hopefully it's in the expansions

My thoughts exactly. It's so addictive.

Oh, so I have to do PvP now? I can't play the game the way I want?

Hrm. I like the game, but I'm not going to make excuses for the games issues. I'll acknowledge it, see what other people are doing, and keep playing it. I'm not going to shun or try to insinuate that someone is 'cheesing' a game by the actions they choose to do, from sitting in a cave to reselecting a mission over and over again until they get an easy mission.

That red ain't a dye.

God of war shader?

I'll do anything for that shader..

I can't help but laugh every time someone does that too me. I hear the words "Become Legend" spoken by The Speaker and I lose it.

Been working all day and now getting that itch to play destiny, it's like a rash which doesn't go away, lol.

I am legitimately thinking about bouncing out of the office early today to go play.

It's this flipping thread. It's like "ok, I'm thinking about and talking about Destiny, why I am not at home right now actually playing?"

Oh and by "thinking about bouncing" I mean that I'm "definitely fucking bouncing"...

Also, as an aside, is the level 18 story mission the last one?

Whats the difference if they start being AFK?

Stick with Vanguard. The other factions seem to focus on Crucible bullshit. I really wanted to join New Monarchy since they specialize in Intellect and Strength with their equipment, but it all costs Crucible marks so...

And at this point all of my equipment is basically better than anything any other faction sells anyway.

I think everyone should get a engram at least tho.

lol when did I say everything needed to be easy? I run every mission I do on the highest difficulty. Why? I have no idea, dont get shit for doing it unless it's one of the weekly challenges. I just rather not spend all my time on one mission. Last night it tried to make me do the Garden spire 3 times in a row. I did it once already Bungie plz. T_T'

To be honest I think the reason it's like that is if you needed to leave the game. You won't be penalized for that.

I wouldn't say it's easier. The last part with the minotaur was a kick in the balls for us, compared to last weeks "hide in the room". Some people are coming up with better strategies than we had probably. But the rest of the time leading up to the boss I would say is easier. The room with all of the wizards on the moon was harder than anything in the lead up to the nexus boss. Are you jumping down at the end though? Or staying up top when you fight the boss?

Got a vita? Remote play at the office :)

They each provide different gear combinations. I believe Dead Orbit is Discipline/Strength? They also offer a variety of strong weapons when you reach rank 3.

Bungie created a legend in the Warthog, but all of the vehicles in Destiny just kind of seem like an afterthought. Seems like it could have been such epic inclusion with replayability too.

*vehicle stuff*

I was definitely surprised at the lack of vehicle stuff. There's a couple points in Strikes where it feels like the game wants to do a "vehicle level" where there is a pile of Pikes laid out for the team to grab and race down a canyon, or a hangar full of the heavier vehicle followed by a fight with the hovertank, but it never lasts or is actually the fun. The vehicle combat just isn't that great. They aren't manueverable enough to dodge most stuff, and can only fire directionally forward, so you basically have to snipe stuff by popping around corners instead of getting into any sort of pitched fight.

Is it silly that even though the Queen's Helm that I got yesterday has the perfect stat distribution and bonuses for my build, yet I want to replace it by purchasing a New Monarchy helm simply because I hate the look of the Queen's Helm?

I can't get into the colors and those spikes. Titan btw.

Well, i'm going to do the same. New monarchy too.
This game is all about shooting stuff and looking fancy.

Most annoying thing to me is that I can't use my hunters marks to buy warlock gear and instead need to have those marks on my warlock, but they can't be transferred. I mean considering how happy the game is to let me get warlock gear from an engram my hunter picked up I'd expect to be able to buy some gear for their class too. Instead I now have to rep grind myself back up to crucible rep 2 with both my warlock and titan, which sucks big time.

I actually enjoy the PvP but just knowing I'm locked away from my other marks or rank because...reasons.... is extremely annoying and it's beginning to hamper my experience with the PvP a bit. I've already been driven away from strikes after playing the same few over and over again just to hit vanguard rank 3 with one character and I'm sure not up for doing it two more times, but now that same thing is lurking over the PvP too. The marks I can kind of get, but what's the point of locking me away from the ability to purchase again?

Yeah I know, but they require Crucible marks and for someone like me and Narmer who prefer PvE over PvP, those factions dont help us too much.

bounty- some relatively easy bounties available for one to do, don't take too long and get experience that goes unfortunately towards Queen stuff.

mission- level 24 missions with some modifiers. While not horrible, it's recommended to go with a team but a level 26 minimum is recommended to do solo, and then just reload the mission until you get the earth mission. Shortest to completion and you only have to fight one group of level 24 dudes.

I don't know, through serendipity I got the earth mission first go around and solo'd it as a 23 or 24 and found it fairly doable. Just make sure you have weapons that do solar damage.
