Used this throughout the nightfall and weekly heroic last night to level it up a bit (despite my preference for hand cannons)

it's quite excellent. Once I unlocked the accuracy while crouching upgrade it became a headshot generator.

I've been on the lookout for that. But I also like the legendary scout rifle that's in the same design as my Acheron.

Lol,

Btw, why was the Review thread closed?

At 12k+ posts it had become so sprawling as to no longer serve its original purpose, which was to focus on Destiny reviews; it had become a parallel OT. The last few pages had as much discussion about game features and how to play as it did reviews. (You may have noticed a few other Destiny threads locked in an effort to consolidate general Destiny discussion to the OT as well.)

There's no vanguard weapons or anything like the crucible/factions right? I hit rank 3 and got a random one which I heard happens each rank up but there's nothing else.

Good as always, except for the enemy variety complaint. That's one of the things Bungie carried over from Halo and it's also something most fps campaigns simply no longer do. Proper enemy variety with different behaviors. It's diluted by stuffing missions/strikes full of cannon fodder and the Hive's bullshit wizards and knights are a lot more irritating than anything else, but still, they do a good job.

I think it would be better if the races kept to their respective planets a bit more. I feel like I'm fighting the Vex and Hive dudes about 75% of the time.

I agree, often it seems like drastically different AI/enemies are reserved for the distilled FPS games ala Left4Dead and Killing Floor off the top of my head. I must admit that I did chuckle when I saw Goblins, Hobgoblins, and Minotaurs though. Somewhat too generic

It does look cool and shoots green bullets, though! But I still prefer my Level 20 rare hand cannon with a capacity of 8 bullets, explosive rounds (doubles my damage) and faster reload. Maybe Thorn will get buffed in a future patch to make it more viable.

If you pair it with gauntlets that increase hand cannon reload speed, it's goes from "mediocre" to "a little good," in my opinion.

Are the explosive rounds causing double damage or just converting part of the overall damage in to splash damage? Because I have the Silvered Maverick Mk. 41 (which has the same capacity/abilities you've described) and from the description it "deals a portion of the weapon's damage in an area". So you're actually doing less damage to an individual enemy with that ability active, and doing slight damage to an enemy near them. I turned the explosive rounds off in favor of +2 character agility. I'm using the Regulator Mk. 56 now though since its capacity is 11.

I'm "calmly" inking a sternly written letter to the good folks at Bungie in the off-chance I don't get exactly what I want, exactly when I want it.

What could possibly go wrong?

Maybe this

Bungie said:
Dear Homeboyd,

Thank you for the letter addressing your concerns. After reading though it, we simply don't have the time to explain why we don't have the time to explain why the drop rates are not to your liking.

Sincerely,

Rahool Jones
Chief RNG Programmer at Bungie

I just got an exotic bounty and it says I need a kill/death spread in the crucible of 25. Does that mean 25 kills to 1 death in a match or 25 kills more than deaths?

Did it in 2 games, its easy. Assists count as kill too. So an average game of 15 kills and 5 assists with 10 deaths is +10. You'll need 15 more.

That seems reasonable, it did kind of devolve into a strange discussion. I admit I hadn't checked the OTs for discussion as there are so many pages and it travels so quickly.

Thanks for the clarification

Well, I think it does extra damage. When I shoot a Fallen Vandal in the chest, I see 2 damage number pop up (125 and 125, for example). If I shoot score a headshot, I get (325 and 125). So, I think the second 125 is extra damage, but you're saying it's the original damage just split up? I'll have to unequip Explosive Rounds and test this. I've been using it ever since I unlocked it (so, for like 12 days now), so I don't know what vanilla damage is.

haha... I love when people say stuff like this is "easy". That would be my best crucible match of all time. :)

I try to stay well away from crucible bounties. I'm only in there pretending like I'm trolling for RNG drops, but in reality I'm actually trying really hard.

No it really doesn't. I'm fully suited in legendaries and an exotic and I literally bought all of them.

Well it does when other people get exotic bounties quickly based on RNG and many other people hear about and are told "sorry your unlucky keep grinding the same missions over and over again."

It's not more damage. It spreads the same dmg over a wider area.

Destiny relies too much on RNG IMO.

If you farm, yes.

You can also spend that time in PvP (if you like that), and you'll have 65 marks in no time. do bounties and stuff to get a faction to level 2 or 3 which is the real grind imo. And then buy your legendaries.

Mats can be easily farmed as well, they're everywhere and respawn quick.

Strange coins? Weekly Strike and very likely through crucible games. 13 is your Exotic, got it after the first week without grinding them.

Shards are a problem, but are an easy target right now.

Oh, damn. :(

I also just checked a guide and apparently I get the thorn for completing this bounty. It's a hand cannon called the Thorn. which I don't like to hear at all lol. Anybody know if it's any good at all? :(

It's not the worst weapon for PvP. I get kills from the DoT all the time. Two shots and they run away only to die from the DoT. It's only 7 damage per tick, but it's enough after two shots.

It is quite satisfying.

Having said that, it's utter shit for PvE. The DoT is useless against bosses. Roughly 30 damage per tick. Six rounds and pure butt reload kills it's DPS.

I do use it for PvP, but it will get replaced as soon as I loot a Last Word.

So yesterday I get the Queen's helm and today the vanguard gives me a helmet. Guess which one I kept... Full legendary armor BTW.

No one will ever know that I used foodstamps

Well well.

After dozens of useless legendary drops I actually got a weapon I can use.

The Comedian Shotgun.

But judging the amount of time it will take forever to actually get some great gear.

How in the world do you guys handle it?

Wow, went from level 25 to level 27 in a flash just for hoarding spirit bloom.

Just need an exotic armour and legendary primary weapons and I can completely focus on ascension shards and other thing. ^_^

That sounds more doable .... I thought it was KD ratio of 25 to 1 ...

I also just finished it in two matches. As long as you can reasonably kill without overly dying, it's a piece of cake.

It was a breeze compared to the four hours I spent grinding void damage kills or 10k XP warlock kills.

I'm running the raid for the SOLE purpose of finding the ice breaker. If I have to beat the raid 575 times, so be it.

It will be done.

You can definitely do the raid 575 times to get Icebreaker...or you could get it after two matches in the crucible like me. :-)

Yes, I'm serious. No, please don't hate me.

I just finished a level 22 strike. On my team was a random lvl 26 player. He didn't revive anyone the entire game and at the end of the strike had 40 kills, me and other guy had 100~ each..

Is that a thing? Intentionally be a lazy ass during strikes for some reason? He just hung back the whole time..

Even something like 2 kills, 6 assists and 5 deaths would put you ahead. I think it sounds overwhelming but anyone could get it done eventually.

The void kills one would be pretty rough if you aren't atleast decent though, as you need actual kills and deaths bring you back down on a longer period.

Yes, you can get the basic gear through grinding rep, but RNG still factors into getting nearly all other exotics and raid gear and even upgrade materials.
