I have never seen a Strike drop a legendary or exotic and I have done dozens of them, many at 24. 1 in 20 or 30 Crucible matches may drop a legendary or exotic, and it will most likely go to someone else. You don't get gear rewards period for redoing high difficulty story missions. You are sending this guy on a wild goose chase.

Not going to lie, if in the tower I could punch the cryptarch and he had lines to accompany it like he was in pain, that would be my goty.
 
I don't really care about the cave nerf, but stopping the queen's gear from turning into ascendant material? Goddammit. Shit was already hard enough to come by.

Well like I said it's a game that I enjoy playing and doing PvP bounties and just playing the crucible which again I enjoy doing, will get you guaranteed purples. Does it take time? Of course but not hours a day. I mostly just play on weekends and maybe the odd weekday. I'm also fine with not being raid ready right away since I don't have the time to play a ton.

People are clearing the content in a game light on content in 2-3 weeks. Gee, what a surprise.
 
Can anyone think of a way to get 4 strange coins? I've beaten the weekly already. I'm at 19, and it costs 23 to get a primary weapon, so if he shows up with a Suros Regime and I'm short I'm going to lose my shit.

Don't come with just problems, come with solutions. What's your solution? Triple the amount of content in 3 weeks with a hotfix?
 
So wait a second the drop rate of engrams has been changed? Shit. Well are they guaranteeing purple items from purples yet haha
 
Kind of shitty for Bungie to patch a bunch of "exploits" and then only give some vague statements about fixing the things that drove people to those exploits "later."

Also since the new hotfix today, if you die - your chances of getting an engram drop is lesser. More kills per minute and no deaths = more chance at loot.

Man, I think I'm done with this game. Little things like this that make this painful grind even more of a bitch are just pushing me over the edge. I can't wait for Horizon 2 to come out.
And I thought I'd be playing Destiny for months and months :lol

Yes you can by things you don't really need, crappier weapons, crappier gear. The upside is that you can still dismantle them into upgrade mats. Because that's what everyone wants from a raid, more upgrade mats. Well, could be worse, could be nothing.

Yes - after a "hard-reset" the changes of engrams dropping are less.

And actually they JUST updated this post, here's the new text:

"Reduced drop rate of engrams following a hard wipe [fixed in 1.0.1.4]
*Clarification: This effect only lasts for a short period of time immediately following a hard wipe"

Thankfully its only for a short time. If it was for the entirety of the strike/mission then that would be extremely unfortunate. As I said before, its just a "easy/lazy" way of patching future farming runs.

What level did you do the weekly on? That's really the only guaranteed way to get coins.

Have you done the raid?

Have you received Ascendant Energy for every single drop except one?

Good luck getting to level 30 - I hope you're good at prayer, because now leveling to cap is 100% luck-based. No reliable way to get shards means it could take unlucky players MONTHS before they hit 30. Have fun!!!

Bungie should make a Punch the Cryptarch app on iOS/Android. Only more money in their pocket. They need to profit from all this displeasure.

Yeah, this baffles me when people say 'Oh you expected to be X already?'

There's...not alot of content in the base game. The events are....literally just more of the same missions. The Queens Wrath...is just a repeat of old content.
 
Just read the patch notes. I'm not surprised about the nerfs, but they should have at least fixed some of their design flaws first. A whole blog about how they know everything sucks ass doesn't do anything for me until it's actually addressed. Right now the raid is the only worthwhile content in the game, but it's not enough to keep me playing at this point. How hard is it it to implement a button to skip cut-scenes? I like how the Queen's event has become basically pointless for me to even bother doing anymore.

It's a limited time event and I was trying to take the most advantage I could of it. Each of your 3 legendaries takes 18 shards to fully upgrade, plus the 16 for an exotic. That in itself is a ton of shards. Then with potential raid drops and the chance to have to upgrade whatever Xur might have in the week you need a fuckton of shards.

This is an honest question. I don't really know what I am suposed to do. Kinda lucked into getting shards last night when I broke down gear from Queens Wrath

I'm not trying to. Didn't mean to imply redoing story missions. In my experience I have had the engrams drop and it has yielded some results for me. Did a strike the other night and got a hand cannon from an engram. Crucible can be a cruel beast and demoralizing at times, but you know, that's Destiny.

Keep playing for fun. Take breaks when you feel like it. These are the earliest days of a game we'll be playing for a very long time, probably years. These things will be true regardless of how much hysterical outrage surrounds it.

For now, I am bailing the fuck out of here. This is a mess. I'm an active part of this community not because I love Bungie oh so much and think they can do no wrong and think Destiny is perfect and get butthurt when people criticize my favoritest thing, but simply because I like being a part of a community for a game like this. I like having people to discuss things with when we can't be playing, exchange tips and strategies and information we all may have missed.

I want my presence on neogaf to help people get the most out of this game and purely from a functional perspective that's impossible right now. I'll resume posting when the requisite of "get over it" has happened and things have calmed down. If you notice someone asking for help that can't be completely answered by my guides please have them PM me or send me a message on PSN (hawkian there too).

I sir am very thankful for your tips and tricks. I also agree with your thoughts about the Dev Notes. I enjoy Destiny so I play it. If I didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't play it.

Public Event runs. I sort of like doing them.
 
I guess I'll just grind faction rank to buy more gear to level up to get into the raid. I mean, I have more fun playing the actual game (crucible and strikes etc) than I did sitting in front of that cave. And for me, I always got mostly greens and a few blues(that then turned into greens), so I'm not bummed about the cave. I just don't like how long of a grind everything is

A hard wipe is where everyone in the fireteam dies and you have to restart at a checkpoint. I think their intention is to make it less efficient to farm engrams by repeatedly dying and replaying parts of missions that involve a large wave of enemies right after a checkpoint.
