Destiny |OT5| New patch out Tues., Master Rahool reportedly crying into his robes

I've put 76 hours in to the game, and with updates I think it's time to stop. Changing the queen's loot to not give shards isn't a "sell the game" thing, but it's just a gentle prod to me saying "yo son, maybe it's time to take a break".

Still not completed the raid but seen every encounter, and gear with +3 extra stats isn't really doing it for me vs what I have already.

We'll see what the first DLC is like. No reason to play before hand

I was just watching Angry Joe's post-review discussion and I stumbled over the part where they talk about how the story used to be different and all that, at least it's rumored.

...and I just did a little research. In the time of this game's start of development until it was finished mostly all of the creative leads left Bungie. All the writers including Joseph Staten who is credited as "co-creator of the Destiny Universe" and the other two writers, Joshua Rubin and Dave Mongan... not to forget Marty O'Donnell - those people all left the company before the game was released.

Dear god, what the hell happened, and what the shit will Bungie even do for the next 10 years? Are the changes to musical vibes and writing-style already be apparent in the DLCs, or are those already on-disc, taken out of the full game to be scattered out over time and making Destiny in its current form feel incomplete?

looks like a lot departures, seems to have really hurt the end product.

did they leave or where they fired?

God no. Wearing full exotic armor would be overpowered as hell. A Sunsinger with the Sunbreakers and Heart of Praxic Fire would be the worst thing in the world.

Yeah, stat wise it would be crazy. I do think they should have transmogrification though, even if it's insanely expensive(not like glimmer is going anywhere). Currently so much of the gear is just the same appearancewise, with exotics being the only differentiators. And even then, that's mainly going to look difference with the chestpiece, otherwise they seem to have around a handful of basic coats.

The overall story might be butchered by outside influence, but the line-to-line dialogue is inexcusable. I didn't think it was going to get any worse than W_D this year, and boy was I wrong.

I felt the same way. I truly disliked Watch_Dogs and I thought there was no way another game would be worse this year...and along comes Destiny.

I wasn't saying they should be immune to criticism, I just read that "the names should be made public and they should be shamed" as attacking the people and not the work, hence my reply.

I understand you don't want your friend attacked, but truthfully, in the world of "art" (which video games claim to be), the artist is always criticized along with their work. That's the nature of criticism and when it's something the audience finds particularly offensive (for whatever reason), the creator in question are always named (and shamed). Whether or not that should happen in the case of Destiny is up to the individual, but wanting your friends protected from the same visceral criticism other writers receive in their mediums is hypocritical.

Video games are the only medium I know where the writer of a project can remain relatively anonymous and while I know the reasons for that - games can have multiple writers for different scenarios - the writers behind Destiny put out an atrocious piece of work. Forget the content that may have been cut-out by the higher-ups for sale later as DLC, the remaining scenes, dialogue and plotting are amateurish and cringeworthy. There's no defending that.

Just dinged 28. Gonna stop upgrading until I get the raid set.

That's my dream Titan, I am debating dropping my Hunter to focus on making that Titan. . sigh.

Watching Bungie employees tear through other teams in the Crucible makes me feel bad for those people who simply have no chance against 'em. It's great fun.

And one of them just acknowledged that there's no way to avoid getting killed by Arc Blade. "You just gotta look them in the eye, and say 'I'm glad it was you.'"

Did they ever patch the emgrams? I just got a legendary primary emgram but don't want to decrypt if if it gives me a rare again
If anything they'll probably make it more clear that it will not guarantee a legendary item. I doubt they'll change it so you won't be able to get items below legendary.

I don't think there's anything wrong with unavoidable supers when you're already engaged with them, but I would like a way to spot someone super charged; it would be the same explanation for why secondary weapons should be visible in Halo games.

It's the predator missile design philosophy from MW2. Hope the guy doesn't pick you. Fuck balance or design.

Anyone?
We might have room if you are willing to wait 15 minutes to see if I can get my friends together.
What exactly is The Grottos area on Earth used for in the game? I haven't played anything in the game that has required me to go there.
My conspiracy theory on this is that they put those in there just for the beta so they could maintain a sense of exploration. Areas like that don't really exist elsewhere.

I'm starting to see really short legs on this game. I really like it and nerfing the queens shards isn't a deal breaker but finding out I'm stuck at 28 without raid gear + not really needing anymore level anyway because 28 is basically it for difficuly really deflates my interest. Sure I can level another character but why bother? Iron Banner is on the horizon but I'd rather see mare raids incoming instead. That $40 Gamestop trade is looking better each day.

there's a few locked off areas we do t have yet. bungie are either holding them for dlc or opening them for events later on.

It is not used once. After beating all the story and strikes and the raid I went there because I remember it in the beta and it is not used once at any point at all in the game. That is particularly strange to me, especially because it's a half decent little area and they just forgot about it, in the game where you go back through the same area over and over.

Yeah, that's a good way to look at it. I think Bungie underestimated how long it would take for people to see all the content thus far and the methods some folks would use to get there. This was evident with the idea of buying Strange Coins from Xur.

Folks are going to find way around systems. They're not wrong for this, so I'm not on board with the shaming and such, but Bungie probably should've not released the game without assessing how obtainable they want certain things to be.

I hate the loot system in this game, but it isn't enough for me to stop raiding though. Despite all the mistakes and the missing stuff, I give Bungie the highest of marks for actually having a competent raid in a first person shooter, complete with 'time-traveling', and intense mechanics instead of having spongey bosses. It's upsetting the strikes take little to none of these traits.

Bungie, for all the flaws in Destiny, managed to convince me they can make a 6-player dungeon that can test people in coordination and communication while not requiring me to memorize a rotation.

Call me easy to please, but if we get a vehicle-based raid, I think Destiny will be my favorite game.

Kings Watch isn't even accessible. I do believe they found data for the DLC that suggests some of the DLC has earth missions. They'll probably include King's Watch and the Grotto.

I have actually found success against the blade dancer by using my blink strike melee (hunter melee). It either kills them, we both take partial damage, or I die and another person can kill them. It also has the added bonus of going invisible.

wut. I slash people sometimes and they don't die, similar to the Halo 3 Sword.

So.... I think there's actually nothing left to do in this game once you're level 28 and can down the raid.

there's plenty to do, but you wont get anything for it because they don't want you to play again until next week.

i'd do the raid everyday because i enjoy the teamwork and objectives. but nobody wants to spend that time and get absolutely nothing out of it.

Man, what's up with the First Blood bounty? It's glitched to all hell apparently. I know for a fact I've gotten 3 but it only shows me as having 1. The bounty itself is already annoying in the first place so having first bloods just not count makes me question whether I should even pick it up anymore.

Edit: Just got another one and it didn't count either. What the hell is going on...?

So they've accepted the fact that the PvP is the lowest of low tier 'competitive' FPS gaming and it's an unbalanced mess? Good. That's the first step to making Destiny 2 better

Is anyone in this thread UNDER level 24?

Man.

I'm only level 20 in one character slot. The Friday after it came out I went away on holiday/vacation. I'm not back till next week but I'm really looking forward to getting back into it.

Only thing that concerns me is the monthly events I might be missing. Do we know if they'll repeat them again?

A big thank you to Fatal_X_Fate and Malloc-X for suffering through getting the Earth mission with me 4 times!

Now to get my Hunter to 21 to try it all again!
