Ethan Carter is beautiful in 3D.
I'm happy to be able to finally play them in stereoscopic 3D. City worked in 3D very briefly on AMD cards using the 3rd party TriDef software, until an update to the game broke it completely. On Nvidia, not only is it not broken at all, but there are 3D versions of all of the cutscenes which are video files which never worked with AMD cards.
Received my 970 today. Installed it and the first thing I did after installing the drivers and rebooting was looking at GPU-z just because:

Isn't the Pixel Fillrate lower than it should show it as?

Hmm UK release might not be so close/on time...I'd end up with 2 cards I'll want to upgrade again ha.You could always buy some EVGA cards now, and then use the Step Up program to get the 8GB variants in a few months if you want more VRAM.
I have a question. Let's say those 8GB 970s are real and I get one in addition to my 4GB 970. Can I use both in SLI and get full use of that 8GB? I know VRAM isn't combined but am wondering if there are any kind of weird issues when you do SLI two cards of different VRAM
Shit, got to wait it out then.No. It would use the 4GB. Also, it is debatable whether it would even work in the first place. SLI is much more picky than CFX.
It's for Ultra, and it's an optional download that doesn't come with the game.
Nor has it actually been tested yet. I'd wait for some actual testing of the game before making judgements. That VRAM thread and the hysteria around it is embarrassing.
Well, if it's not a bottleneck why do you need at least 6 to use high/Ultra textures on Shadow of mordor?
Not that I'm going to buy the game but it seems to like the games are demanding for Ultra/High settings even in 1080p more than 4gb Vram and that would definitley mean that this is a problem for people who bought cards with 4 or lower vram.
Was my thought.Hearts of Iron 4 bro. Don't forget it!
Manufacturer is Asus.
To everyone considering upgrading to these, I would honestly wait until next year when 20nm or lower is released. The real Maxwell starts then.
The 970 is a good price though.

When would you guess they would release these cards? Winter 2015?

Can always wait for something better, endless cycle. I went from 670 sli to 970 sli and don't regret it one bit. If the price is tight, you gotta make it right!
Perhaps because you are on PCI-E 2.0 instead of 3.0
I ordered mine on the 20th, I got a delivery estimate today on the 30th, it still hasn't shipped and I selected one-day shipping. Kinda wondering if I should cancel it. Was going to run 2 980s in SLI but but now we have VRAMgate happening lol.
I've never heard of this before. Link? The PCI lanes are "clocked" down when there is no load.
I just purchased an additional MSI 670 PE off another gaffer who is upgrading to a 970... I'm going to hold out on maxwell for the time being in hopes that SLI 670 PE, will get me through the year. Though, the Witcher 3 may for my hand in February.Whoa man, I'm upgrading from the exact same card. Should be coming in the evening, excited!

Really tempted to get a 970 but not being very clued up with hardware, I hope someone could advise if it would be worth it with my current set up.
I've a P6X58D motherboard with an i7 990X cpu.
Would I benefit from a 970 or is the CPU / motherboard a bottleneck?
Currently have an MSI 760.
Why would you want to upgrade from a i7 990 XE? That CPU is still good. I got a i7 975 XE and not hitting any bottlenecks as far as I know.
Overclock your CPU a bit if you can and save the money for a new GPU.
Maybe I am blind, but I don't see anything about downclocking from 3.0 to 2.0.
Asus STRIX 970 on newegg right now
not the best SLI card but i ordered two.
I mean to upgrade from the Nvidia 760 to 970![]()
Not sure. I'm upgrading from a 660 Ti, which is a bit behind the 760. Be crazy like me and upgrade too for the 4GB VR or wait for cards with more RAM if you're patient.

Being a noob to overclocking a GPU, how does this fair? any pointers? Temps were around 60-62'c. Should I dial it back a little?
Probably Q2 2015.
I have a question for the smart people out their. The memory compression technique they've been talking about that decreases the required memory bandwidth, does that also decrease the required memory usage as well?
I've never heard of this before. Link?
Heh. Anything under 80 and I feel like I'm fine. Though I haven't seen my 980 get hotter than 72.
