Naruto is (apparently) a ninja, and has a terrible case of power creep. His best friend and rival has a chronic recurring case of suddenly evil syndrome.

That's the series in a nutshell.

A story about a blonde ninja who never gives up like shut up no you shut up-style and evil people trying to get him to shut up but he won't.

And there are powers too, really cool ones like summoning frogs and turning into sexy women or men depending on your preference. Check it out.

Does Gaara of the Sands win any fights? I remember seeing a few episodes of them in a tournament of some kind and he was holding himself pretty well but then gets destroyed.

He wasn't alone.
I assume its this in long form.

They're ninjas with varying types of magic. the magic quickly got more intense over the series, from "supplement to vaguely ninja-like work" to "weapons of mass destruction."

Ninja school became irrelevant pretty fast and the series revolved around giant magic fights from then on

In general, apart from the often huge filler, it isn't a bad shonen anime at all.

Solid wow moments, solid action, solid humour and solid emotional moments.

Easy and enjoyable entertainment.

"ninja" based action cartoon. I put ninja in quotes 'cause they don't do anything even remotely close to ninja. I guess the shurikens and kunais and log substitution are kinda ninja.

The action is really good though and I enjoy it for what it is. The power levels really do get super insane and I have a problem with a certain character's random power ups.

It's good action, and some of the stories are really great, especially "part 1".

The main thing you have to know about Naruto, it's not really about Ninjas, but about Wizards.

^ Definitely agree. They're like... uhh....... Godric Gryffindor. A wizard who knows how to martial arts/ use swords sometimes. Basically, they use their str/dex stat.

yeah it's good considering the only good filler was the kakashi filler and an episode here and there.

it's awesome, watch it!

Hey, the Power Arc is legit. But that's a discussion to another place =)

Anyway OP is kind of hard to give you an easy recap of the story of Naruto. There's a lot of things that happen and it's being running for a while.

It's mostly about the relationship of this two guys.

Naruto like I said, that a terrible childhood all with everyone hating him, him not knowing why and having a giant demon scratching to get out from his inside. But he starts to make friends after a while and start to win people over. One of those friends is Sasuke, the black hair fella in this homoerotic manga cover.

Sasuke had a great childhood with a loving family, but one day his brother massacre his entire family and let him as the last remaining member of his clan, from then his entire goal was getting more power in other to get revenge.

And an Naruto become unlikely friends, but more rivals than anything. In the end Sasuke's hatred is consuming him and he resorts to more and more extreme methods to get power. It's up to Naruto to save him form become a full blown villain. The series ends with Sasuke becoming a rogue ninja, wanted dead or alive by the village.

Part two continues that story and is still running.

Green Guy is a Bruce lee knock of character, he can't use ninja techniques so he work his ass off and become good enough in martial arts to become a relevant ninja by cheer effort alone.

When he fought a ninja that just happened to have natural talent that controlled sand, he got wreck.

OH OH I GET IT!

Naruto is like Kingdom hearts. It's about Naruto (Sora) getting stronger and chasing after Sasuke (Rikku) and the girl gets left behind.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
Its about colorful clowns who call themselves ninja's going around performing magic tricks. More recently its become about colorful clowns who call themselves ninjas going around blowing up mountains like in Dragonball Z

Wilful ignorance in the OP.

My mates and I greatly enjoyed Naruto throughout middle school but the story has just dragged on for so long. Will tune in for final episodes for old times sake but damn if it hasn't taken a while.

Makes me want to start watching it again. I stopped when the fillers started right before Shippuden, but seeing this makes me remember that I quite enjoyed the series when I was into it.

This is probably the peak of Naruto's story though. After this specific arc ends it's 10 years of Sharingan Trolling from the Uchiha Clan and it never, ever pries itself loose from that horrible plot device.

Young boy with no talent is the only person in the ninja world who can break the never ending cycle of hate and violence by using love and violence.

Can somebody explain Naruto and One Piece to me in DBZ lingos? I am in my 30s to be honest I didn't think it was worth my time to follow either Naruto or One Piece. But I would like to know their plots.

Bonus point if you can explain them in Saint Seiya lingos.

There both battle shonen. One piece is better but is really long.

watched this show during my teeange years, but after watching Hunter x Hunter, FMA brotherhood, steins gate, and Code geass I cant go back to watching it. If there's truly a DBZ kai version for Naruto as one poster here suggested then i might give it a try.

One Piece is technically better but is more boring.

Naruto has higher highs and lower lows, you can be angry, disappointed, annoyed but always entertained.

Naruto high are great but they are so rare now that it hard not to be angry all the time.
