These kind of massive changes should have happened gradually over the seasons. Instead of the bowel movements we got. A three year gap after three season of meandering around shows how badly they planned the series up to this point. Without the ticking clock of Sozin's comet they clearly had difficulty focusing the narrative.

Too little too late.

Gosh, I miss when Avatar entertained me.

What the hell am I even reading? The ramification of Season 2 directly lead into the plot of season 3 and the ending of Season 3 will most likely heavily influence the plot of Season 4 looks too me like the showrunner's had an idea about where they wanted to take the show very clearly.

And how have the past 3 season been "meandering" you can't just throw words like that out there without having some examples to back it up.

in Season 1 we had an attempted revolution in Republic City, in Season 2 we literally had an almost world ending event which brought about the return of the Airbenders, and in Season 3 we had a the Red Lotus plot to kill the Avatar. Not sure how any of that is meandering.

I just saw the trailer. Damn filter at work.

That glorious music by Zuckerman. Not dissapointed at all! I'd love to have an oficial release. Considering the plot, the fact that we are having
a 3 year timeskip
is completely unexpected for me. I suppose
it was necessary for the entire Metal Clan business and us having a better, clearer image of its impact on the world at large. The whole crippled situation may be solved by the first episode.

As some people were saying in this thread, it looks like this takes some inspiration from the imperialism of the early XX century and the rise of People's Republic after the fall of the dynasty.
I just hope the Red Lotus plot thread isn't just sweep under the rug by these developments just for the sake of a new season, like the Equalist movement.

About Kuvira,
the reactions of both Suyin and Opal pretty much sell the idea that the militia - or at least her faction - got complete power over the Clan. As I presumed earlier, at first glance the plot is going for the political implications, so a reunion of the world powers was pretty much needed (And we got finally a look at the new Fire Lord. She looks pretty similar to Mai). Let's see what she brings to the table.

And of course,
Toph Beifong. I think her so called enlightment journey has her pretty much locked for the Avatar's role storyline.

You know, there is someone in the series that really should become a villain. He has endured humiliation and intense suffering. I would think he would have nothing but hate for the world boiling inside him ready to unleash his justified vengeance.

Season 5s villain

Also, was that
____Lin____
swinging around in midair? Did
she
escape and became a fugitive?

Is it just me or their appearances look somewhat generic?
Mainly, their faces except Korra's seem weird.

I don't think Asami looks anywhere near generic. Mako kind of does and Bolin is borderline, but yeah those outfits look worse imo but I still like the change.

They're trying hard for that 90s feel with the haircuts huh?

dude i swear i would have got that

i was google image searching different time periods and i was going 80s 70s 60s 90s but I didn't get to 40s because i thought 90s was close

Wow a three year jump, was no expecting that and the awkward intro to the character in the season 3 finale was a setup for season 4. I guess this the cycle beginning again, with the metal nation vying for power? Seems like there will be a lot of Korra struggling to find her place and recovering despite the 3 year jump too.

Also Korra definitely looks better with the long hair down like in the season 3 finale, though the new one is better than the old look.

I believe my problem with Asami is how her face was drawn in this specific illustration. Looking back, her attire is pretty similar to the one she has been sporting the last couple of seasons.

That's not official art
That explains why I thought it looked weird. Hopefully we get some official art soon.

We should get a sequel series set years after The Legend of Korra that features the 80s-early 90s aesthetic.

It will be a zany sitcom inspired by Full House complete with laugh track.
