The Monte Carlo is the only exotic I got off a drop, and that was in the Vault. I'd really recommend giving the Vault a go once you get high enough. I've seen a ton of good stuff other people got out of there. I've gotten 4 exotic weapons from being given exotic bounties randomly and another from Xur. Doing daily public events and the Weekly Heroics/Nightfalls for Strange Coins got me enough to have my pick when Xur comes around. Just takes patience! Nothing takes a tremendous time commitment. I personally don't really like farming at the caves for a shot at an engram for another shot at an exotic.

  • Finishing your Weekly Heroic Strike- if you want something from Xur and haven't done your weekly, this is the time. This is the only guaranteed source of Strange Coins in the game. It CAN be done on multiple characters. Pocket Infinity and I can tear through this strike like newspaper.
  • Finishing your Weekly Nightfall
  • Reaching Vanguard Rank 2- we'll be using this method, and if you don't mind, I will be streaming these runs. A lot of people who are frustrated with the apparently slow pace of ranking up would benefit from simply grouping up and rolling with one another, and I hop to spread the word about how it works. Note: at Vanguard Rank 4 and Crucible Rank 2, i'm not even thinking about Reputation anymore, it just comes as I play.
  • Leveling up quickly pre-20 (I didn't really feel this was necessary, but I know some people feel the need for speed)
  • Queen's Wrath kill orders for help getting from 20 to 26

I just got a legendary primary weapon engram all happy with myself thinking it was a guaranteed legendary next week. Then I realized haha

It came out as 2 ascendant energy. That was my first experience with a legendary engram and it couldn't have gone any worse. Roll on Tuesday!

Biggest trick to this is doing the Nexus. After killing the 3 servitors in the beginning, you can do a mad dash to the final boss. It's extremely fast and easy; just run past all the mobs. Pick the easiest difficulty by going to the planet and selecting the strike there. Don't go through the strike menu for random strikes.

Oh, it could have gone much worse lol. We've all probably had a legendary turn into level 16 rare gloves.

Could've been a blue or a green, at least you'll be able to use the ascendant eventually.
 
So I have an exotic helmet equipped, but some of these legendary ones look really cool. Will a fully upgraded exotic always have better light stats than a fully upgraded legendary?
 
Just got Last Word, can't wait to try it out. My exotic collection is coming along quite nicely! :)

On an entirely different note, why do so many pvp players leave their teammates high and dry? Many times they will get into a confrontation with a foe, if it becomes too much work to go after and finish off a foe (as in the have the upper hand but the enemy is getting away) they just give up, they sometimes will also WAIT until a team player loses to the foe before they attack (like taking turns?).

Yup. But you could eventually get another exotic to level up so it's good to have a backup legendary of each piece anyway.

Go to the mothyard on the Patrol and search every cave for chests. There are also chests inside the abandoned plane pieces. Between doing those, you'll find spinmetal along the way. It's not *that* bad compared to farming over materials. Grab a podcast and just relax while roaming

Eesh, I need to polish my friend's skills in the Crucible. His aim and ability to stay alive are lacking (compared to mine anyway) and it's slowing our ability to haul in goodies. He must be level 28 by tomorrow damn it, so that finishing the raid a second time is easy! If he struggles killing Sekrion at level 28, how is he gonna handle Atheon when I can't run to his rescue every few seconds?



I mean, I'm generally in charge of vault-side defence, but I need guardians capable of holding their own against the supplicants. I can't have you going down every time I revive you.

@Footos- if you haven't found anyone before tomorrow afternoon GMT, hit me up at ScrewAttack_ and I'll help you through. I know what to do both sides of the teleport.

I'm leaning towards Bad Juju because my experience with hand cannons has been poor in pvp(where I spend a lot of time now because grinding stinks) and the shotgun is nice and all but I've got a full arsenal of blues at the moment, so I'm reluctant to spend a precious exotic on a secondary weapon. Thoughts?

Thron and Bad Juju are not great- but they promised to buff them in a later patch
 
For people who are having PSN problems

Cant search for new friends? See a new friend request notification but cant actually see to accept it? Fear not!! Follow this easy steps!!

Easy steps

Invite your new friend to a Voice Party Chat.
Make sure your FIRETEAM PRIVACY is set to PUBLIC.
Tell your new friend to go to Party Chat, select the fireteam leader, press OPTIONS and select JOIN SESSION.
BoOM!!!! Now your new friend that is NOT in your friend list can play with you!!

Be advice.. When forming a Fireteam of 6 and using this method; After someone joins the fireteam the Fireteam Privacy sometimes changes to FRIENDS Only... Make sure its on PUBLIC all the time.

Hope that helps everyone get groups going when PSN gives us Headache!

Have drops in strikes already been fixed or something? I just played 4 in a row and I've managed to grab a legendary engram off the enemies in every game, I don't remember them dropping this often before.

Nothing wrong with plowing the raid multiple times! I love that shit, best part of the game. And I'm someone who enjoys every strike on offer a lot too.

1 exotic, 1 legendary, like 20 blues and from lvl 20 to 25. Can't complain haha

Started at 12, it's now 1:15am. I was on holiday last week so I'm catching up now lol
