Voguing battles are sick af

Waacking = voguing? I assume waacking comes from the fact that many vogue'ers arms look like weed wackers flailing everywhere? D:

Edit: NVM I see the description in the post above. I don't see much difference between them. This is like an uprock battle versus a breakdance competition...wut?

NAWT the weedman! lsajvb;dslkn;ondv;oknfv

Actually, the weedman is "chanting" and it's a very important component of the competitive drag scene. Dancers not only have to keep in time with the beat that's playing, but they also have to keep in time with MC. You can memorize a beat, but you can never really know what's going to come out of the MC's mouth. lol

But the MC is going to the beat...so he is really needed?

Wait.

I'm looking at more clips from this competition:

These little children just SLAYING. I can't deal.

Those little asian girls are slaying with swagger. That one in the emerald-green dress!

If you want to see a real waacking battle check out this clip!

Honestly, even though I have a dance background, I can't tell the difference between Whacking and Voguing. Whacking reads like a highly professionalized, cleaned-up, pop-heavy version of Voguing.

Yeah, voguing is pretty sickening; the ball culture that it originated from is really interesting and cool.
Though I have to be real, I'm not feeling OPs link. I was expecting something a little more fierce than that.
:/

Whaacking and Voguing have similar origins--they're both competitive dance styles that originated by minorities at around the same time--but Whaacking's not so specifically tied to the gay community as Voguing is. Whaacking is more closely associated with the disco (and early 80's scene, where it would go on to evolve into Pop-Lock/B-Boy style).

Whaacking is characterized by sharp, precise and symmetrical "flailing" of the arms. Also, while voguing can get a bit erratic, there's a much bigger importance placed on mainting a "groove" with Whaacking. Disco, afterall.

Drifter posted some great whaacking videos. Here's another great one from the same competition a lot of the vogue videos are from (also set to Prince music): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co8QDYqXo_U

(Warning, the one girl's costume might be NSFW. lol)

This reminds me a lot of ballet (moreso than other modern dancing), I dunno why people are so reviled by it. The technical prowess is super apparent.

Not for me, but I can see why people think it's cool.

I think most people are unable to make that distinction.

Impressive, some of those moves, GAWD DAMN, my bones felt brittle after seeing them done

Also all the negativity posts, Jesus so much cynicism, I get it if it isn't something EPIC! or mind blowing, but you gotta admit, that's fucking skill no matter what's happening on screen

1 death drop from any of you, half ya'll would be rolling into the emergency room asking for a knee replacement/surgery cause you blew that fucker out

I'm still trying to understand what was going on in the OP but my related search lead me to know of a person by the name of Anastasia Sokolova and I definitely know what to understand from her dancing. BRB.

It looks silly sometimes but there's also a lot of cool poses there.

I approve of posing in all forms.

At first I was like:

"What the fuck is this bullshit? Is she drunk?"

Then Wonderwoman came on and wrecked. GodDAMN. Didn't know this was a thing.
