Uncharted 4: Drake's Face model

At 60fps as well.

Well, let's not get too carried away YET. Remember, Naughty Dog says that they are targeting to get it to 60fps. And believe me, I TRUST their sorcery and I definitely trust the capabilities of the Hardware, but a lot of things can change during development.

Not that much of a confirmation to me. They all say "in-engine real-time on PS4", that doesn't make much sense. In-engine does not mean In-game. In-engine is what they CAN achieve with the engine (The Last of Us and Unchated 1, 2 and 3 cutscenes were all In-engine). In all reveals they mislead the player saying "CAPTURED ON A PLAYSTATION X" (as you can see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLGxubfC1Ik and here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1Rx-Bbht5E ). We all know by now that those graphics on TLOU reveal does not represent actual IN-GAME stuff. It's their engine at it's best.

Don't get me wrong, they are software engineering gods and those games looks spetacular, but there's always a drawback from the in-engine cutscenes.

Oh, I know exactly what you're talking about. Yeah, the initial trailer for TLoU was "in-engine" but certainly not in-game, real time graphics, and same thing with the in-engine cutscenes for all of ND's PS3 games. But what Corrinne Yu confirmed on Twitter was that Naughty Dog will no longer be pre-rendering their cutscenes, starting with U4. This means that not only will they be in-engine, but they will be running in real time on a PS4. And it makes sense that they would do this, because those pre-rendered cutscenes are large files that can eat up even a BD's capacity, real quick.

Whether or not that's true, has yet to be seen. But I'd sure like to believe it. And I'm not sure why a ND employee would lie about something like that.

Now, even taking all of that into consideration, it's hard to believe that U4 will end up maintaining the graphical fidelity that this year's E3 trailer showed us. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Drake's Fortune realtime cutscene (wet) vs A Thief's End realtime cutscene (wet)

Blah blah blah diminishing returns blah blah.

Thank you for the awesome answer :)

His face looks aged and haggard, appropriate given what we heard in the trailers with this game taking place a significant length of time after the events of 3. He's also a little less recognizable because his signature gelled up bangs are out of frame.

Drake looks like a rugged, weathered, alcoholic badass now. I hope he looks like that because he's a hard-drinking, darker person who has PTSD, because if he's still a wise-cracking Joss Whedon type character after killing hundreds and hundreds of people, I'm going to have a hard time appreciating the story at this point. Just sayin'.

people are acting like this is a comparison betweem MGS1 Snake and Ground Zeroes Snake.

not really, i just wanted to post that pic

Does current gen Drake make anyone else want to cry for cross-gen Metal Gear Solid V? MGSV looks so amazing, especially characters during cutscenes, that I can't help but wonder what they could have done with that brilliance and no need to get it running on old systems.

Certainly Uncharted 4 Drake beats MGSV characters, but dang, with how good they've done on MGSV, I really am dying to know what it could have been.

Young Drake! Aw shit man, ND really got Drake's aging spot on.

And lol at the people saying Drake looks too real and not cartoony enough. I mean wtf? This is a perfectly natural evolution of Uncharted's technological capabilities and ND are doing superb work here it seems

I'm still hoping they bring it down to locked 30fps so we can get even more eye candy.

Wouldn't be surprised if they added a lock option like previous exclusives have. However I don't think they're going back to 30fps.
"Being able to compare apples to apples like we have now with The Last of Us, going back and playing the 30 Hz version feels, to quote some people in the office, 'broken.'"

I think this is the pre-rendered Drake with 8 PS4s, there is no way in the world that this model is a gameplay model.

Obviously a CGI or art, even if the game was 30 FPS i wouldn't buy this as gameplay, even more so with 60, you should lower your expectations quite a bit.

Thank you for your insight...

Something tells me Nolan's still really bummed about Amy's departure.. Obviously he's a professional (just look at this beautiful pic) but here's hoping he still has a lot of love for this franchise! (Although this seems to be the last one)

You are the soul of this party.

He looks ugly now =(

If I try to kill you for multiple years, kick your ass a few times, throw you down a waterfall, trick you into thinking I killed your best friend, etc. Will you look like you just came out a beauty salon?

lol i'm just messing around. :p

I'm a bit curious now though. If Drake looks more like Nolan now, does this mean everyone else will look like a mix of their og character design as well as their voice actor?

I just hope they dont make him too old this time. Drake still has atleast 2 more games in him. He is a great character. Dont move too fast with him ND.

I hope he will look 5 years younger than that in the final game.

Sully will definitely die of old age in this game when we reach the mid point of the story. There is no way that guy can still go if Drake is in his late 40's (judging from how he looks, he looks like he is 47-50 years old.)

So now Drake's the good guy who's surrounded by evil sociopaths on a killing spree?
I'm so confused right now...

I'm curious, how are you getting that from this picture? Why would North feel that way, exactly?

Sully has to be around 70 now. Hopefully whatever role he plays this time is pulled off in style. Even after UC3 I still need that Sully fix.

This thread shall live long in the memory as the place where Nathan Drake was changed into Patrick Stewart dressed as a lobster in the bath, with no faltering steps inbetwixt.

I got nothing from this picture per se, my comment had nothing to do with Nolan's facial expression, although I understand why you'd assume that - It was seeing him in the mocap suit when it simply dawned on me: This is he first Uncharted she isn't directing. And they're friends, they keep in touch. They obviously enjoyed working together. That was my train of thought, there isn't any hidden agenda. So sorry if I somehow offended any of you. And I can't wait to play U4, it'll no doubt be amazing!
