I'm honestly wondering what people are expecting from the game. I think outside of DMC 3 Platinum has made the best action games ever. With all that said, this is a budget game for 15$ and like I said before it looks competent.

We will probably never get a game Avatar game that looks anywhere near as good as the Naruto games or even some of the older DBZ games. Because a lot of time the company working on those are big fans of the series.

Yeah, considering what we know about it...you really have to keep your expectations in check for what it is. And you are right, it will probably be the ONLY good Avatar game to ever exist. It sucks that we never got a full blown game that was great, but it is what it is. I think it looks fine given the price/type of production.

As long as the gameplay comes together and the AI is competent, I'm sure most will be able to look past any of the production shortcomings.

I don't know, if this ends up doing really well then there may be a chance #believe

It would need to do insane numbers to get a full blown release. We might get a second digital title (of the same quality). But I kind of doubt it can do numbers to become a full blown production. I still think this whole thing is bizarre. Like why release this game at all, if Nick had planned to take the show off air? Er what I mean is, Nick made this deal to promote the series. But then within a couple of months, they decided to pull it. And that's on top of them increasingly doing less and less marketing for the show. So the whole thing is strange to me.

maybe they meant for this to be retail release and then decided it would best be distributed across the internet

Not only is the whole thing is bizarre but the numbers that have to be pushed for a full fledged 50-60$ game would be staggering. I love the Avatar series, but I think it might just lack the worldwide appeal for a video game series. Hell the only reason I bring up Naruto so much is because it's one of the few franchise that made a Video games series this generation. Kept up with each release making the games better each time and keeping sales up.

But that's because they advertise the hell out of the games and CC2 volunteered to make them. I think the Avatar series is bursting with great game ideas, but you also have to remember what goes into making license games. The fact that the recent Naruto games are the only ones I can think of that has any sort of effort put into them is rather telling.

With all that said I do think the game will be fun overall.

What's really strange is, Avatar is a pretty big IP around the world. I mean, it has a lot of fans around the world. I guess it's just not good at solidifying these people into purchasing power. It's strange to see an IP as big as Avatar fail, because fans just don't spend money. Then again, I think we live in a bubble to a degree. I know a ton of people (I would say the majority of the people I know), who have never seen Avatar. A lot of my gamer friends that are 25 + have never seen the series either. So while it does have a lot of fans, doesn't seem to have an exact mainstream hold.

What good animated action series will be left when Korra's gone? DC's got none, I don't like any of the Marvel/Disney series, and I'm really sceptical towards Star Wars: Rebels. Seems like we're entering a drought.

Well I guess this is where the big difference is. Avatar is well made and better than a lot of animes. (I can't say the same for the first half of Legend of Korra, but whatever) But it's a cartoon. Anime fans tend to spend a lot more money on merchandise both here and in Japan. Them putting 50 or 60$ down on a game isn't a big deal. Plus anime games, while not the greatest things ever made tend to be made better than Cartoon games which are usually just flat out trash.

Legend of Korra is a western cartoon that takes influences from eastern media. Most fans of the series probably aren't willing to buy figures and what not.

Their lack of merchandise has been disturbing. But he's probably on to something. Even if they did offer merchandise, I kind of question whether sales would be high enough to justify them. It's hard to say anymore, given how incompetent Nick is though. They didn't even try with Korra, so how do we know if it would have sold or not.

I guess they might have done some market research before deciding against it. =/

Watch TMNT 2012.

Unfortunately the series just isn't as big as you'd think. It doesn't just look like a cartoon, it looks like an american cartoon aping anime, which puts off both sides, not to mention the movie probably hurt the franchise a lot. A few places in Europe don't even have dvd releases for TLA.

Yeah its looking pretty bleak out there for Western animation action series at the moment.
I suppose Steven universe can also be considered as its been fantastic so far.

I a just about to say Steven Universe. Is not as good as Avatar but its certainly high quality.

I wouldn't mind more art posters and what not. But I really think it's just the lack of appeal. I don't think Avatar really blew up in other countries like certain animes did here. I do wonder what time slot and what not airs it in places like Japan or France.

I hate and love this at the same time.

Impressive stuff the Book 4 trailer has already managed to surpass the total amount of views for the Book 3 trailer in less than two days.

Aww too cute.

Final season. The stakes are higher. That's why I think Nick is so awful. Like why aren't they capitalizing more on the fact that THIS IS THE FINAL SEASON. Even like regular Avatar fans would probably get interested to tune in. Since this could be the last time we get anything Avatar related.

The other thing is that ratings usually reflect the quality of the previous season, not the current one. So season 3 has ratings that reflect the diminished interest after season 2, and with the quality of season 3 bringing people back in, more are interested in this new trailer.

Yeah Nick really screwed up with the marketing for the Book 4. They pretty much already have all the groundwork there waiting to go with it being the final season of the show and also coming off a much celebrated third Book.
Could have easily made a big event of it that would have guaranteed views but nope shove it online and market it as little as possible.

I don't really think that the quality for Book 2 had much of an impact on the ratings more of the constant changes in timeslots and poor marketing as no ones going to watch if they don't even realise its on TV at the moment.

I hope for a sequel to the platinum game that takes place after season 4 as either korra or a new avatar that way platinum can go all out.

Yeah that is a good point. I think, a lot of people were turned off by how Book 1 ended. But I also think, the show took SO LONG to come back, that a lot of people kind of lost interest. I knew quite a few people that didn't even know Book 2 was back, until we were half way into the season. Nick didn't do the best job advertising that either, and the production time between seasons was terrible.

Again, why didn't Nick keep the timeslot that was already successful. IMO even if you have fans that don't want to watch Book 2 after 1, you have a higher chance of getting new viewers, or viewers that were lukewarm, to watch Book 2 if it's on Saturday morning cartoons anyways. Why not? It's a cartoon on in the morning, during the timeslot you watch...cartoons.

And like, at the point that Book 2 started to drop massively in numbers, I don't get why they didn't try to correct it, by moving it back. Or hell, why didn't they make the Avatar Wan beginnings episodes a major selling point? That shit directly impacts old Avatar Fans. It should have been advertised as like a mini-movie event. They could have used that to also re-launch the show on Saturdays to correct the Friday mistake.

But nope. So yeah, I agree that the ratings dropped in part because of Book 1's ending. And I also think, the same can be said for Book 2 not being well received by a lot of fans. And that impacting Book 3's ratings. And I think Book 3 being a massive hit (among critics and fans), probably drew people back in for Book 4. So I agree. I think quality definitely impacts ratings. I still think Nick did some truly baffling things though to make it worse.

Season 2 was so bad to me that I honestly was tempted to give up the series after that. To put it in perspective outside the Wan episodes, I think season 2 of Korra is worse than all the shit in part 2 of Naruto...and I think Part 2 of Naruto is garbage!

Though Season 3 was really good, so I'll probably be more aware of season 4

Season 2 is seriously underrated. It probably is still the worst season of Avatar but it's actually pretty awesome.

It does have a few weak episodes, and Tenzin and co's story in the first half is pretty dull, and the ending is very deus ex machina, but still. Varrick is awesome. Wan's two parter is awesome. The spirit world episode is awesome. Plus it has an Admiral Xhao cameo. It's nowhere near as bad as people make out.

We've gotten 0 footage from the 3DS game tho.

It's supposed to be different from the digital game.

Yeah isn't it like a turn based strategy game or something? Seems like the sort of genre that doesn't fit with Avatar at all but it could be good I guess.

I knew some people that gave up after Book 2. If I wasn't so obsessed with the show I would have too lol But I convinced them that Book 3 really was that good and I got them to jump back in.

Something to consider is that, not eveyone liked Book 1 like I did. So Book 1 and Book 2 was enough for people to stop watching.

Yeah I'm still in the opinion that Book 2 improves a great deal in the second half of the Book after what was a pretty poor disjointed start to the Book. But I still think its safe to say in my opinion that it has some of the best episodes (Beginnings Part 1 and 2) of the show but it also has some of the worst.

Book 2 was quite a mess outside of Wan's adventure, mostly for a lot of the character development and a really dull villain espeically in the first half. Combine that with the crap Nick did to this book, it was a really mess up time. Sad that Nick is treating even Book 4 a bit crappy, but well I not surprise anymore.

I think it improves leading up to the finale. But I absolutely hated the finale. Actually found it worse than Book 1s (although Book 1s ending was so bad). But I can agree the second half is better than the first half by a substantial margin.

Was it said who the developers were for the Korra game on the 3DS? We haven't even seen what the game is like, so not really looking good on that one.

Its being done by Webfoot Technologies which i've never even heard of before so I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.
I don't think they've even shown any footage or screenshots yet for the 3DS game lol.

A Webfoot Technologies-developed turn-based strategy version of The Legend of Korra will also hit Nintendo 3DS this year. Where Platinum's action game is all about fast-paced martial-art combat, the 3DS game will "focus on tactically maneuvering Korra and her allies on the battlefield."

I have only just heard that the trailer for Book 4 was unleashed upon the masses, so I have to check it out. I wasn't expecting the time skip, along with how Korra has gone to self-exile herself from the world. I also wasn't expecting Meelo to have grow his hair back.

With Super Smash Bros. 3DS & the new season of TMNT coming out on the same day, it's going to be one heck of a party.

Looking at the games they were involve with, I don't really have much faith lol. Not having been shown yet doesn't help it at all.

Not like I had plans on getting it anyway through. My 3DS will be happy with Super Smash Bros, Pokemon, and maybe Star Fox for the rest of the year.XD
