The other thing is that ratings usually reflect the quality of the previous season, not the current one. So season 3 has ratings that reflect the diminished interest after season 2, and with the quality of season 3 bringing people back in, more are interested in this new trailer.
Yeah that is a good point. I think, a lot of people were turned off by how Book 1 ended. But I also think, the show took SO LONG to come back, that a lot of people kind of lost interest. I knew quite a few people that didn't even know Book 2 was back, until we were half way into the season. Nick didn't do the best job advertising that either, and the production time between seasons was terrible.
Again, why didn't Nick keep the timeslot that was already successful. IMO even if you have fans that don't want to watch Book 2 after 1, you have a higher chance of getting new viewers, or viewers that were lukewarm, to watch Book 2 if it's on Saturday morning cartoons anyways. Why not? It's a cartoon on in the morning, during the timeslot you watch...cartoons.
And like, at the point that Book 2 started to drop massively in numbers, I don't get why they didn't try to correct it, by moving it back. Or hell, why didn't they make the Avatar Wan beginnings episodes a major selling point? That shit directly impacts old Avatar Fans. It should have been advertised as like a mini-movie event. They could have used that to also re-launch the show on Saturdays to correct the Friday mistake.
But nope. So yeah, I agree that the ratings dropped in part because of Book 1's ending. And I also think, the same can be said for Book 2 not being well received by a lot of fans. And that impacting Book 3's ratings. And I think Book 3 being a massive hit (among critics and fans), probably drew people back in for Book 4. So I agree. I think quality definitely impacts ratings. I still think Nick did some truly baffling things though to make it worse.
