Ooh awesome stuff man, have never tried it expired, that should be fantastic! There is something about the way slide film catches light. Plus the negatives (well transparencies) look amazing, I want to make a back-lit frame to mount my slides on in my living room at some point.

Ha, that sounds cool (Might have to steal that idea... <.< >.>).

Here's my first roll using Fuji 400H, I'm really digging how the images came out, and it probably replaced Portra 400 as my favorite film. Unfortunately there's a scratch through out the entire roll... :(

Haha, I think I stole the idea from somewhere else so feel free! lovely tones on these shots, not shot any fuji C41 film in ages. Think I have a 35mm superia in the freezer I may have to dig out

Toluca, Mexico
PentaxMeSuper
Kodak Portra160

Very nice work! have just shot a roll of Portra 160 myself so hope they come out as well as that :)

Ventured back to give my Nikon FE some love as I have been almost strictly medium format for a year. I do love this R0llei 400s retro film

What camera did you use for these? That's medium format, right?

I'm a lazy photographer. I know everything you need to know about a camera, but I just don't feel connected with some things I take photos of, especially with digital. Here are some photos that I've taken. Feel free to check out the rest my stream.

Warning:
My photos lack a general consistency of style; it's all over the place.
:p

Taken at Twin Peaks, SF. I was sitting around chatting with locals that had been partying all night. One of the guys was formerly a photographer for Rockstar who captured assets for textures and references. He worked on a canceled motorcycle game located in S.F. Pretty interesting.

Went out last night and decided to try out street photography. In the 6 years or so I've been into photography, I'm not sure if I've even once gone out with no goal in mind.

These were my 3 favorite shots:

Sorry, I'm still trying to learn about film and for some reason I assumed 400H was only available on medium format. :P

Anyway, awesome pictures!

Thanks! this was actually my first roll using 400H I'm no expert but I've had some experience with different films, and there's others, like Damage, who are also into film. if you have any questions, ask away.

Really nice work with these, whereabouts in the world are you? What camera and lens did you use?

I have replichrome to emulate film look but I can't get that look you have with real film.

I think you can get close once you start to mess about with tone curves but there is something about the way film reacts to light that you just wont get with digital. Not anti digital as I love my D7000 just enjoy both aspects of photography

hey everyone so i just celebrated my 24th birthday and i'm gonna scoop a new lens for my Nikon D5200.

I can't decide between a really fast 50mm or an extreme wide-angle lens (i have a huge bonesaw for fisheye so i assure you this will get used a lot)

what should i do?

currently using a 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 and a 55-200mm 4-5.6

i'm really leaning toward a 50 at around 1.6-1.8 but can't decide. i have about $200 to spend, what should i be looking at?

note: i'll be using these for a lot of video

Personally I find 50mm a little too long on a crop sensor. I would suggest having a look at the nikkor 35mm 1.8 dx lens which is a fantastic bit of kit and dirt cheap brand new

as for fisheye I think you may struggle in your budget but you may find the tokina 11-16 or sigma 10-20 lenses to be wide enough. Otherwise Sigma do a very cool fully circular fisheye 4.5mm 2.8f that I have rented a couple of times, bit of a one trick pony though

Thanks for the input. Idk what a 35mm would come out to with the crop ratio, you're saying it'll be closer to 50 than the actual 50? The 35 seems like it would be more versatile in video. I've been shooting at 50 with the kit lens and coming out with some pretty cool exposures, so I'm a little resistant because I was really sold on a 50.

But ultimately if 35 w/ the crop factor is truer to 50 than the numerous 50dx lenses I'll go that route. But to me $200 isn't dirt cheap lol

Yeah I think 35mm on a crop sensor is around 52mm full frame equivalent, Maybe see if a local shop has a demo one you can try? If you like the length of the 50mm then go for it, Im only speaking for my taste :)

Sorry, obviously $200 is still a lot of cash, my phrasing was poor, I think the 35mm for that price is very good value and you get very good bang for buck

What do you think about the Fujifilm X100s? I have been studing this camera I think I might get one but first I would like to have the opinion of someone that has one

It is a de facto street camera, unapologetically so. I have an X100, and honestly the dang camera is excellent but you need to have a taste for rangefinders to get from it something other cameras won't offer. Prefocus and flash on with an X100 is probably the most fun i've ever had doing street with a camera ever. Plus it looks fuckin nice with the hood on.

35mm is so hard tho ;_;

I went hiking this morning, these are some of the pictures I took.
