Speaking about the story who the fuck came up with the Darkness? I mean, were the writers 6 or something.

Before it went down, I managed to comlete most of the bounties, and finally get my hunter to 24! Woo!

Do I stand a chance on queens wrath missions? Would love to knock some of those out.

I'm glad I was never hyped for this game and never really anticipated it, to be honest. If it wasn't for the free beta I wouldn't even be in this thread.
The thing for me is that I really like the game. I'm just really disappointed in the lack of story. Gameplay-wise I can't get enough.

Agility or Armor for Sungsingers?

I feel like the overshield w/ melee and the addition of more defense with Radiance make sense... Not sure if that's how I should be playing it.

Well, it let me in, but it gave me 2 errors which said "Your account cannot use user-generated content" and "Your account is restricted from using voice and chat features in this game" before it finished connecting. I have no idea what is going on.

I am so glad Shadow of Mordor is coming out so I can drop this game for a while and it hopefully improves.

There is nothing worthwhile left to do in Destiny asides from the raids, because those actually feel exhilarating and meaningful when you finish them. But thats because you can only do them once per week, and are pretty hard to get a group together to do it.

The story if you can call it a story is the most hollow narrative I think I have ever seen in a game. I don't mind minimalistic story telling, its actually really cool when its pulled of well like in the souls games.... but Destiny just over indulges its self in its nothingness of a narrative. The main characters in the story don't even have real names. There is your guardian, your ghost, the speaker, the exo stranger.... thats her name, the exo STRANGER.And the queen and the queens brother, again also what the game refers to them as. And whose brilliant idea was it to not include the lore in the game? That is one of the biggest oversights I have seen in a while. Looking at the early trailers, and reading the reddit post, it really does feel like corporate put their hands in the soup and splashed around. Reddit post sounds infinitely more interesting than what we got.

The actual shooting mechanics feel great. It feels good to shoot things, but holy shit the mission design is awful. Every mission and strikes all follow the same pattern. Go here, shoot everything in the room, hold square to dinkle, kill the things while dinkling, move on, repeat dinkling if necessary, done. Patrols are even worse because all it fucking is is farming. Boring, monotonous farming. I do not want to run in circles anymore just so I can fucking progress in the game. I can't do it anymore. I don't want to look for helium filaments anymore. Why not offer them as rewards for defeating enemies, or let them be exchanged for glimmer? Instead we need to abuse chest spawns and run in circles for hours on end just so we can progress. Fuck whoever though the light idea for leveling was good. Its not.

And honestly Bungie, yeah destiny is a different game post 20.... It's a worse game.

I am just replaying story missions again, doing the same bounties again, Its addicting, sure... but I am making no progress because of all the time caps bungie has implemented on this game.

I got suckered in by the alpha and beta and bought the season pass.... I'll check the content that comes in them later when its available, but I am done for now.

See you space cowboys... I am walking into mordor.

The Forerunners went from being hinted at -- "this cave is not a natural formation" -- to being explicitly speculated about to being elaborated on via Guilty Spark. Oh, which reminds me of another awesome plot detail from the game: the Halo ring being a weapon to destroy all sentient life in the galaxy. That game was full of plot!

And the conclusion was awesome, too. "Oh shit, the Halo ring is gonna kill us all, what do we do?" "Let's override the fusion core or whatever, make the Pillar of Autumn explode, and turn the ring into splinters." And then they capped it all off with a really original (at the time, especially) Warthog escape run (with yet another awesome story moment with Foehammer).

All of that is WAY better than anything in Destiny.
of course halo is a much stronger narrative in destiny. It's no masterpiece of storytelling itself but it has a protagonist and a few memorable characters, which Destiny basically doesn't even attempt. the stand-in counterpart to Cortana isn't even a named character and Dinklage's performance is baffling. it's the most barebones framework of narrative you can put into a game, if you can't get past that and enjoy the game for the things it does right you'll never have a good time with destiny

need someone with decent solar weapons for the nightfall on PS4 right now.

I'll help out, shoot me an inv if you'd like. PSN ID is Seragos also.

i don't see why ghost needs to be a character.

all the player character guardians, and their ghosts, are just as expendable as the guardians that come before us.

Not paying attention is not what makes Kingdom Hearts story confusing to many, many, people. It's convoluted.

I've paid attention to and understand the logic behind all of the KH games (though 3D was kinda stretching it with the twist reveal). It's fucking stupid and insane and convoluted but I paid attention and I understand fully.

Ask me anything about Kingdom Hearts. I'm an expert.

Except we (each one of us in our own Destiny split timeline) are the only one to get any form of shit done. We are the chosen one, the most important Guardian in centuries.

he doesn't. i completely agree. mostly because the character is ME, not a character. it just doesn't make for a strong narrative.
I can hop on, but I'm level 25.
think we got help but thank you Dax

I'm not saying no one understands it. I'm saying many people don't because it's convoluted.

Opinions. I find the lore of Destiny more appealing than Halo .

Oh yeah, I love a lot about the game. The story is just so disappointing, though.

So tired of reading all the story complaints. We get it. Or at least, I get it. Let it go! This wasn't going to be Bioshock or Deus Ex anyway.

No, When a game try to do a story but fail in everyway it should be call out for it, I mean super mario 3d world has a better fucking story then this game.

So much cut content or content put behind a paywall... :(

Not sure if this has been posted, but here's a Reddit thread analyzing everything that got changed in the past year and possible reasons: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheG...destinys_content_completely_changed_over_the/

I found it interesting and a bit frustrating.

That's all very interesting and while its authenticity is hard to verify, some of it does match actual evidence.

If true, the most likely cause is probably because Activision wanted to stretch the story out across DLC and the change came too late in development to fill in all the empty space.

We'll see if any of this shows up in future expansions. By then it might be too little too late but hopefully they finally bring the story.

As soon as I saw that Joe Staten bounced, I knew the story was fucked.

He probably saw the writing on the wall.

When he left I figured it was because he didnt agree with what was being done with the story. Now that we know it has no story, I wonder what he had been working on all that time.
If the story was indeed removed and moved to expansions, perhaps he disagreed with how fucked that would make the main Destiny release. All his hard work got totally shat on for money.

That fits in with the cinematic from last year where we run into that guy with the funky voice who trains their gun on us. "I just want to talk." "Out here in the wild, this IS how we talk."

There was clearly a lot of narrative cut. I want to know the story of what happened to the story, almost as much as I want to know the original story.

"I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain."
