Got a second exotic bounty. Decided to pick the Super Good Advice one. Seemed easier than the other one. I'm not wasting time dismantling 10 rare fusions rifles then playing the awful PvP.

To be fair, this would have probably worked fine if said engrams were actually random drops alongside the current color-coded ones that would work like they will after patch. Like a "Corrupted Data Engram" with a separate drop asset that had more random results when decrypted.

The way it was actually done though was a surprisingly ignorant mistake for the time and resources involved with the project.
these are 100% my thoughts. they had the opportunity to communicate their function clearly to the player, just botched it somehow.

the system after the patch will be really interesting. it will feel a lot better though, at the very least, you won't feel like you're getting screwed all the time.

To sell more expansions maybe? No idea... the story is just bloody horrible. Literally talking to people when doing the Strikes and no one knows why the hell we are doing anything we are doing.
If the gameplay wasn't so damn addicting I would be kicking myself for buying the Digital Guardian edition by now.

Yeah. Destiny wouldn't be sitting at a 77 (!!!!!) Metacritic right now if the story were anywhere near the level of Bungie's Halo games. Activision shot the game in the foot - but why?

I quite frankly do not believe that Bungie somehow forgot how to script and animate FPS story missions and that's why they dropped the plot. That makes zero sense.

It's a very easy mission, but unfortunately not a particularly good weapon. I am a huge fan of heavy weaponry (anyone that remembers the F:NV thread probably understands this) but even I can't get excited about mine. I'd rather have a decent legendary HMG or a different exotic like Thunderlord or Gjallahorn for that slot.

Destiny |OT6| That Lizard Came from the Moon!

Okay, horse is dead- Im done! I'm not sure If I will continue to play once Mordor comes out, I've become disheartened with the whole experience.

My feeling is that even if the odds aren't really changed it'll at least feel like you are getting what you deserve instead of feeling screwed out of legendaries. I don't have a problem with the current drop rate/odds but I do have a problem with the disappointment and misleading nature of current Legendary Engrams. Glad it's getting changed and am interested to see exactly how the drop rates/odds are.

Agreed. I have Super Good Advice, but Zombie Apocalypse is a much better machine gun, and it's only a Legendary.

Perhaps you should be making the big bucks, friend.

pocket infinity is just the better choice in that scenario. oh well. super good advice is a silly gun, probably funny in pvp for a laugh.

speaking of which, I need 2 with voice for 3 skirmish matches. I'm getting this bounty done and I just cannot do it with randoms. I caaaant

RNGesus must hate me. Just got out of a strike where one guy got 3 Legendary endgrams. Going to take it out on peeps in Crucible by being a douche invis hunter, sniping people across the map with my ice breaker.

Might get a buff with the patch though.

I think I just found a big plot-hole. If the traveler powers the guardians and is K.o or sleeping and can only protect one city, why can the guardians wage wars on 4 planet against 4 different opponents who can easily beat them?

The Traveler doesn't have the energy to explain to you why it doesn't have energy?

I definitely hope it is on their list with Bad Juju and Thorn, because it is on that level in my opinion. It bugs me more with this weapon because the quest itself makes you think the weapon has a lot of personality (it apparently speaks to everyone and the mission is actually to improve the weapon's mood) but then you get it and it is basically a rare HMG with a yellow icon.

Perhaps you should be making the big bucks, friend.

I do okay. ;D

This. Their downfall was colour coding the engrams which from a UX perspective completely shattered what they wanted out of the system.

The Traveler put the last of it's power into the Ghosts. The Ghosts are what give the Guardian their power (which is why it's the Ghost that resurrects you when you die in-game). This is explained when you first talk to the speaker and reinforced in the first moon mission where The Hive killed the Guardian you find and then grabbed the Ghost before it could run or revive him.

Well that's shit. I also have the bad juju bounty. I sure know how to pick em lol

It's been confirmed that bad juju and Thorn are being looked at by bungie for buffs. I just picked up the bad juju bounty today in hopes it'll be pretty decent. From what my buddies say if it's fully upgraded as it stands it's not a bad rifle.

it's hilarious to me how much of the rage over this game stems from this issue, an RGB value essentially- this should be taught in classes about simple mistakes in game design that have a large psychological impact on players

It really is fascinating. If they were just a different color, reactions would be completely different.

I just don't understand what the hell they were thinking. Pick up a legendary in Diablo 3 and you get a legendary. Pick up one in Borderlands 1 and 2 and you get one. Pick one in Destiny and you get a green :/

I mean, this is loot 101.

Speaking of exotic weapons, we can all agree the Suros Regime is ridiculously OP in PVP, right? I knew I should have bought it while I had the chance.

The "alpha tester" story that his theory is based on is on Bungie.net.

Synopsis by memory in spoiler text:

You're ressurected from dead to become a Guardian but early in the story you're kidnapped by a Mysterious Stranger named Crow (not the same as the one we got in the released game) and he's there with a few other Guardians who have lost their Ghost. He reveals that The Traveler didn't actually bring the Golden Age but brought The Darkness that destroyed Humanity but over the centuries the Speaker retroactively changed the story to make Humanity believe The Traveler was their savior. He then explains a few missions, one of which being a twist on the Moon mission where you destroy the thing The Hive was communing with but in that version that thing was trying to resurrect The Traveler so it could finish destroying Humanity.

Nothing particularly compelling and a tired concept imo. But it could be entirely made up based on some of the theories that were already floating around.

Wow. My friends and I were joking about this literally being the plot twist of the story (prior to us actually finishing it and finding out there is no "story"). I fucking knew it.

Assuming this is true, that is. Either way, I'm not really that bothered by the story (or lack-thereof) since I've never really liked Bungie's storytelling and didn't care for Halo's story.

and even positive in some cases? getting an exotic from a white engram. imagine.

That's the thing, they're not like those. they're now shoehorning them into acting like them, because a precedent of frustration has been set and you can't change how you're communicating the system after the fact, you have to actually change the system. everyone knows what they WANT a legendary engram to do, and now they will. but it will essentially just feel better, not be better. lol
