cool thanks

Also another random question, I just got the exotic bounty for thorn (was a choice between bad juju or thron because I just finished the invective) and was reading the quest line for it. When it says you need to get 500 void kills in pvp, is that only with void weapons or would my grenades and novabomb on voidwalker count as well?

It's Void Damage, and it's points, not kills.

5 points for a kill, -2 for a death.

As a Hunter, I was dreading it, and thought it would go on forever. Then I equiped a Void Fusion Rifle and LMG and I quickly got through it.

With a Warlock and your fancy Nova Bombs and Vortex Grenades, it should go by pretty quickly. As long as you maintain a reasonable K/D (anywhere around 1.00 in this context), you'll make progress. I was finding on good games, I'd get anywhere between 50-75 points.

So this exotic bounty for Thorn says to get 500 points in the crucible using void damage and if you die it takes away points.

Impossible? Seems impossible. I can't get it to go higher than 15 points, lol.
Not impossible, I've done it and so have many others. If you're a Titan you can use your defender class with a shotgun with void damage or fusion rifle, plus your melee kills will count as void damage. Did it in about 5-6 matches.

For people who don't have any immediate plan to do the Raid on Hard mode yet are Level 28, there is no reason to fully upgrade weapons to 300 Attack, correct?

Me at 28 versus an enemy at 28, I will deal the same damage to him if my weapon is at 300 Attack compared to 267 Attack, correct?

Only the higher Attack matters if I am going up against Level 29 enemies and above.

I'd like to know this. However, I tested out upgrading weapons against some Cabal way lower leveled from me. There was a slight increase in damage after one damage upgrade on the Shadow Price.

I dunno how this stuff is applied to enemies/guardians at equal level or above.

Heh, I just posted about that too a minute after you. To clear something up, it's not 500 kills with void damage. It's 500 points. 1 kill = 5 points. But everytime you die it takes away 2 points.

For me, hovering around a 1.1 kdr this is basically impossible. Especially since primary weapons don't have void damage as far as I can tell. There's no way I can maintain that to get 500 points using secondaries.

This is an interesting question, I haven't thought about this. Would be interested in knowing the answer as well. I recently upgraded my exotic scout to 300 damage and now that you mention it, I don't know if I've noticed a dps/crit increase on same level mobs (28).

I know that with 267 damage I was critting most trash mobs for 508 damage. I'll check when I get home after work and update you if I'm doing more now with 300, if this doesn't get answered first.

Just an FYI to anyone doing some engram farming: save your blues in your inventory until the patch Tuesday, for a couple reasons.

First: they have a higher chance to roll legendary than before. Second: you will use them post-patch to upgrade your cryptarch and possibly get some good legendary engrams from the post master, which should decrypt into a guaranteed legendary.

They do not have a better chance to roll legendary. New engrams do after Tuesday's patch do.

That being said, the second part of your post is absolutely true and why my Cryptarch has been sitting at 2999/3000 for several days. Several people beside myself came to the idea independantly, so I have no doubt Bungie did not think of it.

Why do people call them ass shards? It sounds horrid plus there's no double s.

Should jst call them shards.

Resentment.

So we have an definite answer on how to get exotic bounties?

Because I am level 28 and haven't gotten shit, even though I have been doing bounties.

Also, it does help to max out the damage of a legendary weapon to get the trophy/achievement.

I think I'm going to invest all these Energies into my Shadow Price. I don't see myself dumping this gun anytime soon.

Hmm, that would be a strange system if that's the case. Clarity would be nice.

I vaguely remember you posting about your Shadow Price in the past and how you enjoyed it (not the vanguard vendor version) - I believe you had fast reload perk? Do you think the vanguard vendor version of the SP is still worth purchasing? My only AR right now is a Shingen-E.

I am pretty sure it does increase damage against stuff the same or lower level. The damage on my hawkmoon shot up a ton going from base to 300 attack on the same monsters I was killing before.

I don't trust the logic at all and will be upgrading to 300 on my Suros. Anecdotally, it always felt like it hit harder against same level enemies as it rose.

That and it uses Energy, anyways, so it's not like it's a huge barrier :).

So this exotic bounty for Thorn says to get 500 points in the crucible using void damage and if you die it takes away points.

Impossible? Seems impossible. I can't get it to go higher than 15 points, lol.

I got this over the weekend. Void fusion rifle + void machine gun. Playing rumble or skirmish is helpful since the smaller maps will put you in more close quarters fights where you can use the fusion rifle more often. Still took me a while and it took its toll on my KDR since it got me playing less optimally and forcing the fusion rifle in situations where I'd usually use my primary. Next step is the level 26 version of the moon strike and I'm stuck there...and I thought the grind for the Bad Juju bounty was annoying....

I ended up completing this challenge using the strategy of playing rumble pit with a void shotgun and rocket launcher. It takes a few matches to get used to, but after a bit you can earn some large chunks of points in a match. Also, don't hang around if the players in the match are just dominating. You can drop out at anytime without any repercussions to the challenge from what I noticed. When you hear heavy ammo inbound go and guard the heavy crate and use it to get 2 easy kills with the rockets.

You can also give the fusion rifles and heavy machine guns a chance. Find what works best and try not to think you will complete it in 1 sitting. I ended up spacing it out over a week and worked on 50-100 points at a time.

I am a Titan, can you explain why I should use defender over striker class?

They do not have a better chance to roll legendary. New engrams do after Tuesday's patch do.

Do we know this for sure? Bungie has said that all legendary engrams will be turning into blues post-patch to prevent hoarders from having better luck, correct? If they could preserve the old engrams roll rates/chances as you are saying, then why would they need to change the old purples to blue ones?

Agility is so intoxicating. I've seen some others stating that they don't see a difference with it, but I love min-maxing for agility and using one of my two Shadow Prices (got one from a drop and one from hitting rank 3 with Vanguard) that give a "2 point bonus" to agility. It feels like putting the game in hyper mode and inputs just feel more... seamless.

If Hunters get nerfed hard enough I may just roll one as a secondary character.

Let my Titan take a short dip in level, back to 27, by equipping a new chestpiece. The one I had gave me extra ammo for Fusion Rifles and Hand Cannons, which my Titan rarely uses, while the one I equipped now gives extra ammo for Shotguns and Auto Rifles, my most-used weapons. Too bad dismantling the old piece of gear doesn't give you back the mats you used to upgrade. All those shards wasted. :'(

Any source of void damage that kills will count, so any void melee / grenade / super will work.

Any void damage counts. I did 7 matches last night as a defender titan with a void sniper and void LMG which got me 250ish of 500.

It isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Just camp like crazy to preserve K/D.

Yep, it counts. So does the melee afaik.

It's Void Damage, and it's points, not kills.

Thanks for all the replies, guess I'll have to grind this out tonight, shouldn't be too difficult since its not 500 kills and i can use void abilities

Yeah I just had a quick number crunch.

I'm on 89 light, with four more available upgrades without using ass. shards (apart from the Exotic), and I apparently need 98 light for level 28.

I do have 45 ass. shards; am I being overly cautious?

The only way to get to level 30 is raid gear so some people choose to save all their shards until they get raid gear and then use it on that. Others (like me) choose to go ahead and level their legendaries with the plan to do the raid on hard before level 30. It's ok to hold on to your shards until you find the perfect gear that you want because they are so hard to come by so I wouldn't say you're being overly catious at all.

I will only play it with you. :)

I think the Vender version of the Shadow Price gives you a fast reload after getting a kill with the last bullet along with getting increased accuracy the longer you shoot. I would've probably bought it with Marks if I didn't get the drop. I say go for it. This just means you'll be making headshots quite easily.

The reload speed-oriented version I have works well with the 25 ammo clip. That's the biggest issue with the gun and shooting it long enough to get the accurracy boost. However, if you throw all your bullets at one enemy to kill it doing so, you'll get a fast reload.

I've only had one Shingen E and never used it so I can't compare the two, unfortunately.

Zoba it's almost time to kick ass.

Bungie said in their update that it does not affect engrams received prior to the patch. Yes, I suppose they could be lying.

As to why? Prevent confusion I guess, to end the psychological rage when you don't get a purple?

Or even better, so people don't mix up the old purples with new purples and claim it's still "broken"?

Thanks.

I'll see how I feel once the Exotic is maxed, and I've tried the Raid. I really need to sort out sorting out a Raid party.

Cool, thanks. I wasn't sure which AR to go for at this point. I can't remember the stats off the top of my head but I was trying to decide between Shadow Price and Doctor Nope. I'm curious how the stats people generally want on an AR may change post-nerf (whatever that will be). I'm hoping the nerf will just be a steady curve of damage reduction over a distance, but it could be anything. At this point it's hard to know if Range+Impact will factor into the strength of the nerf...

Gotcha, I didn't know they said it wouldn't affect engrams pre-patch, I see it now: "Only Engrams that drop after 1.0.2 are subject to this change."

I'd say its probably to prevent confusion then, wouldn't want people to be mad that it's not working.

This is correct. However bosses don't seem to have a level listed so the question is how much did this game copy WoW. In WoW raid bosses don't have their level listed but are considered to be 3 levels higher than the player for the purposes of the game mechanics. So the question is did anyone test if the damage upgrade does anything against boss mobs that don't have a listed level.

Love shadow for pve, hits so stronk.

Isn't the Vanquisher VIII just an all around better version of Shadow Price, only loses a little range and gains stability and reload speed as well as having a stability mod you can get on it while the Shadow Price does not. The other stats are the same. I can't discern any reason to pick the Shadow Price over Vanquisher from new monarchy.

I've definitely gotten 3 from dismantling an exotic helm before, but I'm not sure if this is a 100% chance.

Yeah.

I was hoping for at least a guaranteed one or two. If it's not even that, it's not worth the chance of getting hosed. I'll just grind the dailies and/or purchase some shit with marks and do the breakdowns to get 'em. I know I'll never see those arms again if I choose to roll a Titan down the line.

Thanks for the info, though!

I bought the vendor version of Shadow Price last week and it's excellent. Great sights and its special perks are that it grows more accurate the longer it is fired, and that recovering from near death grants additional ammo and reload speed -- good for firefights.

I'd definitely recommend it if you enjoy the Cydonia and Galahad rifles.
