Destiny |OT5| New patch out Tues., Master Rahool reportedly crying into his robes

In other news, I found a gun that gives "Plus damage to Oracles in the Vault". I didn't know such a skill/bonus existed. Can't wait to try it out.

All the weapons that drop in the Raid have some kind of Anti-Vault-Enemy mod on them. My guess is it's there to help you gear up for hard mode.

Going to say something that hunters aren't going to like. Put my 26 Titan on the back burner and got my hunter to 12. Love arc blade(it is op), love the melee attack, but man do I hate the cloaks. Yes I said it. I hate the cloaks.

It's cool. We don't like your Titan Shamwows either.

Quick question. Since the Rahool patch is out tomorrow, should I leave any packages I get with the postmaster? If the engrams aren't in my inventory yet then they should be positively affected by the patch, right? Sorry if this has been asked before.

Don't think anybody can know this for sure, but I would think that that is a safe move since what you get from the letters seem to be randomized from when you pick them up. Even if it doesn't work out right you are just waiting an extra day to open them at this point.

I can't post this in a new thread since I'm just a junior member but I'm very interested in figuring out how the Destiny damage/crit damage modifers are calculated in game so we can determine what the best spread of weapon statistics are for each weapon type.

Math is not my area of expertise, but I'm looking for some help with this. Basically, through the bungie.net profile area, I'm able to extract the exact values for a weapon's statistics as shown below. Knowing these values and what damage/crit damage I do to each enemy - I believe we can calculate a formula that will help us determine how Destiny is doing these calculations.

My MIDA Multi-Tool:

The EXACT weapon stats numbers (100 is the max on all of these):
  • Rate of Fire: 42
  • Impact: 36
  • Range: 58
  • Stability: 57
  • Reload: 100
  • Magazine: 21

The full JSON dump of my weapon statistics from bungie.net: http://pastebin.com/BZju3Wsf

If you'd like me to extract your weapon statistics from bungie.net, just post your profile link in here and the name of the equipped weapon you want exact statistics for.

Here is what we need from you in-game to help calculate these numbers after I get your true weapon stats.
  • Crit damage on mobs of lower level:
  • Body damage on mobs of lower level:
  • Crit damage on mobs of equal level (28):
  • Body damage on mobs of equal level (28):
  • Crit damage on mobs of higher level:
  • Body damage on mobs of higher level:

Here's a bit of information on "how the weapon stats work" from http://destiny.wiki.fextralife.com/Weapon+Stats (there's no telling if this is accurate or not, just a place to start):

  • ATTACK: Higher attack allows your weapons to damage higher-level opponents. This stat modifies the Impact stat when you are higher or lower level than your target (reducing or increasing damage). Some Crucible game modes use this stat to calculate damage, some don't.
  • IMPACT - Increases the damage inflicted by each round. This stat is modified by your Attack and your character level vs. the level of the target you are shooting at.
  • RANGE - Increase the effective range of the weapon. This stat determines the distance that your shots hit for 100% damage before they begin falling-off to 50% damage. Range also affects the minimum and maximum size of your “bloom” circle when hip-firing. This stat also effects the size of your circle bloom when firing. Fusion Rifles don't suffer damage fall-off, but instead Range determines the speed of the projectile fired from these guns. (Note: Sights play a vital role in determining damage by increasing the Range of your weapon while aiming. Each Sight has it's own Range multiplier)

Thanks to anyone who can help with this project, once we figure it out I could easily build a tool that would allow you to compare/contrast two weapons and easily see if/how they affect your DPS against certain types of mobs!

One thing i don't understand is how does a sniper rifle that has very little impact cause so much damage?

I just had a skirmish match. I was first on my team, doesn't really matter. I got a titan mark and the two other people got legendary engrams. *sob* You bastard, RNG.

I'm leaving mine in there.

I've even been saving my blues. I'd rather have no chance at getting a green weapon out of them.

Disagree here. I love the look of my hunter.

Would you love it without the cloak, and are you not wearing one of the good looking exotics, like the mask of the third man or the lupi chest? A lot of the chests have odd canisters and tubes on them, and helms have odd things as well.

We simply do not know, because Bungie has not clarified it.

I'm pretty sure all engrams in the game are being reset. From the wording of the PR the item is determined at time of decryption.

Any purple engrams stashed in the vault or at the postmaster are probably going to be turned blue.

You might as well decode them now and still have a chance at legendary.

I would be very interested in figuring that out as well. Are you talking about crit damage specifically? And were you playing a strike with an increased damage modifier?

Sword of Doom if you have time to test it's damage and report back to me with some numbers and a link to your bungie.net profile I'd be happy to look into it.

Anyone wanna help me do some Queen's Wrath missions? I haven't done any yet and I've finished a few of the bounties, so I figured I should probably get on that. I'm a 25 Hunter, PSN tucah.

While I can understand the reasons that you would like such a feature to exist, it would be going completely against the three weapon design. Having access to ~20 weapons at the touch of a button instantly would break the game.

There's a reason why switching weapons comes with an ammo penalty as well as putting yourself at risk from enemy fire.

They could keep the ammo restriction in. But having to run to a hiding spot to switch weapons in menu is annoying. I already have a full arsenal of every type of weapon in my inventory for the strikes so I can switch freely between them for the various types of shields.

Managed to hit 28 early last night; decided not to save my Ascendant Shards for raid gear and just upgrade what I had available.

Also hit rank 3 Vanguard over lunch today, and they sent me an epic Pulse Rifle! I've mostly used Auto Rifles or Hand Cannons but it's a huge upgrade over what I had before which was a level 18 Rare Auto Rifle.

Any raid groups happening tonight after 8pm EST? If you need a maxed Defender/Striker Titan send me a message on PSN: daveyboymo :D

It's annoying, yes. But it's meant to be.

tbh I would like the idea if it was just available in PvE, but you have to see how broken it would be in PvP at least.

agree with darthbob. obviously it'd be more convenient to be able to change classes, "loadouts" and use consumables quickly, especially if you're used to PC games where it's a mouse click away.

but it's supposed to be somewhat inconvenient. it'd devalue the weapon limit, ammo penalties and consumables and may even trivialize some encounters by making your entire arsenal more immediately available at all times. it'd also be annoying as hell if somebody switched classes or weapons in the middle of a fight during a crucible match.

i'm sure there are ways for it to work without dragging the issues along with it, but i personally don't think it's necessary. i'd rather they make the inventory menu snappier because the load times and parallax scrolling are too slow.

I don't think the scale is the same for all weapons.

I believe there to be a global weapon type modifier for the damage calculation equations used, that makes things like snipers/handcannons/scouts do more than ARs for example - a tiered system.

EDIT: Could it be tied to the rate of fire? Think the special for the SUROS, when the RoF decreases, damage increases.

Do the weekly strikes. You could have bought the Suros this past weekend if you had the coins.

thanks, i scrounged up enough to get Suros this weekend but there's a couple exotics I have my eye on and would love to be able to work towards. Not a major major complaint but as I said, kind of frustrating. Most of my items have been bought since RNG doesn't seem to favor me.

Blue engrams post patch may have a better chance at being legendary than legendary engrams currently have at being legendary. Given my current 0/15 run on legendary engrams, I'd still save anything until tomorrow.

I'm being tempted into make a Warlock.

But I love my Hunter so much!

Rahool has been trying to tempt me to make a Warlock by giving me exotic class items lol. He's a sneaky one.

I'll see how I get on in the Raid this week before I make an alt. I only need the helm after all to complete my set. Then I might make a Warlock when my Hunter has finally reached 30. ;)

Question about raids.

I've been running with a team of guys, we made it to the section right before the final boss, but have it a wall.

Our team consists of me lvl 29, 3 27's, a 25 and a 26...
Are the 25/26 players crippling us?
You should be just fine.

My first clear was with five 26's and a 25.

Take a look at your strat.

I just got ejected from a strike with a wired connection. What is going on?

I get ejected from all game modes about 10 times a night in a 2 hour game session. Be glad you have only had it happen once from the sound of it. And I have a wired connection as well.

There are a lot of us that just get randomly booted all the time. It's very frustrating.

Blue engrams post patch may have a better chance at being legendary than legendary engrams currently have at being legendary. Given my current 0/15 run on legendary engrams, I'd still save anything until tomorrow.

I ain't even worried.

Pretty much geared for endgame, mostly need exp and shards to cap everything I found this weekend out.

If anyone else was wondering what the Cabal looked like under their helmets; it took a while to get a good screenshot because they always keel over forward once you pop them:

Ugly bastards!

Bladedancers are making me rage so hard. Such bullshit.

Using that shit pretty much gives you 3-4 free kills each time.
