Destiny |OT5| New patch out Tues., Master Rahool reportedly crying into his robes

All the Reddit talk around cut story elements is giving me a brain bleed. I am loving this game but, oh, what could have been. Here is hoping there is still time (and desire) for a comeback.

I think I'm in that rare atmosphere where I got a legendary from decrypting a blue (I got Shadow Price, the legendary auto rifle), and an exotic from decrypting a legendary (Thunderlord, heavy machine gun).

All of that was more than a few days ago, and I haven't been getting much since...but I guess that's a pretty high success rate, all things considered?

i'd say so

I don't think anyone has really asked for it to be 100% performance based. But the system can absolutely weigh in favor of the best player on the team and keep the same random system for everyone else to not leave the bottom out of the potential drops.

I agree on that. Maybe have the top two on each team have a higher chance of getting greater loot.

24 hours time played in the Crucible, 16 more hours than anywhere else.... Best thing I've got is a purple engram. Gotten better gear from 8 hours in the Raid than I have anywhere else. Still haven't completed it yet, though.

I have such shitty luck.

Stuff like that makes me real sad. Knowing that we will never get the game as intended. Everyone getting the exo starting thing makes so much sense as well.

This is interesting. Someone mentions the trip mines from the intro level and how they're never used again. I completely forgot about those. They introduce it and then scrap it.

Curious: how many hours have you all played plus how many of the following have you found?

Exotic weapons (including bounties)
Legendary weapons
4days and 31mins
Found 1 exotic in PvP. 1 from Bountie. And 2 from Scary Santa.
Found 12 Legendaries. I'm not counting Queen Mission ones.

88 hours.
3 Exotic Weapons. (Two from bounties, one from Xur)
6 Legendaries (8 if you count the two Legendary AR's I dismantled.)

The other team quit 2 seconds into the game. Thanks random rewards. Bungies Loot system in a nutshell.

Oh man, my condolences, this is really fucked up.

Damn. This game is so addictive. I find myself thinking about legendary and exotic stuff during work and school. So far I have around 70 hours in it (not including beta and alpha). Got a few exotics from legendary engrams too.

Most MMOs keep PvE and PvP gear separate and there are very good reasons for that.

Also, remove the goddamned PvP shit from the Exotic weapons bounties.

Yeah, I have a lot of experience with MMO's, and I think it's best to try to keep them separate, but appealing to their audience as well. As far as exotic weapon bounties are concerned, I think it would be fair if some of them were PvP oriented entirely, and others be PvE oriented.

Actually I think the Trials of Osiris is going to be like the PvP equivalent of raiding. It's the thing where you have to spend a Mote of Light to enter, and you get kicked out after a period of time. I think PvP is fine the way it is, with the rewards completely unrelated to performance. But yes, there should be an element of competitiveness to PvP, and I think that's where things like this Trials of Osiris come in and will shine (hopefully) and skill will be rewarded.

I don't even know what that is, never heard of it, but I believe you. I just assumed Iron Banner was the next big thing since it had its own set of gear available. Most of my previous post is just hopeful assumption, things I would like to see happen. I'll have to look up these Trials later, I'm eating popcorn C:.

Level 29 baby!!

OK I'm going to take stock and ramble a bit. Sorry in advance about the length.

1. This community is amazing. Seriously. I've been really ill the last few weeks (and still recovering now) and Destiny has been my go-to for escapism, helped by some really cool GAFfers. I've had some amazing games with posters in this thread, so thanks you guysss.

Agreed! I still need to branch out more though. I still feel weird dropping in on people I haven't played with before. Plus, a lot of you guys are almost always in a full team already.

2. I know we moan about RNGesus etc, but does anyone else at levels 27+ actually have loads of legendary weapons now? I seem to keep receiving them. I don't think I've ever actually bought a legendary weapon and I have maybe 8 or 9 now. None are as good as Gjallarhorn though. :P

I think most of the moaning hits from 22ish to 26. You are too weak to do the stuff that will get the good loot, but you can't rock basic gear anymore, and you just started earning marks at 20.

3. I'm one of the 2 people in the world who think the lore is actually really good. The Vault of Glass is the peak (showing how the Vex can move instantly to Venus and Mars and how they move in and out of time) but each of the factions is interesting - whether it's the Hive moving between dimensions and burrowing underneath the surface of planets to set up torture pits (check out the hooks hanging from the ceiling) or the Fallen's internal politics (Archons, Kells, Houses and Servitors), I find it all fascinating. The settings are interesting too - especially Venus's mix of forests, the Ishtar research area and the Vex's eerie architecture, the Archer's Line on the Moon and the Hellmouth. I actually prefer reading into it and letting my imagination do most of the work (although I completely agree that the in-mission storytelling is shockingly bad).

The lore is great, it's the presentation that is sub-par.

and finally...this game is the most addictive thing I've played in years and years. That's the bottom line, regardless of all of its flaws. I'm on about 90 hours now and I still look forward to Crucible matches and I haven't yet finished the Raid (on any difficulty). I was meant to go to bed a couple of hours ago as I have an early start tomorrow but I just had to finish two crucible bounties. Then I had to just finish off ranking FWC to 3. Then I just had to go and find those last spirit blooms I needed to get to Level 29.

Yes, yes it is. I'm just trying to spend my time leveling up, getting a raid under my belt, pimping out my guns. I really haven't even touched on the Crucible more than a handful of times when a friend wanted to do it or I needed some marks or bounties.

Curious: how many hours have you all played plus how many of the following have you found?

Exotic weapons (including bounties)
Legendary weapons

137 hours:
6 exotics: 2 found or rewarded, 1 bought, 3 from bounties (4 if i bother to finish Thorne)
-red death
-monte carlo
-bad juju
-super good advice
-invective
-suros regime
6 legendaries: 5 found or rewarded, 1 bought
-doctor nope (won it, said nope and then bought the better version)
-final rest II
-admonisher
-the swarm
-unfriendly giant

Did they remove the Earth mission from the Queens Wrath rotation?

Definitely not, since I and two friends just ran it twice not 2 hours ago so the Titan could get the chest piece he was missing. Maybe the chance of getting that mission is lessened, but it's definitely still there.

Taken out of context, since this is specifically referring to PvP. Being last in PvE is completely different, especially in raids, where everyone has a specific job that can alter how you play, and doesn't necessarily mean you are doing badly.

Raids take teamwork and the scores may not reflect contribution.

Strikes not at all, barely any team work required for the most part.

Also, I've been on pvp fireteams where one member would defend an area and score less overall but contribute to the win just as much by their key actions.

Curious: how many hours have you all played plus how many of the following have you found?

Exotic weapons (including bounties)
Legendary weapons

103 hours roughly
2 exotics (Suros and G-horn both from Xur)
1 bounty (got it yesterday for pocket infinity)
4 legendaries
- Atheons Epilogue from Atheon himself
- Unfriendly Giant Rocket Launcher x 3 (all from legendary engrams admittedly)

Edit: it seems ive been kinda screwed over looking at other peoples stats...

Oh well. I'm happy with Suros and Epilogue

They haven't said much about it, other than that you need to spend a Tournament Ticket to enter, and you get a tournament ticket either by winning alot in regular crucible matches, or buying one for a single mote of light. Level advantages are enabled. Once you lose 3 times, you're out. You can earn ascendant materials there, and you get better rewards the longer you stay in. Similar to how Vault of Glass offers raid set gear, the Trials of Osiris offers Trials set gear, and presumably the odds of you obtaining this gear increases the longer you stay in. Possibly being zero until you have a streak of a certian length, but at this point I'm just speculating.

Raids sure.

Strikes no, not for the most part. It's not any different at all.

Besides, I've worked in pvp fire teams where one of us has stayed on defense and scored less but done just as much to help win.

Strikes are very simple. As long as everyone is actually progressing through the Strike together, than there is no reason why everyone should receive something. If there is 1 guy running around collecting spinmetal, then that's an issue with the game itself not having a competent AFK detector, or kick feature.

Curious: how many hours have you all played plus how many of the following have you found?

Exotic weapons (including bounties)
Legendary weapons

97.5 hours (just over 4 days)
Exotic weapons found: 4. (3 bounties 1 Xur)
Legendary weapons found: 6 (2 from Vanguard rankup, 1 from VoG, 3 from engrams)

I have yet to be rewarded with an exotic from crucible, strikes, or engrams. All of mine come from bounties or Xur.

How can I get the No Parley and Fallen Leaders bounties at the same time and have 6 Majors dead on one and only 5 on the Majors and Ultras? I have 2 possible targets on one, but it's lower? I don't get it.

Man, I am one engram from leveling my Cryptarch. And I found a Legendary. What a waste. I mean, I guess I could save it and wait for the patch tomorrow, but that means I will get demoted to rare, right?

That actually sounds pretty damn good. I'm not the type that really enjoys competitive multi-player in FPS games, but objectively, that sounds fun.

I know tomorrow's update will convert any legendary engrams to rares, but are rares going to be downgraded as well? Also, if you level the cryptarch has it been stated that any of the parcels that you leave with the postmaster will not yield legendaries?

somewhere around 200 hours on both characters.
7 exotic weapons including bounties, 7-8 armor pieces
20+ legendary weapons, mostly epitaph snipers and admonisher rocket launchers.

speaking of legendary items, i'm looking for a level 29 for our heroic raid tonight. would really prefer a sunsinger or defender, but being decked as any spec will probably be fine. psn name same as gaf.

PMd.

Titan - Level 22
10 hours
1 Exotic - Xur
2 Legendaries - Rahool Decrypted both while running my Hunter

Hunter - Level 28
3days, 21 hours (wow, I had no idea it was that much)
4 Exotic - 1 Xur, 1 Nightfall drop, 1 Exotic Bounty, 1 Rahool
8 Legendary - From EVERYWHERE

Plus, I've busted up some legendaries for the assmats.

Edit: Just remembered, I busted up an exotic from the Xur mote of light grab bag also.

I like this

Anyone want to do the Daily heroic on the Moon with me?

Level 26 Hunter, want to do it on hard to get those 2 ascendant materials.

PSN: Konopko send a request and let's do it! :)

Destiny is gonna be awesome tomorrow.

Can't wait.

And I have 23 strange coins for Xur on Friday, and I have 23 motes of light!

Just imagine the beating Rahool is going to get while the servers are down. Fantastic.

Hopefully this patch will start an upward slope for the game.

Exotic weapons (including bounties)
Legendary weapons

2 characters, 4 days worth of playtime according to app... My god really? 4 days worth, good god that's civilisation levels of absorption there.

Over the pair, 3 exotic bounties (one ditched) remaining still in progress
1 exotic chest piece
1 exotic weapon (plan c FR last night from legendary, good old Rahool)

1 legendary Hand cannon tonight from Nightfall strike.

All other gear I have I've got from Queens bounty, vanguard merits and hitting Vanguard rep level 5. Strange coins also.

I've much more "bought" gear than good drops.

Unless I get really lucky this next raid run I'm not gonna be level 30 in time for Iron Banner
:( No raid gear yet my first two times through.
