Sadly this time, I'm quite serious. I apologize for bringing FH2 into the conversation, that was rude of me.

I really don't know why people are disappointed. This looks like a photo to me:
This is the first time Sony is down-sampling a B-roll footage, they never did that with the PS4, they didn't do it with Killzone B-roll, not with Infamous B-roll and with The Order B-roll, DriveClub is the first game and now we can't trust Sony's B-rolls ever again completely, so unfortunate that the gaming industry is so misleading and cannot be trusted.
And i really don't get EVO, how can you produce such IQ if you strive to be visually stunning? who cares about all their gimmicks like Volumetric clouds when your IQ is so bad?
Even the most clueless will notice there is something wrong with your game if IQ sucks, but he will never care if there are some special clouds or not :|
IQ is top priority before everything.
very disappointed.
game looks better in motion, most likely?
The game's 1080p resolution is put to effective use too, producing one of the cleanest grades of image quality on PS4. And yet Evolution isn't content to leave it there, backing this full HD setup with an excess of techniques to tackle aliasing from every angle. Asked what anti-aliasing is fit for purpose in this case, DriveClub takes a no-compromise approach.
"It's a mixture. There's a pixel-based system that we're using, there's a temporal-based system, there's FXAA and there's actually a material-based system as well. We've only got four systems in place and we've got another for the key points that we don't quite hit. We obsess about the small details, so we're getting another one to go on top of that, to get on top of the very final image quality issues."
Nope. Had to go put gas on my real car and get some milk. LOL
You're right. They did say that. Hmm..Sigh, DigitalFoundry has already looked at a 4 month old build of the game and said that it has some of the best IQ on the PS4. They've seen it. They've played it. They aren't judging screenshots of the game.
Yeah. It honestly doesn't do the game justice.
You HAVE to see it running in 1080p with all the bells and whistles...
And man ... DAT HYBRID OST
Posting more videos soon if you guys want, since I'm such a good driver.![]()
Because apparently judging games with heavy use of motion blur on screenshots is a thing.
There's no snark in his post. His words are exactly what's flying through my mind right now :/
Yes, bit if I look closely, I can see the jaggies myself ... but I don't care, have never cared and have never noticed them until they're pointed out. I take the whole screen in when I view something, as I do when I play. This game is as close to photorealism as It can get (at the moment) and yet a few jaggies destroys that illusion? I just don't get it.
All of a sudden, this reminds me of that thread where we got the decent looking screenshots where everyone was going crazy only to be followed by gameplay footage that reassured everyone.
I don't get it, honestly. We have direct feed screenshots, gameplay but some compressed share-mode screenshots are causing concern?
What am I missing?
What are you missing? We received highly down sampled videos last week that got everyone incredibly excited. Fast forward to today where someone actually got the retail version and it doesn't look anything like that.
What is there to be confused about?
I don't believe it. There are mod sanctioned trolls on here?? LOL routine??
Wow.
Anyway I need this.

I don't understand, what we have just gotten looks like a completely different game than what was getting everyone hyped...
I honestly don't feel that comfortable holding on to my preorder anymore...
Not sure if you're joking, but just in case.
1) The guy that posted the pics says the game looks and plays great.
2) We've seen direct feed footage and high quality captures that corroborate that assertion.
3) Digital Foundry says the IQ is great and that was an old build.
4) PS4 capture quality sucks.
So.. people have unrealistic expectations because they can't tell what is or isn't downsampled? That shouldn't be a problem for anyone who isn't fooled by bullshots. Everyone smart was questioning the IQ of those videos, just as they should have been.
Fast forward to today, we get screenshots that show us the quality of the game as we've seen it throughout the months, but in screenshot format. On top of that, it's using the PS4 screenshot feature and are compressed.
Then suddenly, one poster thinks that FH2 looks better then DC. Like give me a break. I've been playing FH2 for the past 6 hours and that's not remotely a contest.
People want to be disappointed with the IQ in compressed screenshots? Be my guest, but lets turn back the hyperbole a bit shall we?
So suddenly it's the consumers fault for believing the video's given to them by Sony?
That's some spin if I ever read it...

Except that one has cars motion and the other has them stationary.Except one has completely perfect image quality and one doesn't at all.

It looks exactly the same to me?
Are you telling me you actually believed that the footage in those screenshots was indicative of the IQ of the game despite all the past footage and no confirmation to the contrary?
Why is everyone so eager to believe bullshots and the like? The same happened with TLOU where people thought a down sampled screenshot was representative of in-game quality. The same happened in the Sunset screenshot thread. It boggles my mind.
Yes, it is. Sorry, but if you believe bullshots without so much as questioning it, it is absolutely on you.
That's the opposite of how it works. Temporal AA works by reprojecting pixels from the previous frame (or previous frames, depending on implementation) into the current frame, to use them just like extra samples in supersampling. The less the scene is changing from one frame to the next, the less complex motion there is, the easier it is to correctly reproject.Especially if the game has any temporal AA.

How's the aliasing in real life?
