To be clear, I'm not trying to necessarily excuse it for being occasionally ugly. We've seen the game go back and forth visually between drop-dead gorgeous and completely underwhelming, and it's usually a case of what sort of weather and time of day is in place. It's just surprising to see people having meltdowns (yeah, that's sort of hyperbole on my part) over something we've seen on and off for a long time now.

Rapier, you told us the AA was not godlike and that's ok. But those first images were horrendous, you really did the best anti-climax on this topic. You almost killed me of disappointment for a moment. hahahaha

You can't say it is great when you show those kind of images. I'm fine now. Really appreciated the video. lol

Don't get me wrong. I want to be hyped for this game, but these screens have literally killed all of my hype at once. A year long delay for what? Jaggies out the butt, terrible textures, and this is supposed to be a closed circuit type racer compared to FH2 which does all of the above mentioned better and on the weaker system? I don't know what to say. I'm genuinely confused.
 
I'd love to see more impressions of gameplay (or even gameplay videos) and less complaining about screenshots in the gameplay video thread.

I remember a short amount of time for that, yes. But it's a completely different situation. Those were a matter of different lighting conditions and stuff, not a matter of image quality. Nobody (or very very few) is saying that the graphics themselves got downgraded. They're just saying the image quality looks similar to how it has for a long while now and not like the new gameplay we got.

Considering one of the biggest parts of the appeal of this game is the visuals... It's unsurprising.

Oh yeah, for sure. But if a game has great image quality, you can still tell it does even from the PS4-taken screenshots.

But I am anxious to play the game myself and/or see high-quality screens, even from those same areas if possible!

Expectation were set and are not being met. He's on point with what he mentioned.
All it took was a few screens to kill off some serious hype for me and others I suspect.

I wouldn't have even minded had this game not been delayed for 1+ year.

Some of you "outraged" fellas have some awful short term memory. PS4 capture is the worst. TLoU and inFamous both looked like PS3 games in some early screens. Then lo and behold, everyone started screaming bullshot. Once we all got our hands on the games, that tune changed in an instant.

Calm down. It's going to look ace.

The aliasing is a concern for sure, but I think most of the other problems people have are due to motion blur and PS4's terrible capture capabilities. I've taken plenty of Second Son pics outside of photo mode that looked awful and most of the time it wasn't even my shitty artistic instincts :)
 
I appreciate being able to see these videos and screens from the retail version. There does seem to be more aliasing in the game than those latest b roll videos indicated, which is disappointing. Still, the game looks gorgeous regardless.
 
As an X1 player, I'll say it again. This game looks beautiful. I'm a bit jelly and not sure what all the fuss is about with the recent in-game screenshots by other gamers.

Yes, the game looks bad when you take "still" screenshots, but it's a racing game and all you'll be seeing 90% of the time is the game in motion. And the game looks breath-taking in that department.
