It also really sucks that you are forced to play/grind Crucible for 4/5 of the gear opportunities. Don't like Crucible? LOL

Why not let you use Glimmer, or exchange Glimmer for marks, or exchange Glimmer for materials?

Nod, the game needs some serious faction balance. I said that numerous times in the last OT, it is beyond silly that you are pretty screwed if you do not want to PvP. Honestly no clue why you even need Vanguard/Crucible marks to buy the faction gear. It should be all Glimmer as the currency. If they are concerned about people getting the faction gear too fast change the ranks. Rank 1 for X item, Rank 2 for another, etc.

Already did your daily bounties for the day? Ran the story mission? Did the weekly? Grats, PvP or raid.

Ok hunters are the most useless in raids in strikes I guess?

Shields and reviving seem way more important than Golden Gun or Bladedancer

Bladedancer Hunters have Stealth which is great for Revives. GG is great for clearing the Harpy's in the last phase.

Our clear tonight was 4 Hunters and 2 Titans in fact.

I would be okay with having the option to pay in either crucible or vanguard marks. It's just unfortunately a boring grind for a very small pool of weapons that everyone else will inevitably also have.

That's the attraction of collecting the loot: the chance to get something that few others have. You feel special!

Now, I've ground tokens for gear in MMOs, but for a variety of reasons, that's a slightly different situation (and it's still boring in MMOs too)

Someone come give me tips on pvp on how to be good :( having a horrible night

Fine, here's a quick guide on how to own ass in pvp.

1. Radar - use it and learn to love it, it's better than your eyes will ever be. You always know what you're walking into if you learn how to read the radar pings. Seriously it's like free wallhack. This plays into my next point.

2. Pick your battles, don't fight on their terms fight on yours. If you're alone and you see 2 or more pings on your radar, close to you, you should just run. Don't think about it, run and find space unless you have a super primed. Team shooting is super deadly in Destiny and every other first person shooter for that matter. You will not win a 2 on 1 or worse matchup so avoid them at all costs.

3.Stick with your teammates, the above applies in reverse, if you have 2 dudes and you run into one he's done for unless he has a super. Ergo sticking with atleast one teammate is a good idea. If you notice a guy on your team doing well, start following him, he's probably got a good offensive routeset figured out, or has good defensive positioning, and just being around him will increase your odds tremendously.

4.Don't chase, as in don't give chase to a dude unless you're certain you can get him before running into some other dude or before he baits you into a trap. If you get the first hit on me and I run and you chase I will come out on top 90% of the time, I will either run you into a teammate or setup a grenade/melee combo or anyother number of virtual oneshots for you to run into.

5. Flank, if you see a dude and he sees you and you're stalemating, just flank him. Nine out of ten times people get tunnel vision and stare at the spot you used to be. All guardians have traversal methods that allow you to get around the map really quickly. You can probably be on the other side of him before his shields regen.

6. Get the first shot, in their backs preferably. If they have to turn around to locate you you've already won 9 out of 10 times, likewise if you get hit first just run, get to cover regain shields and reinitiate or extract depending on the situation.

7. Listen for audio cues, your radar is great but the range is quite finite, the audio range is a lot better though. You can hear gunfights from across the map. If used in conjunction with the teammate distress indicator(yellow blinking) you can figure out where 90% of the action is currently happening. Further audio cues to listen for are the noise of supers activating, you're not going to beat a supered up bladedancer/gunslinger/sunslinger but their supers make very distinctive noises. Learn to recognize and run when you hear them. Supers don't last forever.

8. Spawn locations, keep track of each and every location you spawn in. Those are the spawn locations, remember them because that's where the enemy will respawn as well. Spawn locations aren't random and get selected on the basis of enemy player location and look direction. E.g you're entire team in standing on control point C and is looking at B the enemy will most likely spawn at the spawns around point A. Furthermore if you know the spawn locations you know where to look for players leaving their spawn. It's a great spot for kills because people tend to drop their guard after a death and are struggling with their frustration and whatever. They'll probably pop out and mash sprint trying to get back to where they died in some sort of misguided vengeance quest.

9. No revenge, I'm serious, I lol at every dude I shoot because he's on some misguided revenge quest to come get me in a position where I will win 99.9% of every duel we engage in. If you die, don't run straight back to where you were, at best it's going to be abandoned, at worst you'll run into the exact same shit you ran into previously. When you spawn take a second to evaluate what the enemy was doing and adjust.

10. Map control, it's not as important as halo but there are areas that are advantageous to hold. Some of them transient some of them permanent. If you're playing control pick the two points that are the easiest to defend and have the best route between them if you can. Don't bother going for three flags because the game will simply become more unpredictable due to the enemy spawn locations switching to the other side of the map. If you find yourself running from one end of the map to the other while you're playing control you're doing it wrong.

Furthermore memorize the heavy ammo drop locations, it drops 3 minutes into every match and getting the first batch is always sweet. It's still on a 3 minute timer afterwards but that gets delayed by the amount of ammo currently still available. If some dude picked up heavy ammo and jumped into the interceptor and just drives around for 3 minutes with all of his heavy ammo it won't spawn again until he dies and the ammo fades or someone uses it up. The announcer will however call out the heavy ammo drops, pay attention and make a beeline for the heavy ammo drop location as soon as he calls it out as incoming. Be aware that it will likely be a contested area, especially if it's the center one.

11. Only sprint when you need to and combat seems unlikely, it takes longer to ads coming out of a sprint, so if someone gets the first shot on you and you stop sprinting and try to ads you might as well give up because you've lost. Ergo only sprint when it's not going to put you at a disadvantage. This also plays into my final point

12. Patience, don't ever think you need a kill right now, or need anything right now. Play careful, it's easy in a game like destiny to just hit sprint and mash jump to engage in combat but you'll come out on the bottom virtually every time playing like that. It happens to me too, if my brain tunes out and I just start clicking sprint I run into deaths like a champ and end up posting a 0.70 kdr or something otherwise terrible. If I make a mental note to restrain myself and pick my fights I rarely go below 2.00, which isn't elite tier but also isn't bad. What I'm saying is that going 16 - 0 is always better for a team/you than going 25-23, scorewise, kdrwise, and feelswise.

Now, I've ground tokens for gear in MMOs, but for a variety of reasons, that's a slightly different situation (and it's still boring in MMOs too)

Just about everyone I play with and/or seen running around is using the Suros Regime (For good reason too, gun is just insane). I'll be honest, I really want a Hawkmoon. One of my friends got it and has no intention of using it cause he hates handguns.

But yep, overall I would agree, everyone is even starting to focus on the same builds/stats. It is kinda of expected though, same thing happened in D3.

Before I spend my marks, is the Shadow Price really a good weapon? I checked the stats and the 22 bullets seems a bit low.

If I didn't have a SR I would be happy with the Shadow Price. I would wait till the patch hits this week? Double check the adjustments to AR's before dropping that much on a weapon unless you just have to have something now.

Got the hunter to 25 after getting a helm off queens wrath. Now just need boots and gloves to have all legendary armor.

Still no luck on a weapon though. Need 7 more pulse rifles for breakdown, plus the nightfall for Pocket infinity. No legendary primary weapon yet though, which is slowing down progress. Ditto for legendary rocket/chaingun.

Titan is lv 21 now, trying to figure out how best to get it to 24 so I can get some queens gear on it as well. Might just have to force in as many strikes as I can run in the next few days to get myself up to par on that character.

God the PvP has been a lagfest for me lately. And if it's not lagging, it's just supers, shotguns, and fusion rifles everywhere. I don't know why I can't stop playing something that just pisses me off.

All three weeks I've maxed my vanguard marks in the first one-two days and never maxed my crucible marks.

I need the patch for the strikes rewards(legendary) updates so I can do the bad juju bounty with some semblance of feeling that it's not entirely a grind.

Some really good tips. I'll add 2 to the list:

13. Weapons with slow reloads benefits from interrupted animations. Learn the exact time when the ammo pops up during the animation and cancel it with a quick sprint button press. That way you will be ready to fire much faster and can take the enemy with surprise if you are both in a reload situation.

14. Learn how to use the slide move. It will increase survivability since most people aim in chest hight. If you slide at the right time you can avoid a deadly one-kill-shot and then deliver your own. Slide is also good to use if you want to close a small gap between you and a running enemy or get fast behind cover.

Well since I've officially have nothing to do on my lv 28 warlock until next week or when I get more Acendent shards, I think I should create a Hunter or lv up my Titan.

Probably Hunter. I do have a legendary Hunter glove to give. XD

Friday to sunday.

Friday and Saturday, he's not there Sunday past the usual daily reset time, people keep missing him expecting him to be ther for 72 hours, not 48.

I did in WoW. Game needs a find herbs/minerals skill.

I think one of the exotic weapons has a chest or item radar location perk. Chest and spinmetal runs while waiting for Devil Walker are enjoyable, as are spirit on Venus in that DW area and the moon loop is great. Mars hasn't clicked for me and Iron is the one I'm always going out of my way to gather.

Exotic bounty number 5 or 6, I can't even keep track of these anymore. My only choice is that awful Pulse Rifle. I guess it will get some use if it's buffed significantly. I don't remember there being any other exotic bounty choices left...

Anybody know a good place to farm Relic Iron?

Make loops between The Hollows and Freehold. You'll need to learn the spawns for nodes and chests in both areas but they're both packed and have fast respawns. Relic Iron seems to be the fastest overall material to be able to accumulate because those two zones are so close to each other and have such high density.

I spent all day grinding out shards to be prepared for the raid tonight.

I get a raid chest piece to replace my maxxed out exotic chest piece. Which means I then have to figure out what kind of exotic gauntlets/head to use. Unfortunately only my gauntlets are geared towards a defender class titan which is what I use primarily. But because exotic helmets give more defense than exotic gauntlets do relative to legendary gear, it's not in my best interest to actually use them...

Either way, I now have to GRIND FOR MORE SHARDS AFTER SPENDING ALL FUCKING DAY GRINDING SHARDS.

Fuck.

I'm okay with shards being rare but at least let us get some of the shards we invested in our gear back by deconstructing it or something. This shit is madness.

Probably Hunter. I do have a legendary Hunter glove to give. XD

I wish I would have leveled a Titan instead of my Hunter. I just do not like the Hunter, maybe if I pvp'd more...but it just isn't fun in PvE. GG is fun and all but it really should have more than three shots.

It's all good, Warlocks are the best class in the game.

Yep. Really should be able to get a minimum of 6 shards back from a fully upgraded piece.

How's The Last Word? Just got it from Nightfall. Not a big hand cannon user so I don't know much about them. Might use it with my Hunter when I get that to level 20.

Where in the tower can I find him, and what do I need to buy exotics and legendaries from him?

Also where is everyone getting exotic bounties from?

Xur is at a random location each week, you need strange coins for specific items and motes of light for the exotic engram.

You have a chance to get an exotic weapon bounty whenever you hand in a bounty.

It's incredible. Has unique animations and you'll have a ton of people jealous that you have it, including me.
