Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor PC Performance Thread

My old ass 980x and dual Titans are giving me about 100fps with 8x MSAA through the nVidia control panel and the Ultra texture pack. I'm using AFR2 mode for SLI; haven't tried the Far Cry 3 bits yet.

The game is very well optimized. I installed the hd pack last night, and managed to stay at 60fps at 1080p on everything max and ultra. Using a R290x with the 14.9 drivers installed

May I ask you to please share the AA compatibility flag you are using? I wouldn't mind some MSAA myself. Thanks! :-)

Got a i5 3.33 / GTX680 / 8gb RAM

Got the hd textures on, everything settings on its highest, locked it on 30fps and its runs smooth as butter.

Is this the best way to run/play this game with my setup? Or can I do better?

I think it is probably the best way, but many have suggested trying the windowed borderless mode which allows higher framerates and v-sync. I havent tried it myself.

My steam achievements for this game aren't working. Anyone else have this issue? I noticed that Fraps caused the steam overlay to not work. I disabled Fraps to get the overlay working, started a new file, but that first achievement (You will obey) didn't pop when it should have.

Ah, only played for an hour this morning. Just did some testing when I got home from work, and apparently, forcing AA through nVidia control panel doesn't actually work. You can supersample pretty easily through the resolution options, though, if you want.

Anyone else using a DS4 with this? This is the first time I've had an issue but I also just moved to a new PC. Everything seems to work fine but every so often the controller will just lock up. It seems to happen when I'm pressing multiple buttons at the same time but it's not consistent.

Not working as in don't unlock at all or you just don't get the notification?

I don't get any pop-ups in borderless mode, but they all unlock like they should.

They're not unlocking at all. They don't show up on my profile (0 of 51 unlocked). Steam is registering my game time (7.5 hours), so I know its not a connection issue. I'm at a loss. My steam name is Eyothrie if you want to see for yourself. Very strange!

Even with border less windowed with vsync on, I get screen tearing in one spot towards the top of my screen across the display. Any tips?

Do you per chance, have multiple monitors configured to display (e.g. mirrored desktop or extended), I often get tearing when I do.

I JUST set up my system for dual monitors for the first time the other day. I'll see if only using my 1080 monitor fixes it. Thanks!

Finally got my ROG Swift in and with the 970 I'm getting around 55-60+ with everything on Ultra except textures (high). Buttery smooth as fuck, love that Gsync!

So, i7-4790K and GTX 780 3GB here. What can I can expect to run this game at? Ultra textures not reasonable to expect?
I really wouldn't worry if you're running at 1080p, my system is lower spec'd and running a more taxing resolution.

2500k 4.4GHz , 760 2GB, 8GB DDR3, and running at 21:9 2560x1080. High textures, and a mix of high and ultra settings for the rest and it stays solid in the mid 40s.

i5-2500k 3.30ghz OCed to 4.30ghz
Radeon 7950
8GB of Ram

Game is running flawlessly at 60FPS. During heavy combat, it drops a bit to about 45~50.

What settings are you using? I'm considering picking this up but I'm afraid it won't run well on my machine. I have similar specs to you and I'm wondering what I'll be able to run it at.

I get too much hitching with ultra textures on my 780. 3 gb is just shaving it a bit thin I think. I dropped textures and shadows to high to maintain 60 fps. I'm playing at 1920x1200.

Yep, can confirm runs 60 fps with ultra textures but have to leave it at 1080p... higher rez and its going to to drop in the 40 or lower.

Holy shit, why is my framerate so much better in borderless versus fullscreen?

Same settings, the difference in the benchmark is 45 to 58?

i5-750@2.67ghz
gtx770
8gb ram

generally getting 60fps@1080 at low settings. FPS dips quite a bit when it just comes back from a cutscene etc (loading perhaps?). I wasn't able to keep a consistent 60fps at medium settings.

The only time I am ever getting drops below 60 is in huge stronghold fights. The game is asking for very good hardware if you want to max it out, but it looks good and is at least decently optimized. It's stupid fun and feels like an Assassin's Creed with gameplay. :p

Unsure if placebo effect or not but I disabled the STEAM Overlay and played for 2 hours without a driver crash.

That's longer than I've ever gotten in one stretch before a crash before.

Also, the lethal Shadow Strike is the greatest thing in the history of the world.

Sorry, I should of mentioned! I play on max settings with high textures instead of ultra.

How the hell is it possible that a 1.4 Teraflop graphics card is outperforming the PS4? PC metal optimizations at work? :D

Seriously though, can anyone explain this?

PS4 is maybe using some Ultra settings and isn't it locked at 30? Is there a framerate analysis yet? (I'd definitely take 30 over this variable framerate crap)

Borderless windowed saved me from a screen tearing hell I never want to visit again. So much better now, that was my only problem with the game performance wise and now it's fixed.

The game uses DX11 so AA compatibility flags unfortunately won't work with this game. Unless your graphics card has headroom to use higher resolutions for downsampling and still maintain 60 fps (the combat in this game absolutely needs 60 fps IMO) then your only choice for anti-aliasing is to either force FXAA in the driver game profile or use an FXAA/SMAA injector such as SweetFX, though you'll have to use the 64-bit variant as the game is 64-bit only I believe.

i7 3770 4.1GHz
16GB ram
6GB Titan

All settings maxed, ultra textures, 1920x1080

Benchmark in Fullscreen:
Average: 64
Max: 148
Min: 36

Borderless:
58
341
39

Go figure...

Similiar specs here, 7950 with a i3570 CPU at stock clocks and 8GB RAM. I have everything on max settings (Textures High, Res at 100%). I am getting 60FPS with drops to 45-50 when lots of stuff is happening. I tried locked 30 FPS, but I really hate the feel.

I noticed the missing overlay and achievements after a few hours of play as well. Disabling the Fraps and MSI Afterburner overlays got the achievements working on my side, except the missing ones from the beginning. But 4 hours+ in I was not in the mood to restart just to get an achievement.

I've asked this before, but I'll try ask it again.

Has someone that played with 4GB of VRAM and ultra textures experience hitching because of that? On 1080P.
Or otherwise, would someone with 4GB of VRAM and a non 9 series Nvidia GPU (because of the delta color compression that saves on VRAM) measure frametimes? I get the impression that 4GB seems enough for everybody, but I think it is weird they still recommend 6GB.
