The area where the cave towards the archon strike is, is pretty good. Bunch of caves with possible spawning chests and lots of flower spawns as well. Ran around there for about 30-40 minutes and got around 70.

You can hit level 27 by upgrading four legendary armor pieces up until the last column, without any ascendant shard usage. That will give you 4 x 22 = 88 light.

Getting to level 28 and above requires you to upgrade with shards. Ideally you'd find a piece of exotic armor, and upgrade that to 30 light, and then upgrade one more piece of legendary armor enough to get you to 28.

Getting to 30 requires you to replace your three legendary armor pieces with raid legendary armor pieces, so in the long run, any shards you put into non-legendary raid pieces would be wasted.

But how hard the raid can be in level 27 if you don't want to waste any ascendant shard?

I was thinking about this when I saw that people were creating 3 of the same class so they could run the raid 3 (or 6) times a week to optimally gear up a class. I'm not saying you did this, but this way of gearing up just seems counter-productive in the long run. Playing other classes and gearing them up separately is fun and a big part of the game for me. Once you get to 30, there's no where else to go, and won't be for a while.
 
The 8 Ass energies I got from Nightfall last night were a blessing in disguise.

Got the SUROS to 291 damage. Tonight it shall be fully upgraded.
 
I've been gone for two days and already a new OT and clan have been made.... Damn this place moves fast. Well I joined the new clan as well but it said I can't 'set as PlayStation clan' as there were too many people

110 hours or something. I would say like 30 hours of that me being idle in orbit.

I've had a lot of luck with rng in this game. Got all raid gear in 1 1/2 raids.

No problem I tried to yell people the same that were mad at the rng. Just doing the daily everyday will get you full purps before the expansion at worst so there was no rush no loot cave grind etc
 
Okay can somebody confirm this: I heard you need raid gear to get past light level 28 to 29/30. Is this true? I've only gotten one piece of raid gear, but I've been farming crucible marks and FWC ranks to buy the purple gear that has the stats I want (Intellect/disc/Handcannon buffs) and now that I'm 28 I'm learning that this gear is worthless if I want to get higher?
 
So I did Nightfall twice for some of my friends yesterday and was carrying around the Bad Juju Bounty. Turns out Nightfall counts as 3 strikes :D Does anyone know if the Weekly counts for more then one? Also what's the shortest strike I could do to get my 25 before Xur bails on Saturday? Are the strike playlists a good idea or should I just run a short one over and over?

You can get to lv 29 with regular gear but you need raid gear to get to 30.

I feel like I remember someone saying the weekly ones count as two.

Yes, only with raid gear you can reach 30 Light. Normal reach 27.

A lot of your enjoyment hinges on whether you got buddies to play with, or if you like Hunter style loot grind games. Yes to either (or both^^) will be your largest factor.

I ran the moon strike. It is pretty easy to just rush through to get your strikes done.

Very doable at 27. I've had regrets about going to 28, but it has helped a lot. Now I am definitely going to 29 until I get all raid gear. No more wasting shards.

FINALLY, Bungie needs to give us back at least half the shards we put into legendary equipment when we dismantle. That will promote people changing up armor and just in general be more fun. Right now, upgrading a gun or armor is like the holy grail, I believe it should be a little more lax for the sake of variety.

I've just been doing the lv24 strike playlist.

Yup, Epitaph is arc which is a big reason as to why I chose it. I was severely lacking in arc weapons during the Nightfall earlier this week.

I also chose it because the German dude in our group was yelling at me that I had to get it. If there's one thing I've learned from my hardcore German mother, when a German is telling you to do something, you do it.

I'm around 75 hours in and still not tried the raid yet. Only a level 27 but have an alt up to level 25 as well.

I've had almost no luck with RNG. Not a single exotic bounty and only 1 exotic weapon so far.

I'm feel like I'm nearing then end as my interest is starting to wain somewhat. Shadow Of Mordor for me as well tomorrow so may take a small break from Destiny.

Yeah, I didn't expect to care at all about leveling alts in this game... I mean it really had no appeal to me at first. But now I'm really enjoying it in little bursts. This game is quite generous when it comes to alt progression: even though my Warlock is level 5, he's almost 26 "on paper"; that is, when he hits 20 he'll immediately have an exotic and legendary armor piece waiting for him to equip. And a SUROS Regime for that matter. Looking forward to creating a badass Titan too.

But I'm also not rushing to 30, personally. It'll come when it comes.

Weekly counts as 2 strikes. This is going in the tips and tricks, thanks!

Moon strike and Nexus are the two shortest. Nexus can be blasted through the most quickly IMO.

I'm another one that will soon be looking to get into the raid and is usually on late. Although I'm very fortunate that I work from home so I often get midday sessions in as well.

XB1 GT: Mouroutaru
lvl 27 Titan (Striker maxed, Defender 75%)
lvl 21 Hunter (Bladedancer 75%)
lvl 24 Warlock (Voidewalker 75%)

PSN: Mouroutaru
lvl 20 Titan (Striker 50%, Defender 50%)
Just getting started on Hunter and Warlock, but they'll get there.

I've mainly been playing alone trying to get my alts up to 20 (My XB1 alts are only above as my titan received legendary and rare light armor for the other classes as I was leveling). Now that I can be a bit more helpful to others then I'll be looking to do Nightfall and raids (and crucible, help me!) with others. I have a fair amount on my friends list, but it is still hard to find people (typically already in a group).

I agree , the vault is the best thing this game has to offer but you have good through hours upon hours of boring as shit in order to get to it.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll do a mix of Moon and strike playlist (even rushing through moon for no loot can get boring i think). And glad to know weeklies count for 2, I have to get the same 2 friends their coins tonight haha.

I haven't had any issues with the netcode at all :-X There are some quirks to its priority (postmortem melee kills) but this is consistent and predictable- it doesn't affect my play, it's just a little funny and video-gamey. I know others have had more severe issues but I've only seen a guy rubberbanding around once and occasionally people becoming bullet sponges while in the process of disconnecting. For the most part it seems rock solid as far as anything Peer-to-Peer goes.
