PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

The PSN was experiencing difficulties today, so it's either remnants from that or the consequences of a ton of people getting online at the same time now that it's more stable.

On a side note, have you unchecked "Use Wifi in Power Save Mode"? It might help some if not.

Actually I ended up fixing it by switching over to Google's DNS addresses. Crazy how something that simple COMPLETELY solved the problem (went from 112 minutes to 8).

Seems like PSN is still having problem. Luckily I don't game online much.

How is Little King's Story? I heard several praising for this game, but I don't know what I will get into if I buy it.

We need to go to Takaki directly. This man is gold.

He even posted that FF XV thing going on.

I like this man.

As someone who has no interest in Vita or its latest Japanese imports, I have to agree. A bit of a chore to skim through when you're just curious about PS4 offerings.

How about asking instead? Or better yet, browse NeoGaf's main gaming page? Do people want everything presented to them without even bother to ask, or you guys just want everyone to only talk about thing you have interest in?

If people want other to talk about PS3/PS4, start the subject by yourself first.

I do not understand how PS store OSTs operate, someone help me out here. I want to recommend the futuridium EP Deluxe OST and best I can tell it's only on the PS Store (if there's an alternative I usually recommend it instead). Do you HAVE to have a PS3/Vita? DRM Free? Can both be copied to PC or only Vita?

OK RAREST TROPHY YOU HAVE GO

I just skimmed mine, but I think these are the rarest.

Everybody buy shadow of mordor.

I keep on hearing nothing but great things about this one. Sadly I just can't seem to stop playing Destiny, and I still have P4AUs story to beat. Then there's Senran Kagura in 2 weeks, and Freedom Wars in 3... Goddamnit while people complain that the Vita "has no games" here I am complaining about not having time for other games because of it lol. That and school + work. Hopefully with the reading week coming I will be able to get some of my log cleared up a bit.

I had this problem, but it was much more minor than the problem seems to be for you. I only had one tiny corner in the top right start to unpeel, but it never really actually came off. Anyways, I like the grips, but I haven't used them for a while, I guess my recommendation is to do what I did and really only use it occasionally if ever. Every once or twice for a hardcore session probably won't cause too many problems, but I can't judge for sure.

If you are really careful with how you put the grips on, it may be possible to prevent it from being a problem at all, but IDK. What kind of grips?

The original Trigger Grips

PS+Vita+Trigger+Grip+3.jpg

I play a lot of BL2, so I use them all the time. When I put the Grip, at first is a tiny corner like you, but then it start to unpeel more and more.

OK RAREST TROPHY YOU HAVE GO

Apparently just actually being good at Road Not Taken and Hittogata Happa earned me all 5 of my top rarest.
5 thousand owners?! Fuck, everyone buy Gundemonium Collection on PS3. 3 great bullet hell shmups with excellent difficulty modes. If you can get to level 2 in Gradius 3 I guarantee you can play these on easy modo at LEAST. Maybe not Hitogatta happa but it's also the best so try.

Bought NepReb.

Good, good. Get the Histoire DLC, she's awesome. Actually all 3 character DLCs are easily worth it at $1. Plutia's almost broken.

I have those too. My only problem with them now is how the actual triggers get stuck due to being made of plastic. I feel like putting a bit of oil or something would fix it, but I'm too paranoid that it'll get on my Vita.

Ok what is this frozen synapses SOMEONE EXPLAIN

Consider it a tactical sim. You control a team of soldiers. You control their exact movement -- each turn represents a few seconds of time, and you can set a bunch of waypoints for them to travel during that time. At every waypoint, you can also alter facing. So you can make them zig zag if you wanted, or circle around a corner.

You can 'test run' all your moves before you commit to them, and once you have everything set up like you want, you hit go and everybody (including enemies) move simultaneously.

Each unit is equipped with a weapon, as are enemies. So you need to approach terrain intelligently and tactically --- breaching a door, for example, or turning a corner, or whatever.

Fantastic game, highly recommended.

AUGH setting a theme erases your lockscreen/backgrounds even if you revert to "default". Was not impressed with the free themes. Now I have to use the awkward picture manager again. Can I make a "wallpaper" folder? There's a menu item for "folders" but I see no way to create them

Got the two themes for the Vita update and have to say, they are really nice :D. Love the music for each of the themes (and the fact they are free is really cool as well :)).

Also got the Flickr app on my Vita and was going to post how my screens look but...have no idea how to do that X(. At least I know Vita screen shots will look nice now if I want to see them on my laptop :).

Can't wait for the PS+ games for next week tough :D. Pix the Cat looks to be the unholy hyribrid of Pac Man and Chu Chu Rocket....and that is simply amazing XD! Love the studios work with the Rayman Run games on iOS, so I'm sure this will be quite the fun time :). Rainbow Moon seems to be interesting, so it should be nice to check out :l. Own Batman and Splunky already but its cool that people who might have never played them to give them a try; both are amazing games :D. Dust seems cool but can't play that (don't own a PS4 yet) and the D&D brawler should be fun :).

Lastly, I joined a gaming club on my college campus this week :D. I know this is off topic but we watched the Zelda Sequelitis and was talking about what makes games fun and interesting things about game design. Some person used Borderlands 2 and Thomas is Alone as a good example of story telling mixed with gameplay while I used Majora's Mask as a way to 'fix' the issues Egorapter thought OoT had :). I know this is random, but it really felt like what I do on Neogaf; talk to people who love video games and it is awesome I can do that with other people at college now. Maybe now I will finally make some friends there XD!

Never getting any NepReb DLC. The ultimate DLC is not present, I refuse.

I'm curious what's your "ultimate DLC", but I think
Plutia is the best
. Remember to grab all the starter pack DLC, it helps a bit. Avoid that Fairy Fencer F one, though.

Still recommend you to get all characters DLC, since for that price it's pretty a good deal for what we get.
It will easy your pain in early game
.

Sometimes people just want to read about what they're interested in, not ask questions about it. When I have questions, I ask.

Not a slight against the platform or anything, but I don't own a Vita and have no desire to read about it.

I tried joining a gaming club at University once...had to pay $5 and then they never contacted me.
I played my Vita on campus all of the time, so, their loss!

Nisa will always be my Nep fave.

You have a thing for blue hair characters, eh?

Sometimes people just want to read about what they're interested in, not ask questions about it. When I have questions, I ask.

Should take your complain to the mods. The more people complain the better, so that they will acknowledge the need for separated platform threads. There are just too many Vita games that obviously it will overwhelm this thread when each person talk about the game they are playing.

But like I said, if no one starts talking about the PS3/PS4, do you expect the discussion will appear by themselves? This thread, since the day it was created, isn't a Vita thread, but for some reasons no one bother talking about other platforms aside from Vita. Isn't it because you guys have no intend to start anything by yourself?

I tried joining a gaming club at University once...had to pay $5 and then they never contacted me.
I played my Vita on campus all of the time, so, their loss!

That sucks man :(; they should of at least given you the five dollars back if they didn't want you to join....

But your right :D, having a Vita with you always makes the situation better :). Bring my Vita with me to campus some of the time during the weeks (though considering I walk back home, I try to leave it home most of the time :l).

Fez I found to be a wonderful game to play at college :D; its calm, tranquil nature along with its openness in collecting the cubes made time really go buy one day early this year :).

I don't have it her, but my most rare trophy will be Starlight Inception's gold trophy (0,0%) :D

Just waiting for the new patch!

New patch? Are they actually going to make Starlight Inception not shit?
I was excited for it but in retrospect I should have known better from the beta. :/

The only plat that I have (sorry I just don't care about trophies at all):

EDIT: damn can't believe I beat the game 2 years ago almost. Time sure does fly...

Hello everyone! I've been here for a very long time, but this is my first post!

I think I'm a little OCD about gaming...I've got most of the systems (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and of course PS Vita, and a gaming PC) and a huge backlog of games. My only problem is never having enough time to play (or even open!) a lot of my games, and the stack just keeps growing. I just love gaming in general, consoles, PC, you name it.

Well, the Vita is my main reason for posting here though. VitaGaf is awesome and has been a wonderful source of information. I have two Vita's (black and white, but the white is kind of a "collector's item" for me so I don't really game on it). I love my Vita's, and even though I'm not thrilled about the lack of AAA games coming in the future from Sony, I am kind of excited that we are seeing so many great Japanese games come to the US. I have a tremendous backlog of Vita games to work through as it is...right now, still playing Persona 4 and Akiba's Trip (which is a lot of fun to me, by the way...kind of awesome to rip clothes off of people, haha!)

Mainly, I just wanted to introduce myself, and say "thanks" to all of you for being the best source of gaming news on the planet. You guys are awesome, and I hope to get to know you better and perhaps play online with some of you someday!!

That plat percentage is lower than I thought considering how easy it is to get. A whopping 36.3% of people have GE2's plat.

My rarest trophy is the "infidelity is bad, papa" trophy from SAO at 1.7% lol

Hello and welcome. It's always good to have more activity in these threads.

Feel free to add me on PSN if you'd like: deathgodgrimmjow

And I just reached the point in Sly Cooper Vita where I stopped playing in the original PS2 version...

The Murray race in the second level. I know it's not Mario Kart, but fuck sake, I have never played a racing game that was this hard to control. I cannot even break the top 3. Any tips that SC players hanging out here can give me would be soooo appreciated.

Hello everyone! I've been here for a very long time, but this is my first post!
Welcome to VitaGAF! There's lots of good stuff going on for the Vita, both already released and coming down the pike. Gonna be a fun ride. Feel free to add me at pariah164 on Vita.

The gangs all here in Spelunky (1.8% on psn). Love that game. Only rarer trophy is the one for speedlunky
I've got "Seen it All" and that is showing at 1.3%. "Speedlunky" is the only one I just can't seem to get. I can't wait to play on PS4, Spelunky is truly one of the best games ever made.

How to check trophies by rarity? I can't seem to find the option on the Vita.

You have to be on firmware v3.30 and then open the trophies app and use the PSN tab (not PS Vita System) to check your trophies. % is listed inside each trophy description, and on each of the tiles as you scroll through them.

You have to look manually.

Hello everyone! I've been here for a very long time, but this is my first post!

Welcome to PSNGAF.

OK RAREST TROPHY YOU HAVE GO

These I guess:

Getting Wizard trophy on any of the Pinball Arcade tables was a miracle for me. More luck than skill.

Stealth Inc I was just cracked out, and completely obliterated the game. Here's a vid of me holding the #1 time (and if not, top 8) on every single level's leaderboard when the game came out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpFRqdx1m_k

So disappointed that the sequel is WiiU exclusive
for now

I busted my ass in create mode and in the LBP community making real deal levels, no H4H spam crap... wasn't chasing the trophy, it just happened, and I have nostalgia for it.

I don't really chase trophies, but sometimes I get hooked on a game and they add to it.

Imouto, I have checked out that thread...it made my brain explode! ;)

Just noticed the PSNGAF is extremely Vita biased

That's because most of PS4GAF is busy in other threads discussing 1080/60

Everybody buy shadow of mordor.

Everyone seems to love this, but I have so many hours of games to beat, and then Freedom Wars and Akiba's Trip later this month. Am I a bad person for skipping this one for now?

and hide it behind email tags
I would really appreciate it!

Now go and buy all 3 other characters DLC!

A small tip, save up money and buy Life Ring for your main party. You will need it.

Wow, glad I decided they were nice but unnecessary. Personally, I'd suggest simply going without. Screen protection is more important than grips for me given the option. Since I know it's the same grips, I can tell you my "nuclear option". Shave off any offending nubs that push down the screen, it'll significantly reduce the safety of the grip, but it's the only thing I can think of if this really does inevitably end up as a big problem (which it sounds like it does). My biggest reason for taking them off is actually that the parts of the triggers that press on the Vita's natural triggers can scratch those natural triggers, and even though I put on some small patches of cushion on each as soon as I got the grips, I think I started to notice scratches and it was off my Vita quick as that.

I like their ergonomics, but it actually ended up being too heavy for me. I don't have weak hands, but after a few multi-hour binges on Danganronpa, I was like "maaaybe trigger grips for a visual novel are overkill" :p. They helped some in Rogue Legacy, but I became too self conscious every time I'd press the triggers, worrying that it was scratching my precious.

Basically, they were cool, and I'll use them again I'm sure for something (after some more extensive modification for cushioning), but all the above problems coupled with the fact that it is really not compatible with my travel case pushed me over the edge to keep them off.

My final suggestion may be to tape the screen protector down with some shipping tape. The small weak stuff won't cut it, it's not about the binding strength, but the actual material strength. So yeah, if you must use it, add some cushion to the triggers (possibly on the Vita itself, not anything permanent of course), and tape over the offending edges. The problem is because it is peeling it off at the edge right? Well, if you "seal" the edge of the protector by essentially extending the surface area of over the edge of the Vita itself, I don't think the trigger grips' nubs will be able to push it up, since it won't snag on anything.

All I'd do is make sure the tape goes onto the top outer rim of the Vita, if not, it will not really change anything. Two little strips where the nubs push the protector should be enough. Hey, at least this isn't as bad as the 3DS literally cutting itself when closed. As I said, I use them a lot because Borderlands 2, and eventually I will have KZ, and I get too tired without them.

But I just did what you suggest. I tapped both corners with a little piece of shipping tape and it stopped! I can notiice small bubbles there, but they stay there, and that is enough for me.

Thank you very much!

Someone recommend me a game to play so that I can get over my Diablo 3 addiction. I think it might be time to start FFX-2.

Anyone know what's coming out for Vita in 2015? I'm talking Japanese releases.

Top of my head would be Senran Kagura Estival Versus, Way of the samurai, Luminous Arc, God Eater 2 Rage Burst, The Scissor Project. I remember there are more titles announced in TGS, but currently only those came to mind.

And that Digimon game everyone wants.
