It will take a long time if it's everyone's first time through. It gets a lot faster though the more you do it.

Our group's clears went like this:

1st time - 7 hours
2nd time - 3ish hours
3rd time - 53 minutes

There's a learning curve at first. Don't let it get you down. Once you get a couple better pieces of raid gear your level will go up as well and make it easier.

team jesUs :P yeah I know only had one 28. I still think the rewards aren't good enough...

One thing I really wish they'd change is the loss of ammo after death. Doing hard mode and wiping constantly blows for having ammo. It doesn't matter if you have ammo packs, the cooldown is really too long.

If you're level 28 with out any raid gear would it even be worth it to use any ascendant shards right now to get to 29 or should i just save them for when i do get some raid pieces?

They need to make it so you're guaranteed at least one piece of raid gear. I've done it 3 times and gotten 0 :( Sucks I've been the same level since the week after the game released.

I'm personally staying at 28 till I get raid gear. That way I won't waste any Ass Shards.

or

C) Bungie says "too bad" to MM players that complain. They're telling MM players that want MM "too bad". Why not just do it and ignore the other whiners?

And then those people get as loud as possible about hating the game and claiming it's not balanced at all, etc... Basically what we're already seeing in regards to the story/amount of content but also applied to the Raid.

29 will help if you want to go ahead and try raid on hard mode. If you have no interest in that no reason to upgrade.

Gah. After having over 1400 hunter upgrade materials, I forgot they were even needed. Now on my Titan I'm clamouring for darn Plasteel Plating -.-

My exotics and raid legendary weapons so far (except for Fusion rifle lol).

Need Ice Breaker, Hard Light and Thunderlord - and I will be happy.

The issues with just letting people "fucking try" is that a lot of people who can not beat hard content immediately call for nerfs. We've already seen it in the amount of people who call Destiny's strike bosses "bullet sponges," which they are not by any means.
uh? No.

people won't "call nerfs", and even if they do I'm not sure why bungie is going to listen to them. ?? Are they nerfering the stuff that should be nerfed? No, so why would they nerf something that shouldn't even be nerfed.

strike bosses ARE bullet sponges. they have 2 moves and they use only that, in every fight there is no strategy. you're just hiding, shooting, hiding again, shooting minions that come out and then repeat until the boss is dead.
awful mechanichs, 0 variety and inventive, lazy development. might be fun the first time but since you're supposed to do the same strikes 20 times each if you want better gear, marks, rep etc. then yeah, it's not fun at all.

Man.... I friggin love this exotic Titan helm Xur is selling but it looks so crappy with my chatterwhite shader x.x

Maybe it'll look better with the other chatterwhite I got from the raid lol

MM in the raid would be nice if someone wanted to try it. to see how it is, to see what to do etc. of course you can check guides online, but still.

on the other hand the lack of MM in stuff like campaign, weekly and the queen's missions (and probably more) is fucking stupid and inexcusable.

Cleared normal raid on Tuesday. Nothing but shards and energy. Cleared everything on hard mode except final boss so far. Nothing but shards and energy.

Yeah you can definitely get screwed by RNGesus. Just buy your favorite exotic armor piece from Xur when you can, and farm those crucible/vanguard marks to get your faction's rank 2 armor and you should be able to hit 28 pretty easily which makes most of the raid a breeze on normal mode. And be careful as to what ascendant material upgrades you are doing because you may regret using them on non-raid level armor pieces. I upgraded my exotic first, and then tried to avoid any upgrades on non-raid legendary gear that required any ascendant materials. You'll want them banked up for your raid armor pieces.

Anyone played AoE: Rise of Rome? Cabal names are so similar. Phalanx, Centurion, Imperial Centurion etc. Some of them even have a roman helmet. Just a random observation.

Level 25 Titan Defender here, never done the raid before, if there is a Fireteam in need that wouldn't mind carrying me a bit let me know!

I got the Skullfort today on my Titan alt. He's relatively new - level 12. Seems the Skullfort favors Strikers and I mostly PVP with this dude or farm, so I guess my plan to Defender him is derailed at least temporarily.

Aesthetically, I want to get him some Dead Orbit gear, but I'm thinking a Super/Grenade build makes more sense than a Grenade/Melee one.

What do you guys think? I had a clear plan for Defender stuff, but I'm not sure which faction to pick for this guy. Leaning FWC for Super/Grenade.

Let's quit pretending like raiding takes so much effort you couldn't do it with matchmaking. Considering I was just randomly invited to a group last night and decided to accept just cuz, and ended up clearing the raid on hard mode without any issues, I don't think matchmaking is somehow any kind of detriment, especially if implemented properly. Matchmaking saves people time, and makes the raid more available to those who don't have much of it. That's it.

Anyone up for Weekly Heroic Strike at level 22? I know that only nets 3 strange coins, but I'm exactly 3 away from getting the Sunbreakers from Xur which would get my Warlock up to 24 so I can start working the Queen missions a bit easier to work my way up to 26 to raid with you fine folks. Thanks in advance - I know this request is a bit of a charity case

Remember the Destiny video with Jason Jones? It shows a guy run up to a Devil Walker's face and shoot it point blank as if it is a viable option. It's not. Your only option is to stay back far enough and shoot it. When he looks at you, hide. Repeat until dead.

If it had the requirement of having a mic then I'd agree with you to some extent.

Yes, I can. But I can't find time that aligns with other people. And I hate the idea of manual matchmaking with strangers. Just let me join up in March making. Find ways to punish quitters/griefers.

Like how? How would Bungie know the difference between a quitter and someone who just had to leave? Unless you want to report every person who does, which would probably be a lot, nobody's getting punished.

Are you insinuating the complaints about the amount of content and story are misplaced?

uuh, so what? I didn't write that running under the boss face is the way to kill it, quite the opposite.

If you quit too early too often, you are punished. Only first person that quits gets it counted against them. Quitting too often could put a timer locking you out of MM raids for a while. Quitting even more could lock you out for the week. Constantly quitting every week could ban you from MM raids.
