They are always using p2p. I was hoping Destiny would be dedicated servers, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Then again I've never seen a migration host screen....so maybe it's just bad net code.

Level 28 lock here. I haven't touched the raid yet. It seems like every time we have tried to get our group together something comes up for someone. It does look like a lot of fun and the idea of raiding in a FPS sounds interesting. I raided in WoW for years (vanilla through part of Cata) so this part of Destiny has my attention. Are any of the groups here kind to raid newbies?

Iron Banner is gonna be such a cluster fuck. I expect to alternate from feeling bad for other players to feeling bad for myself.
You can definitely do nightfall with a Lvl 20 Blue weapon as long as it matches the elemental damage modifier for the week. I went through my first with a blue fusion rifle and sniper rifle without a lot of problems. Just bring ammo synths.Still no Legendary weapon at level 27.

It's something like a 30% damage buff for the entire party. it's incredible.
I'm pretty hyped to try this tomorrow. Our party checkpoint is saved at the gatekeepers.
They CAN see you... but they'll never attack. You can even "tank" mobs by holding their attention on you in stealth while your teammates do whatever. It's amazing.
It's only of the silliest and most videogamey implementations of a cloaking skill I've ever seen, but it is sooooo much fun.
Horrid, just god-awful, plan. Nightfalls have incredible rewards, buff your XP and rep gains for the week, and if you pay attention to the week's Burn modifier you can be effective even with basic rare weapons. Save up your marks and buy your first legendary primary making it exactly the one you want, and run Nightfalls instead. You might GET a legendary primary or exotic from it.
The raid is also way more about communication and execution than raw DPS output, though legendary/exotic loadouts do count for more here than in the nightfall.
invite me if you need a spot. i'm a pro portal defender now. i'm also good at killing the Supplicants while people are shooting the boss during Time Vengeance. played it so much with a couple of groups. too bad people keep dying on me. there's always get one weak link and that guy always ruins it. sick of it.

This too. Since when we come out of the portals we always like to jump in that middle platform and shoot at Atheon while the relic guy shields us it's an amazing thing. Before we come out a defender titan pops his bubble like right outside the portal. We run through to get the damage buff and hop into the middle. Atheon goes down in like 4 portals on hard. Man I can't wait to do this shit again on Tuesday. I wanna see how fast we can complete hard mode.

Around what level should I try the weekly nightfall? I need to do it with a fusion rifle for that fusion rifle exotic bounty! I finally started getting some luck with lengendaries and even getting the exact exotic helm I wanted using motes of light, so I am feeling more confident, but I am still only light level 26 (in the process of leveling up my legendaries).
I can probably hit level 27 relatively quickly, but I don't know if that's going to be high enough - should I make my way up to 28 before even trying? Because that will be hard without legendary mats

Ars and shotguns can kill before a fusion rifle can go off. Scout rifles need a buff or ars/shotgun/fusion nerf. Your problem is not using one of the 3 (or high end hand cannon) guns listed above. Anything else isnt viable.
I only had a shotgun for a void special weapon and I found rumble to be the less effective farm thanks to my limited range. I wound up getting most of my points playing control because it tended to funnel players to the control points leaving me with more strategies to get in close on em.

I'm considering teaching my daughter the basics of FPS games with destiny. How to move around and aim and shoot and stuff. Then i'll turn on the crucible before i leave for work and come home to engrams like a scratch it lottery festival.
Solid plan for leveling, imo.
He is talking about the Vex Mythoclast. If one or two guys on one team have it the other team might as well leave the game. They are gonna get the dick. We played a 3v3 Skirmish yesterday with all three of us in one team having it. Score was 5110-0.

Nah.. a good pair of headphones and some situational awareness and a Fusion Rifle can clean up. You NEED to get a handle on the hip fire aim tho cause 2 shots with a fusion rifle can feel like 2 lifetimes in a firefight against other players.
Or you know ... Pocket the bitches and pull Ws out of thin air.

edit: Normal of course. I've yet to do it but have watched the entire thing done both by first timers learning and experienced groups that took less than an hour. I know the phases and am completely open to be told where to go and what to do.

Thwy are pretty evenly matched, so I'd say it comes down to what mods the have. I've had shingens with increased stability to the point there was no recoil. I think I've seen galahads that do more damage in the bottom half of the magazine though.
