dual shocks have gyros
They do, but they're no directly attached to a screen so it's not quite the same.

Amazon just updated the release date to November 30th: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KVMHSUM/?tag=neogaf0e-20
I did not know this. Pre-order cancelled. I wanted it for 20% remote play, 80% movie streaming. The 1080i killed any interest I had. Darn
Is this thing really coming out in a few weeks?
This item will be released on October 14, 2014.

The performance of remote play for me has put me off. I hadn't used it much, but I've been using it to cheese my D3 characters to 70 and I'm getting pretty regular "lag" (the icon appears in the top right corner) and there's no way I'll be happy with that.
I'll have to device come launch whether the ability to play Vita games on the TV is enough for me, or if it'll just make more sense to pick up a second PS4.
That icon means you have a bad connection. That's what's causing the lag.The performance of remote play for me has put me off. My PS4 is wired, obviously the Vita is wireless. What is your network setup? Are both machines wired or are you using wifi in any of those?
Im talking remote play 10 feet from the PS4. Not fussed about internet remote play for this, but I'm 80 down/20 up anyway. That icon means you have a bad connection. That's what's causing the lag.
This is the head scratching thing about the PS TV. How can you release a media streaming device in 2014 that doesn't support 1080p?
Sounds like you need to invest in a better wireless router perhaps. Mine works pretty well and my nerves only 25 down and 5 up.My PS4 is wired, obviously the Vita is wireless.

I have a good Netgear router at the moment, which doesn't hiccup anywhere else. I will be in a position to rule that out shortly though.Sounds like you need to invest in a better wireless router perhaps. Mine works pretty well and my nerves only 25 down and 5 up.
Go into Power Save Settings on the Vita and untick "Use Wi-fi in Power Save Mode".
Thanks, I'll give these a whirl when I'm home later.Do you have 'Connect Directly with Playstation Vita System' turned on on the PS4? It's under Remote Play Settings on the PS4.
If it is on try it with it turned off. I find I get much better performance with my PS4 wired, and the Vita connection going via my router. Otherwise you need to be pretty close to the PS4.

I'm late to the discussion and you may have already tried this, but try manually changing your wireless channel if you're connecting through your router. My PS4 is wired, obviously the Vita is wireless.

It's unfortunate, but I don't think there's much of an option here. The reason this thing exists seems to be a buy product of a decision to include video out in the original Vita Hardware, which was only capable of outputting at 1080i.The 1080i killed any interest I had. Darn
Ok that's good. Thanks.
Would it be dumb just to get this as a PS Classics machine or is the PS4 eventually gonna get PS1 emulation?
According to Amazon UK: "This item will be released on November 14, 2014."For the US only or both US or EU? I'm hoping the latter as there's no reason to delay it for EU.

It doesn't matter if you're 1 foot from the PS4, what matters is the location of your wifi router. The ps4 sends the signal to the router and that is sent to the vita.

Also, Is there built in memory on this thing? Or do I need to buy a vita memory card to even save PS1 games on it.

Digital Foundry did a piece on remote play and found the vita and remote play itself adds 100-160+ms, which on top of whatever rendering lag is inherent to the PS4/game. So in Killzone for example, remote play produced an unplayable 240ms of total lag. Based on my experience with Destiny, I suspect it's even worse than that. Assuming the PS TV uses the same technology/hardware as a Vita, I wouldn't touch one of these for remote play. It's really awful if you have any sense or knowledge of input lag.

All within about 10 square feet of each other, though as I say the PS4 is wired. This week I should hopefully be able to try a new router to see if that helps. It doesn't matter if you're 1 foot from the PS4, what matters is the location of your wifi router. Edit - in the circumstance described

I would love 1080p at least for the menus but I can live without that... How good is the PS1/PSP library on the Vita? My PSP stopped reading discs recently and I could see myself dipping on some ps1 games like Sled Storm (but it might be too obscure). Any chance the PS4 will get the ability to run PS1/PSP games in the future?
