Assassin's Creed "Parity": Unity is 900p/30fps on both PS4 & Xbox One

To avoid the debates and stuff, Ubisoft attempted to blend in with the monks, but unfortunately their "high profile" button was stuck.
 
People are accepting the gap. How could they not foresee that doing this would only cause MORE debate?

Also, while it seems strange to say the Xbone GPU isn't a problem and then only support 900p, the reason is the ESRAM.

I'm sure the 6:1 hardware ratio had something to do with that. This generation we have the most powerful system selling the most, too. There's no excuse.
 
OG Xbox and 360 had superior multiplatform games compared to their Sony competitors but now that PS4 is the more powerful console we get this parity bullshit?
 
Sale lost from me. I didn't buy a PS4 for parity. I bought it because it's the most powerful console and I want to play the best console version.

like i said before it has nothing to do with pixels. Many people simply don't want to support IGNORANCE.
Not sure why people can't understand that, it's not like asscreed must be played. Their are plenty of options this holiday.
 
I previously had reason to suspect this game will be a technical mess upon release. They may be lucky to hit 900p.

This one is coming in hot, probably needs a delay.

I think there's a difference between this case and something like Destiny or Diablo. For one thing, we know for a fact that MS intervened in those cases. But also they brought the Xbone version of those games up to 'parity' (except not really) with the PS4 version, which the developers didn't have time/money to do on their own.

Here it's different, because MS are (presumably) legislating that the two versions are identical by lowering the standard of the PS4 version to the Xbone version, which is different.
 
But people told me it was an insane conspiracy theory for a company to intentionally gimp their own product so it looks the same over all platforms after the Watch_Dogs debacle.

There are plenty of games to play. When company X says they are intentionally worsening their product for a stupid reason like this, I think it is sensible to demonstrate you do not like this change and avoid buying it. I can't stand 720p-900p nowadays.
 
I just legitimately cancelled my E3 pre-order from this year because of this. (was thinking about it earlier)

Makes the other two games more expensive but I'm actually thinking I can wait on those too.

Good job, Ubisoft.

Just as a follow up to this post, just got my cancellation email from Bestbuy:

This was a discounted preorder as well (about $20 cheaper than MSRP) so there's absolutely no chance that I'm buying this at full price new, just going to wait for it to show up used if I really want to play it.

Yeah! Remember when some games only had 5/8ths the pixels? That worked just fine for our society, thank you very much

Appeal to tradition is not a particularly compelling argument

If it's like this, then maybe this is just them not being able to optimize the engine itself. Is this a new engine they are using for this AC? I wouldn't be surprised if the game gets delayed within the next week, because from the sounds of that quote, the games preformance is all bad. I think we should wait and see before jumping to conclusions of what is going on. I really hope it isn't something as dirty as Microsoft paying for parity because that would be pretty shady. I feel like all of this has to do with the development issues you brought up, and Microsoft probably did what they did with Destiny and had engineers work on it while the PS4 version isn't super optimized since they are having troubles with the engine in the first place.

B3D pixel counters said it's 900p, and using very aggressive motion blur effect. Just like UFC.
 
This is purely for Microsofts benefit right? I'm struggling to think how this benefits gamers with either console.

XB1 gamers get the same game they would've got. And they likely don't care too much about resolution, otherwise they'd have picked another console if it was important to them.

And PS4 gamers just get a borked version
 
When this really blows up, the mass market consumers will stop buying Ubisoft products. They have really dug their own grave with this parity BULLSHIT.

Yeah I've been pretty disappointed with the way Ubisoft handled Assassin's Creed so this is no surprise to me. Between the nightmare that was AC3 and the terrible content in the season passes I'm pretty much done with the franchise. Unity has to be absolutely amazing to convince me otherwise, and even then it will be a a bargain bin purchase at best. I was a day 1 customer up until AC4 but I am finally throwing in the towel.

I'll buy this when its on sale for 40 dollars around Christmas and the 1080p patch is out.
 
This is one "current gen" fad I cannot get behind. Why punish one user base for buying a console with higher specs?? I'm not saying PS4 is better at everything but it's SCIENCE that it is a more powerful machine...
