"Guys, we didn't downgrade. We just didn't bother upgrading any further after hitting our in house target."
A lot of studios do that, regardless of generation. Hit performance targets and move on.

I didn't read the article but man that looks like a penis.

Just putting this here.
Who cares about how the game looks, yes the PS4 version will be running at 900p and at 30fps to match that of the Xbox One. Why are people getting so angry, this is the equivalent of 2 brothers/sisters fighting over who gets the better toy. And the Mother (game developers) giving 2 equal toys to the children, and one of them (the one who wanted the better toy) throwing it out of the pram.
I'm getting this game still, and many others will as well.
I can see it's working like a charm."We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff,"
lol. #PS4NoParity is blowing up on twitter.
Seriously, what is up with the conspiracy theories in this thread?
If they were both 1080p this wouldn't be a shitstorm.

The game is totally gorgeous, it's baffling how upset people get with every new thread with 900p/30fps in the title.

they should make it a little blurry.

Yeah, it's sneaky language. "We did not lower the specs" still doesn't mean they didn't intentionally limit them. I actually sent them a follow-up before posting that in hopes of getting some clarity on whether they're claiming that the PS4 version wasn't capable of more than 900p/30fps in the first place, but I'm not expecting much more.

Hiphop Gamer and "shots fired" don't go together very well.Ah damn shots fired from Hip Hop Gamer
The worst part of this is we all know the PC port will be a complete train wreck. There's just no way to escape Ubisoft bullshit.
Errr.....you do realize that low-mid range PCs are the majority, right? And the vast majority of the sales of these games are from consoles. If the console versions didn't exist PC will "hold back" PC.
There certainly was a debate over Destiny.
So, is Ubisoft saying that Bruno St-André was lying?
Indeed they do. But that begs the question why 900p (an uncommon resolution on PS4) was the target to begin with.
I expect more gaming journalists will be mocking this, the same way they mocked resolutiongate. Amazing how much this industry shits on the most diehard of fans.Good, at least someone contacted Ubisoft for a statement, instead of mocking their readers or do nothing about it.
Thanks Jason.

Again, the CPU-bound comment was only meant to explain why they didn't target 60fps on either console. (To overly simplify it, their AI couldn't run at 60fps on the consoles, or at least so they claim.)

These things happen too often to be mere conspiracy theories.
Polygon and Microsoft for example. When an exchange of money / services takes place, there is likely subsequent, self-imposed pressure to deliver for the client.
Ubisoft's upcoming stealth-action game Assassin's Creed Unity is targeting 1080p/60fps for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, level designer Bruno St-André revealed in an interview with GamingBolt conducted at E3
It wouldn't be possible, in our minds wed be cheating fans by providing a lesser version of the same game.

It's not about how the games looks but how Ubisoft's practices sucks.

I couldn't care less about those people, some act like their word is law or something. I barely read reviews anymore, the occasional meltdown threads are pretty fun though.I expect more gaming journalists will be mocking this, the same way they mocked resolutiongate. Sony needs to take a page from Microsoft's playbook and start pressuring publishers to take full advantage of the Ps4's hardware. I think it is lame to ever put such pressure on any developer, but Sony should not bring a knife to a gun fight. They made a better machine and they shouldn't allow Microsoft to try and rob them of that advantage through bullshittery like this.

When millions of dollars are involved, shady shit like this always comes up.
I'm not a big tech spec guy myself - in fact I never really noticed any problems with 720p - but once I joined this site, I started looking for the differences between 720p and 1080p and pretty soon it became all I could see. Some ps4 owners don't care about it and probably understand the ps4 hardware much better than I do - but stubborn or not, 1080p is just something I expect now.
