Assassin's Creed "Parity": Unity is 900p/30fps on both PS4 & Xbox One

Nope. That would irk some developers who possibly couldn't get their games to that level on the system without major compromises and ruin the relationship some have with Sony.
I'm sure Sony can have exceptions for developers who can prove that a lower resolution is absolutely necessary and not as a result of some parity clause.

Not surprised that MS is paying for shit like this to happen.

Instead of adding value to their console, they bribe publishers to gimp the competitor's console. Typical MS.

Guess all the MS fanboys has something to cheer about I guess.

It was confirmed?!?!

LOL!

I don't normally agree with you, but for once I will.

I buy the Assassins Creed games day 1, with the collectors edition because I collect those statues.

Unity is the first assassins creed game I have looked at and said "this looks broken, I am not sure".

Look at the B roll they gave the press. The game is chugging, the AI doesn't look good at all. The parkour is the only noticeable improvement. The game is unstable at best, and every piece of media is filled with screen tearing and pop in.

Could be worse. Could be 1080p and you will see more clearly all that crap you listed above. At least at 900p it is blurrier and harder to point out to the average gamer.

Haha just read about this, If we see AC Unity marketed as an xbox game only or if they don't change the resolution after such a shitstorm, then it'll be safe to asume MS made a shady parity agreement.

I'd laugh about this as I'll get it on PC but who am I kidding, the port will be worse than the consoles.

Ubisoft + PC = disaster

Because not all gamers care about frame rate and resolution.

I use IGN for my news mostly. Almost none of those editors give a fuck about FPS unless its absolutely broken like Borderlands 2 vita.

Their readers also do not care. Their top comments are mostly, "who the fuck cares, this is only flamebait" whenever IGN posts a framerate/resolution article.

Neogaf is the first place I have ever seen it being a big deal.

If the framerate is not broken like Skyrim PS3, I don't care if it is 60 or 30.

Resolution doesn't matter to me either. I am a university student. I didn't buy a monitor for "crisp lush visuals". I bought a monitor so I can see my god damn video games. I didn't buy a PS4 for 60FPS only gaming or 1080p standard resolution. I bought one because thats where all the games are going to be.

I'm pretty sure people do care about power. If that's not the case, then PS4 wouldn't be outselling Xbone even after the price cut, and kinect removed.

So because IGN editors (who are often total shills btw) don't care, I shouldn't either? Also as for their comments, right now they have deleted multiple top comments slamming Ubisoft for forced parity on the article they posted about this.

Why is everyone so self-righteous about their ps4 edition of this game?
When you watch a movie in DVD or Bluray which one do you pay more for? The blu-ray one because it includes better sound and better picture quality sometimes a behind-the-scenes bonus but you pay roughly 50% more.

Game developers do not get anything back because they push their game to 1080p or 60fps there is no return on investment here. They still only get 60$ just like on the XO version and there is nothing justifying the extra cost just because a little group of people rants about 600k extra freaking pixels.
If the technology and investment is already there then of course you can push forward like for example InfamouS.
A company like ubisoft which created a new engine version because if next-gen then it is going to take time and investment to reach higher grounds.

1080p or 60fps is just extra gravy if the initial budget only covers the technology necessary to reach the minimum reference quality - in this case Xbox one

Of course there can always be some external "tampering" - which ms in this case is accused for but in my opinion that is a lot less likely.

Unity probably already costs A lot of freaking money and I am pretty sure they are running out of money for anymore changes. For them to invest extra resources for a freaking res-bump is not a priority.

This PR is howecer extremely and so freaking poorly planned and written that it would hace been beat if it wasnt released.

Oh boy, you give us juniors a bad rep round these parts

The PS4 was $100 cheaper then the X1. That is the reason people have chose the console. Power means nothing, as we saw with the Wii.

This is off topic though.
No no no no... it actually had nothing to do with the ps4 being cheaper. It could have cost the same or even a little more. It was the XBox Ones craptastic debut , TVTVTVTVTV, and no used games that made the ps4 the console of choice this gen.

Ah good. Good job Polygon, not only shitting on the (unfortunate) readers, but also derogative slang rooted in homophobia. What a bag of bastards.
I read that it was rooted in spanking, but whatever its history its one of the the most obnoxious terms the internet has graced us with.

Is the MS money thing a fact? I honestly want to know.

It is not fact, just a lot of assumptions and forum members stating that it is fact or that it is MS causing this, but no proof confirming such a thing. It is easy to blame MS, so that is why many are just going with that.

When the DF article comes out about the performance of each version, then it will be clear that something was up if they are equal. I have a feeling that won't be the case and that while both will be 900p/30fps, I believe the PS4 version will have better shadows, better textures, better lighting and less jaggies.

Using a derogatory insult rooted in bags of children without fathers.

Tsk tsk
How political incorrect of you.

What res monitor did you buy? A 15 inch 720p monitor I assume

Man I don't know.

I went to futureshop, asked them for a monitor I can take with me,if it has an HDMI port and if it was HDCP compatible.

Don't know its resolution output. Its 22 inches though.

Bought it so I can play video games when I have free time.

Where are all of these MS fanboys cheering the news of the PS4 version of Assassins Creed Unity being 900p/30fps?

Are you just making it up? Because I really do doubt that people are actually fucking cheering about this. Maybe some are laughing at the sheer stupidity and immaturity that always rears it's ugly head when threads like this open. It appears you have the two confused.

If both versions were announced as 900p/30fps, I could care less. I downgraded to a 720p television and will be stuck with it for some time, nor do I think 900p vs 1080p worth throwing my arms up over. Didn't have the issue with the interpolated(?) technique for Killzone Shadowfall's multiplayer to reach 1080p either when I did have a 1080p television.

However, the statements given (misinterpretation my ass, UBI PR) are worrisome. There may have been some minor debate, but nothing of particular note that should have been so worrisome to necessitate a parity solution. That and the damage control statement sound like empty explanations to an issue that shouldn't have needed one as it stood alone.

I also don't see how parity will sell one port over the other. People will buy for what system they own or their friend's own, and Ubi couldn't give a shit about their games driving system sales outside of riskier launch investments such as ZombiU. If Xbox One copies don't sell as high as PS4 or vice versa, I don't see why that would matter to them.

Likely, if parity was put in, it was a part of the marketing agreements contracted between UBI and Microsoft. Doubt any additional money was thrown in, just a clause that likely isn't really an issue to either party.

It's going to be a very long generation for many. I just don't see an outcome where any publisher shows clear favouritism this gen, in terms of graphics.
