Looks like Driveclub PS+ Edition might not be coming today

Half full, half empty, whatever.

I need to see the tracks and feel the cars to know for myself.

With no + edition "demo" I am not paying $50 for this. I'll just keep playing destiny.

Lies, truth, it's all the same. go play Destiny, your drunk.

I wish Sony could give a sentence or two on why Driveclub PS+ isn't on the store or whether the people will get it. By not addressing the issue, people will jump to conclusions.

Ah, here come the "entitlement" claims.

We are paying for this shit. I want what I paid for.

I don't deny plus is a great value. But, not releasing what's advertised is fucked. Hope its just a matter of the store still updating.

I really don't care about the game, but people are paying for the service and were promised the game today. Stop with this entitlement shit.

Bingo.

I pay money for a service that provides games. This is one of those games. Therefore, I'm not getting what I pay for.

Still looking forward to mucking about with DC when the PS+ drops, but the idea of outrage re: a delay of something one wasn't paying for anyway by a day or so is kinda crazy. Disappointment? Sure. Anger? lol wat

I think it's more the fact that they haven't even mentioned it. No clarification of anything. That's what's getting people upset.

I've just started for the past two hours, but it's fantastic. Phenomenal mechanics (seriously, they've got it down perfect for a simcade game), astonishing visuals, great amount of content from what I can see and it's all sublimely fun to participate in.

And the AI is actually aggressive and fly as shit. I don't ever feel like I'm losing for my own fault, which is pivotal for my enjoyment.

It's classic straight-to-the-point racing with the extra heft of next-generational power and advantages, and I'm in love.

Sure, but if they are smart, they aren't gong to post anything that says "hi, we were able to get the full game up on time, which by the way is 60 bucks, but the free version to all you psn plus people we love so much, well we just haven't quite gotten up the smaller edition/version up yet!"

They aren't going to do that. Just know that if you want something free, it's going to be a little later, you're (whoever wants this on psn plus and is disgruntled) not making them money so, while I agree it's shady, can you really blame them.

It doesnt get super-shady until they put something out about it being a week or month delay or some shit.

But there is no precedent for that whatsoever. PS+ games always go up the same time as everything else.

PS Plus Discounts
Title Platform Plus Price Regular Price
DRIVECLUB PS4 $49.99 $59.99
I have PS+ and I'm seeing it for $59 and there's no 'PS+ Discount' signage like there usually is.

What's the story?

Seriously though, this is the first PS+ thing I've actually given a crap about and having to get jerked around about it is really damn annoying. Come on, Sony.

Link me the announcement that it would be today, and I'll shut up about it.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/10/01/preview-octobers-free-game-lineup/
For the past two months, PlayStation Plus members have received a couple games free the day they hit the PlayStation Store, and this time we’re besting ourselves by offering three! Yep, this month Dust: An Elysian Tail (PS4), Spelunky (PS4) and Pix the Cat (PS Vita) will debut on the Store as well as in PlayStation Plus. On top of that, there’s a special bonus this month – members get DriveClub PlayStation Plus Edition (if you want to upgrade to the regular retail version you can for $49.99), which gives them access to 11 tracks, 10 cars and all the game modes. Finally, members will receive the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum as well as Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara and Rainbow Moon.

PS4 owners can check out the Metroidvania-inspired Dust: An Elysian Tail, as well as the hit platformer Spelunky — which also entitles you to the PS3 and PS Vita versions. On PS3, our members can see where the Arkham franchise started with Batman: Arkham Asylum, as well as enjoy a bundle of classic arcade Dungeons & Dragons games with Chronicles of Mystara. For your PS Vita, we’ve got a new addictive arcade game for you in the same vein as Snake and Pac-Man called Pix the Cat and a beautiful, epic strategy RPG Rainbow Moon.

All of these games will be free for Plus members starting October 7th.

I think it's more the fact that they haven't even mentioned it. No clarification of anything. That's what's getting people upset.

And as customers of a service, that's a reasonable position to take. It's the projection of this anger onto the quality of DC as a game that's making me roll my eyes.

lmao of course they didn't release it on day 1 like they said they would. The longer the wait, the more people will buy the full game. I'm guessing a decent chunk of the people that get the plus edition will NOT buy the full game. I know I won't be.

My $50 12 month Plus subscription disagrees.

Guys the Driveclub servers are down and being hammered. They're probably just holding off unleashing all the free users until they can stabilize it.

And to beat it in further: Sunday's The Drop specifically saying it would be released this Tuesday.

So, yeah, we were told we'd get something and so far we haven't.
They need to say that instead of essentially sweeping it under the rug.
Exactly. If there's technical hang ups then fine, whatever, tell us and many of us will be understanding (the rest will actually be acting more like entitled brats.) This complete radio silence is NOT good though, even just a vague "we'll have more details later" would help.

Hey I just bought a year sub yesterday.

I'm with you but.

I mean really. These are suits with jobs to keep and bottom-lines to meet. Is it REALLY that surprising that the paid edition is up, but the free one isn't? Shady or not, fair or not, is it really that surprising? I'm very Sony loyal btw.

But this isn't a free handout. We pay money for a service that provides games, including this one.

I paid for my 11 tracks in India and have zero access to them at the moment.

I listened for two months. I don't care about reviews from anyone. Gaming has moved past it.

Bitter? Truthful.

Really? If films and music reviews are still relevant I don't see how games are any different. It depends how you use reviews, whether you feel the need for these critics to agree with your own personal opinion (and if they don't take it personally), or if you read a range of reviews to help with purchasing decisions and accept that people have varying opinions on just about everything.

On topic, I hope I can play the plus version on Friday in the UK. Been craving a good racer.

I'm pretty sure this is one of those things Sony regrets saying it will be free for PS+. They probably did in order to make the reveal of the PS4 more promising but as you can see they clearly want to hold back from this but also know we would rip them apart.

I've seen a lot of people say this - haven't seen the quick look yet. What about it caused everyone to be skeptical?

I played the game for a couple of hours last night and had a blast.

Basically, while the social stuff is interesting gives you a pretty fun reason to keep playing it, the actual racing is in this really strange middle ground between arcade style and simulation, wobbling between each extreme but never committing to one, making a lot of the challenges seem really strange as there's no way to really hone your vehicle to improve your skills with things like drifting or top speed. So you have this sort of really super grippy racing game that doesn't bother punishing you for driving poorly and doesn't really reward you for driving well and often gives you challenges that are counterproductive to your current task at hand.

It's an interesting take and it pulled me all the way out of a day 1 purchase. But I will try the PS+ demo when it goes up on Thursday.

Because we're looking at Thursday now.

And Giant Bomb is probably the best place to get a first impression, positive or negative.
