Looks like Driveclub PS+ Edition might not be coming today

so .... what is the ETA on the PS+ version?

Driveclub aside, where are the other PS+ games for this month? It's the 8th now. I just logged into PSN store and nothing new at all is up yet. Still just Velocity which I got last month.

I assume you're in EU. PS+ games are never up this early.

they'd have had way less backlash if they'd announced the PS+ version to be a week later in the first place. Would have reduced server load and potentially tempted some people to buy the upgrade version rather than waiting

The saddest thing is that many users of Gaf have better ideas then the people at Sony that are paid for those things.

What a joke. I wanted to see what the game is like for myself after the "mixed" reception, but at this rate, i don't see myself even downloading it, whenever it's available that is.

yup, the eurostore usually updates around 13:00 GMT, so about 3 hours to go or so. And always try the Search on the website first, they upload the games to the site and create the PS+ page later.

I think that there's been a bit of an over-reaction to this situation.

The game hasn't dropped on time. It will drop soon. They have explained why and said they are working on it.

I can't understand the massive outcry. We are getting the game, just a little late. We all have plenty of games we can play while we wait.

This is a service we're paying for, so expectations raise with it. I'm glad we atleast got some response but it was ridiculous it took such a long time after being ignored all day on their site/twitter.

This is about 2 weeks after PSN shit the bed when they had a free MP weekend and it was impossible for nearly everyone to send friend requests, which lasted the entire weekend and similarly was ignored and not mentioned whatsoever. They need to handle these things better.

I find it hilarious that this stuff still happens. I understand why companies don't want to overspend on infrastructure only to have them miscalculate and it go unused. But at this point it is ridiculous that we still deal with this because it is a solvable problem.

I hope this doesn't delay the UK version on plus. Why can't they just release it and let people play offline? This whole thing is such a mess. It's delayed for a year and then they hold back the plus version.

Over reaction much?
What will it hurt you to download probably the best free game they offered so far?

Free game ? It's a demo. I just wanted to test it, i'm not gonna check every day to see if they bothered to put it up.

I totally understand, and I agree with you 100%, but I still think that the reaction has been a bit too over the top from a lot of people in the DC threads... I mean, there are people saying that they will refuse to dload it now when it does appear on PS+.

I am sure that SONY are a victim of their own success. They never imagined in their forecasts that so many people would by a PS4 so quickly and their server upgrade roadmap has been compromised as a result. This also applies to the issues over the last 2 weeks.

We will all get the game as promised, just a little later than planned. I am not downplaying it, but I think that a bit of perspective and mature attitude to the situation would benefit a lot of the angry posters.

SONY will be on this. There will be a lot of people in the company trying to get their entire situation sorted as quickly as possible.

This is going to look really bad to the average consumer.

If you don't follow news online much, you will just see a free version of your game appear after you paid money for it.

i m guessing they not putting up PS+ version because its an online only thing... well according to GiantBomb QL they have the tour mode seprate... and i think that is what ppl can play offline...

I partly agree. Some people are acting like lunatics, but Sony could reduce this kind of backlash by communicating things in a timely manner. When people pay for a service, you tell them if something included with that service won't be delivered on time. Sony's awful customer service and communications combines with the usual confusion of oddly timed store updates to compound what should be minor issues. It's baffling that they have the same problems year after year.

There is another track select mode that can also be played offline.

Wow it's been like a day and some of you guys are going nuclear, technical issues can happen to anyone. Waiting a few extra days doesn't hurt you.

I think the bigger issue is we are forced to pay for our online MP and increasingly that experience is getting worse and worse. From a backward store, to games not allocated enough server bandwidth to handle their own launches, to PSN just slowing to a crawl.

We're paying for this shit. Fix it. Now.

So if this is a server issue as they say..is it just incompetence? With many PS4 owners knowing that a "free" demo version was supposed to go up today surely there couldn't be so many that dove right in to screw up the servers.

Most companies under spend on tech and infrastructure on purpose. They don't bother fixing it because they know consumers will deal with it anyway. They can manage to piss off a vocal minority of people on the internet that amount to less than 5% of the people who probably care about Drive Club anyway, in this case at least. All businesses run like this. It will never change

Also there's this talk about a potential increase in subscription fees (at least in EU), despite the PSN service becoming worse in recent months.

So yeah, it's understandable that people are frustrated in the light of such news.

Not to mention messages/friend requests/invites taking ages to load for the last week or so. It's inexcusable for a paid service really.

Not that I endorse nuclear options, but most people complaining in this thread have been waiting for more than a few days. The unclear communication of this version of the game's release is sloppy.

I agree that there's no need to lose your mind over issues that crop up, but I also think it's important as they do need this bad feedback to improve. If everyone kept quiet and rolled over nothing would ever change.

That said, I don't see any reason why there was just radio silence the 24 hours. Let people know early on what's happening at the very least.

Its been a year, in fact.

This game was first promised as Ps4 launch freebie. Never made launch at all. And now, we're a year down the line and they can't get it right either.

I'm certain this Plus version would've been put online if it received critical acclaim. But its not like the signs weren't there. First gameplay from 2013 was rather awful, then it saw a delay, lots of silence and a change of director. Hardly ever pans out to become something good. Watch FFXV to become a linear road movie RPG with simpleton gameplay.

Well you fucking bastards over at Sony Won this Round, gonna swing by Walmart an pick up a Physical Copy, smh, hopefully i love the game, then all is forgiven :D

This is ridiculous, come on.. tech issues or not, I don't care, this is another disservice.
They can't keep on going with such a poor quality PSN. They need to do something soon.

I'm disappointed.

The PS Plus version of Driveclub is not free; I paid for it with my subscription fee. I will continue to pay for it if I want to keep it. And I don't appreciate being treated as a second class customer by Sony.

I paid for Driveclub PS Plus Edition and withholding it to protect the experience of those who paid for the full version is misguided. Sony advertises PS Plus as a premium service; so why should is it treating its subscribers so poorly in this case?

Such a botched rollout of a $60 game—including restricting access—often lead to make goods for customers. Will we see that in this case? I doubt it.

There's also a larger issue here than Driveclub. PS Plus has a quality problem. Technical limitations are harming the experience, from the horribly mismanaged launch of MLB The Show and Driveclub, to the frequent server issues and slow download speeds.

I'm not overreacting. I'm not boycotting Sony or grabbing my pitchfork. But I also won't ignore that a service I pay for is making many mistakes that impact my enjoyment of its services.
