Looks like Driveclub PS+ Edition might not be coming today

I guess I'd better cancel the auto renewal on my 14 day PS+ trial then. Disappointing but I'll wait until Friday for the full game. Will give me time to finish off the main campaign mode in forza

This should have been released before the store update instead of keeping everyone in the dark all day.

Yep. I'm not a driving game guy, but I was way into the idea of giving a cut down version a chance thanks to PS+.

My new video card comes in two days, and in two days, I won't give a single iota of fuck about Driveclub. Good luck staying relevant when you can't commit to what equates to a demo that has been talked about since day one.

Hey guys, remember the bigger "free" version of Driveclub? I don't either, just all the bullshit chitchat.

Yeah, I "fully appreciate how frustrating this is", too. Off to a wonderful start this game is. I reckon this might not end well. Also, how unpredictable could the players' "social behaviour" possibly have been exactly?
This is a sad day.

Especially since we're always told we should just play the games instead of complain about them in an online forum. So much for that.

Probably because by the time the store updates in the US, Evolution has already gone home for the day because their normal workday/office ended for the day in the UK. I certainly would not make press releases while I'm off the clock at work.

WOW... holding back... because of server issues? really......... i really dont see the server issue being the main point for holding back on it...Since in the post its clearly written that you can even play the game being offline.... so really dont see the point where it is connected with the server issues....
The game is heavily being advertised for its online/networking.

This is becoming embarrassing. Ever since Destiny/Fifa came out I noticed the PSN servers becoming much more unreliable and now they need to release their new big game tiered so the servers don't shit themselves?

I'd completely understand that if we weren't paying monthly fees for this. But we obviously are and they should invest that money in more servers to sustain the increased data load.

At first I was going to disagree then changed immediately because you are right. Give us the PS plus edition and let us race offline while they sort it out. I dont understand

Jesus Christ. This farce keeps getting better and better, doesn't it?

Playing the game offline is a pretty barebones experience though, it could lead to a lot of people not buying the full version upgrade.

I know but when in the FB post you are saying that "till the servers are up enjoy racing offline" Why the hell we PS+ Subs cant enjoy the same....

Hell at least let us download the god damn thing...

Because the game constantly tries to connect automatically. That's what's causing the strain. Releasing the free version would just add to the problem whether you race online or offline.

Exactly this. They don't need a ton of people railing on the DC servers that are just using the free version at this point. Poorly communicated and dumb, but understandable.

Played one mission on Destiny last night - got to the end near the final encounter for that particular mission.

Server disconnection

Up your game!

At least there's the response, and it's comprehensive and appears honest. That's all we needed. Good speculation by Gaffers earlier regarding the servers being the issue, too.

Very embarrassing and frustrating for Evolution, though. Really feels like this game has been snakebit from the start. Almost a year late and then this.

umm who cares about excuses like this? game should be out no ifs ands or buts. people can get a taste of single player while they wait. most people start in single palyer anyways to get the hang of the game.

Sever issues? Where is my $50 a year going too then? Ueda's candy crush addiction?

They actually already mentioned a sizable investment in new servers in the second half of this year in two of the latest investor calls.

So I guess your $50 a year are going into servers.

They really need to invest a bit more on PSN, my experience with it in the last few months has been unacceptable.

they'd have had way less backlash if they'd announced the PS+ version to be a week later in the first place. Would have reduced server load and potentially tempted some people to buy the upgrade version rather than waiting

Someone tell me there's a good single player game there?

The online part is heavily integrated into your single player experience (challenges, club fame etc.), think of it the same way as Destiny.

Here's a protip from the industry - servers don't take a "sizable investment" and a declaration in investor talks. They take money, and about 24h.

The more they talk about servers, the less I believe a word they say. If you truly are addressing a problem, you will spend more time working towards the solution than you do talking about the solution.

Sony is simply talking.

Somewhat hilarious that DC servers buckled from the region where it'd probably sell the worse, and that's without the Plus version being out anywhere aside from Asia PSN.

As someone swithering already about the game, this doesn't leave a great taste in the mouth. I'm happy to wait for the PS+ version before deciding whether or not to commit to a purchase, but the middling reviews and now this delay are not filling me with hope. There are plenty of other games vying for my cash this month and DC may now be losing any momentum it may have had for me.

Sony really do need to put more work into their server infrastructure. It's not good enough for a paid service to constantly require downtime for maintenance, only to be brought to its knees each time a tentpole release arrives.

I wonder if they weren't expecting this much traffic from day one or if someone really dropped the ball on the back-end.
With the PS+ version set to arrive this week they probably expected a lot of traffic, so most likely something is going terribly wrong.

I'm guessing it depends when you play. By the sounds of it, server issues are commonplace on release due to the amounts of people going for that game. That said, this is an expected circumstance, so yeah maybe it should be better especially when other services manage to avoid this

Sony should be more consistent with these things, especially with a game that has been delayed a year. Generates confusion to potential customers and is bad for the game.

First they weren't talking and they were criticised for doing that. Now Rushy has made one post - one - and now they're just talking and not doing? smh.

What a clusterfuck this launch has been.
I mean it's Driveclub, how hard can it be to setup a basic online infrastructure.
Servers should handle the load with ease, it's no Destiny or GTA.

Fuck No! It's not "understandable" that a game that was delayed a year has any server issues of any kind. Maybe if they had released the PS+ version last month as a sort of beta test they wouldn't have these issues.

All I know is that Sony has been touting the free PS+ version of Drive Club from day one in an effort to sell PS+ subs. People bought into it, then had to wait a year for them to get their shit together and now they still don't get it. Let's also not forget the fact that they promised the game would work with all PS3 wheels but apparently only the endorsed Thrustmaster wheels work and those who have Logitech wheels got the shaft.

I always saw myself upgrading from the PS+ version but with all this crap and now the shitty reviews I don't even think I'm gonna waste 15.7GB of bandwidth to download the PS+ version when they see fit to release it.

so .... what is the ETA on the PS+ version?

Driveclub aside, where are the other PS+ games for this month? It's the 8th now. I just logged into PSN store and nothing new at all is up yet. Still just Velocity which I got last month.

The game is out. They just decided to make connecting easier for those who own the full game by delaying the PS+ version for a while. The plus version would probably increase traffic tenfold and the servers are already on their knees. Releasing it just wouldn't be a smart move when you have other options.

there is one more aspect, that people that have already bought the full version, they return it and ask for refund since they are not able to play it.
now think about that.
