Alien Isolation PC Performance thread

Asus G74 here, cheapest Best Buy model from 2011 with i7 3630Q, GTX 560M and it runs great at the default settings (mostly cranked with a few options at medium). I only played the Last Survivor DLC as a quick test but it felt smooth to me (didn't have a frame rate monitor up).

I had to stop playing, i need to get rid of the jaggies >.<
Any way to downsample this on AMD card?

Nope, not until GeDoSato works with DX11 games like this one.

Hopefully Nvidia's downsampling options put some fire underneath AMD's arses.

SLI scaling seems to be seriously bugged in parts. In most places including menus it's scaling almost perfectly, and then other areas with certain light sources it drops down to almost match single gpu fps. Annoying as hell. Utilization is down around 50% point per gpu when it happens and not cpu limited or anything else...

Nice to hear, will try with my gt650m at the weekend. What resolution do you got?

Is Deep Color the equivalent to HDMI Black Levels?
Should we set it as Off if we play in a PC monitor with PC color levels?

That second shot has lots.

I run the same settings and same resolution and it looks about the same.

They aren't too bad imo to be honest.

T2x aa is what I'm using, heard there's a difference between T1x.

They are steam screenshots.

These are from Fraps.

I think people are to picky to be honest, this game looks fantastic and runs really well.

Those are still super compressed images (they are less than 200kB!). Are you uploading them to imigur or something?

Cannot judge still!

I get the feeling from you, that you could go out and buy a $12,00 computer, downsample the downsamples and you would still piss and moan about something.

Imgur is about as much effort as I can put in for you.

Good day sir!

What res are you running at?

This is from my Rig Ultra @ 1440p AMD R9 290

I don't see any jaggies at all and I'm not downsampling.

This image has a lot of grates.

The top picture is from a pre rendered cut scene and the bottom picture is blurry as hell and has jaggies. Game looks awesome in motion but people can't deny that it needs some serious AA. I'm downsampling from 4k to 1440p and also using SMAA 2xT and still get jaggies.

haha em, I was not being hostile at all I was mentioning how you reposted super compressed images even though you probably did not mean to.

Also, I am totally fine with just 1080p....

People are being picky, yes, but that's ok.

And I'd have to agree with those that are a little disappointed that they cant get rid of the aliasing issues. Its a bit bothersome for me, as well. Not that I cant live with it, but just the fact that there's pretty much nothing anybody can do to alleviate the problems is kinda annoying. We can run the game at really high resolutions but its kind of tempered with the fact that it doesn't really do all that much(but is still better than nothing, of course).

The aliasing is specular, and is not done away with unless you super super super super sample, or they change the way their lighting model works (clamp the specular!). IMO, I don't have a big problem with that...

I don't have a *problem* with it, necessarily, like I don't 'take issue' with it or anything.

But it does hurt the visuals a bit. Everything is very clean and sterile looking(environment-wise), making the aliasing stick out a bit more. The game still looks good, but if the aliasing was cleaned up, it would really take it to the next level and actually improve the immersiveness of the experience.

Yeah, I'm getting frame drops at 1620p despite having 3 680s. The cards are running at about 25% usage each, so it just seems like a mediocre SLI profile. Hopefully they update it to perform better.

Heya all,

I threw my dx11 efx 1.9.30 sweetfx bundle onto this game and it works hassle-free.

The problem is the jaggies. I can't stand them.. especially considering this game is very friendly performance-wise . How could they release it like that? :(

Anyhow, looks like Inspector tweaking doesn't work unless we find the correct AA compatibility flag. I'm trying to research bits from games using a similar engine.

Submitting posts in this forum seems buggy. :\

Just looked through this thread, didn't realise it would be easy to max. Running on all high settings right now
3570k
660 TI 2gb
8gb

Going max everything and see how that goes.

Kinda makes sense since it looks like most of the game it's just you.

What engine are they using? I've tried to look this up and can't find much of anything,
I think they are using a in-house/custom game engine, but if you find out what aa
profile that works, do post that info, I don't like the jaggies either.

How? My custom resolutions don't even show up in game :/

Interestingly, my custom resolutions show up fine but the game refuses the 4K downsample. Screen just goes black for 5 seconds, thinks about it and then reverts back to 2560x1440.

Combined with SMAA T2X the jaggies are just about acceptable to me. I found the CA far more distracting but at least could turn that off. I've also settled now on a FOV of 55, less motion sickness without compromising the game's claustrophobic design too much. Set it any higher and you also lose your feet.

Strange, I was getting some dips below 60 in the first room where you have control of Amanda. 3xGTX680 SLI setup, cards working at ~25% usage. Didn't have any dips walking around the ship though. Weird. Playing at 1620p.

EDIT: Disabled vsync to see I'm getting 200 FPS, but if I look in certain directions it dips to ~80. If I move forward a few feet without moving the camera it jumps back up to 200. Seems weird. Maybe an unstable SLI profile.

Try with 0x080912F5 bits. I find overall perfect scaling with those bits but I don't know if can be glitches after that scene.

Downsampling from 4k to 1080p doesn't even get rid of them.
It doesn't in a lot of games. I was running the game at 5120x2880 which does a good enough job in motion. It seemed to run ok but I didn't play for very long.

Here's a screenshot downsampled from 7680x3840 -> 2560x1280

Still a few aliased edges. Mostly gone, but 8K is... kinda overkill and not really possible to play at.

Anyone getting really poor desktop performance when you've alt-tabbed out of the game to do something else. It's like I'm back in the old days with a tiny amount of ram struggling to keep multiple windows open. Could just be my system, it is getting a bit long in the tooth.

Alt-tabbing to desktop throttles my video card to 100 % usage.

Running max settings on an i7 4660k, GTX 770, and 12gigs on the Oculus Rift DK2. Flawless experience.

That said, utterly fucking terrifying, and I can't get very far with the headset on.

Eh, aliasing is still noticeable to me. Better, but still not ideal.

Anyways, how'd you get rid of the little health bar? Shit is driving me nuts.

There is so much compression in this picture you could tell me it was from a youtube video and I would believe you. No one is being picky.
