Nintendo Downloads - October 2014

Definitely Monster Manor, and if you like shooters, Mii Force would be a distant second. Warrior's Way is fun and possibly my favourite of the four but there isn't a ton of gameplay there.

If you have Homepass (or easy general access to Streetpasses), the flower game becomes a collectathon gamer's dream. :O
Warrior's Way never gets any better, though. :P

How is controlling the GB Castlevania Adventure game?
Is A attack or jump?

For that matter, which is the better Tetris game on 3DS, the 3DS or GB one?
Or should I wait for Tetris Ultimate?

My apologies if this has already been asked and answered.

Is Pier Solar HD coming to the Wii U soon? I know it's out already on Sony consoles, but I would prefer to get it on the Wii U instead of PS3.

Not sure where else to ask this but i have $10 on my account and ive been looking at the mii plaza games.

If you could only choose 2 mii plaza games, what 2 would you choose?
Save up and try to get the four pack (4 for the price of 3) would be my advice. As you can only get that before you've bought anything. It is really stupid how badly they hid that too (I can't remember if you only see it if you buy right away or only if you go through the description).

The problem with Warriors Way/Streetpass Battle is the game bucks the trend of more Miis is better. It is worse here as enemy countries are scaled relative to your strength so having a large army makes it harder to make it larger (if you need that slight extra amount of troops to ensure victory). Then there is the ridiculous plaza ticket requirements. Well one ticket in particular; Battle 300 Monarchs, took me over a year to do. If you need to rely on play coins you need to pump a lot into this. There also isn't a lot to do, invade, do maths, hope you've figured out AI so you can win and repeat (until you unlock spying then you can check if you've figured out AI).

The Gardening game is surprising (did you expect there to be a quest guild?), the Shooter is really solid and straightforward though a few of the stages for the all gems ticket will infuriate (kill 2 large enemies simultaneously ones) getting the finish arcade mode ticket is really satisfying, the Mansion/Manor is good until late game where you really powerful weapons and are essentially going through the motions, getting the puzzle rooms ticket requires you to have people you regularly pass more than once.

If I had to pick two I'd go with the Shooter and can't decide between Garden or Mansion.

The best I could find was a nebulous Fall 2014 date on the Nintendo site. :/
Hopefully soon!

A jump
B attack

But be warned that the game isn't very good.

Art of balance in US today ;)

Came out in UK the other week, it's a lovely game, would recommend picking it up:

Hmm how is the ReBirth ver. that was on the Wii?

Very good, it's pretty much an entirely new game that takes almost nothing from the original.

CV Adventure is definitely one of the lesser games in the series--not the absolute worst, but pretty close. Mind you, even the worst CV games are better than some of the terrible games in other long-running series... there's no CV equivalent to Mega Man X7, for example.

Game & Watch Gallery 3 today, let's do it.

Or are there no more unannounced Virtual Console games? Since they started putting futures in the PRs?

Watermelon said it was in lot check and they were hoping for October

What's considered the worst Castlevania?

What's considered the worst Castlevania?
Among the original style games, I think it would be between Castlevania Adventure and Castlevania 2 on NES. And since Circle of the Moon is apparently coming to Wii U, I'll add that it's arguably the worst of the series on GBA, with its competition being Harmony of Dissonance. It's an enjoyable game, but it's no Aria of Sorrow. And I should have read your other posts. I guess you didn't need Castlevania advice.

I second Starwolf_UK's advice, try to save $5 more and get all four for the price of three. They are all worth it. If you definitely want to go with only two, then my vote goes for Mii Force and Flower Town, even though Monster Manor is also very good. Warrior's Way is my least favorite but it's OK and I can definitely see how other people might like it a lot. Flower Town is great if you enjoy collecting stuff and it's very meaty. Mii Force is a really good shooter with lots of variery and also a very pretty one at that. Monster Manor is another great one, with a good amount of content.

Exactly! I'm working my way through getting the flower colors I'm missing, but slowly, slowly! Warrior's Way doesn't feel like they put a lot of thought into it, specially the ticket requirements.

Guess I'll post these here - (unless a new thread is better?)
Some Bayonetta gameplay showing off Princess Peach and Samus. Going to capture the Link and Daisy stuff tonight along with some Bayonetta 2 gameplay.
Bayonetta - Princess Peach Gameplay (Direct-Feed Wii U)
Bayonetta - Samus Gameplay (Direct-Feed Wii U)
Thanks for posting these! Will try to watch them when I have some time.

But be warned that the game isn't very good.
I'm gonna have to disagree. Despite its obvious limitations, Castlevania The Adventure is still a very enjoyable game, mainly because of its excellent level design and music. It could control a bit better, but once you realize how the game is supposed to be controlled and aren't reckless, everything flows much better. And again, the level design and music are just fantastic.

Hmm how is the ReBirth ver. that was on the Wii?
It's very good but the only thing it actually shares with the GameBoy game is part of the title.

What's considered the worst Castlevania?
I'd go with the third GameBoy game, Castlevania Legends. It feels very uninspired and dull.

What's considered the worst Castlevania?

Hmm... well, none of the Game Boy games are particularly well-liked, but the first and third games are especially mediocre. Haunted Castle for arcades is pretty crappy, and unfairly tough to boot. Vampire Killer for MSX has a lot of technical issues that make it unfun to play, and Castlevania 2 is mostly about dealing with inscrutable nonsense rather than whippin' stuff, so it's not a lot of fun, either.

What about Castlevania Judgment?

I completely forgot that was even a thing. Throw that in there too, yeah.

There are also some bad pre-iOS cellphones games that aren't worth mentioning, but I'm gonna do it anyway because the playable character in one of them looks like this:
desmond-full.gif

He looks like he belongs in a Final Fantasy chibi-style game or Bravely Default.

Also this reminds me I need to continue reading that Castlevania book by Hardcore Gaming 101.

Kind of hope with all these games being added this month, we'll get a sale on the NES games & Super Castlevania IV.

It's funny though, saying it's the worst of the gba Casylevanias when the others are two pretty damned good games. To me it's like saying well this Lexus is the worst luxury car compared to the Bentley and McClaren. Still getting a Lexus baby!

Fortunately it looks like we are getting the other two as well. So we will soon be spoiled for choice regarding Castlevania. I just got SoTN on PSN, and I have been sold on the Rebirth game now as well. I still to finish my replay of 3 and 4. I may even submit myself for some punishment and play the PS2 games which I thought were okay.

I feel like that latest 3d Vanias lost their way especially Lord of Shadow 2 seemed to suffer from pretentious developer disease

Super Castlevania IV is one of my favorite games ever. When it came out back in the nineties, it's graphics and music were so damn impressive!

Not sure where else to ask, anyone had a good experience with Wii Fit U? I had a balance board already so I got the Fit meter to claim the free* full version of the game, haven't used it much though. I only played it a bit, best I can tell only a few games let you play with gamepad + balance board only? Balance board + TV is a bit of an annoyance, as are wiimotes.

I just saw that Europe is getting Bayo 2 demo on the eshop today, are we getting it in NA too? We better be
Oh god, please let us get the demo as well.

Edit: Bah, 15 tries for the EU version. Wouldn't be surprised if the same applies to the US version.

Hmm, seems the series has more bad apples than I thought. Still, I want to play them all* eventually.
*excluding the crappy mobile games and the arcade games

CotM is the only Igavania I have yet to play so I hope it reaches EU soon.

I actually wrote a fairly detailed review.
The music is good and while the level design is not bad (or even great in the case of stage 3), it suffers because of the controls. If they had given you a bit more mobility, added a stage or two and made hard more interesting it would have been a great game, but as it stands it's really only a game for true hardcore Castlevania fans.

I can't help you personally on this one, but maxcriden loves the game (exhibits A, B and C) and he's a gentleman of good taste. I've only played Wii Fit Plus but if that's anything to go by, it's a great game.

I can see exactly what you mean, I wasn't challenging you or anything (I hope you didn't think so), I just like the game and thought the person asking might want two opinions instead of one, but I understand well how someone can not like the game. I agree with some of the things you said, except that I think the level design is great in every stage, specially the third one! I think the controls are bad but very easy to get used to if you take the time to get used to them and are conscious of what you can do and can't. The game is not exclusive to Castlevania hardcores either since it was one of my first games in the series too. I also made a post about it recently (not as detailed as your review, though!).

So I found myself on the eShop thanks to a demo...anyway. Thing are confusing for Ufouria: THE SAGA. The description for the game doesn't state what it is either way. By that I mean it can't state it is a US version as it doesn't exist but at the same time it doesn't state that is the European version either (as normally happens for 50Hz releases).

The whole thing is a mess for that game as the music was optimised at the time (actually one of these Sunsoft games does the maths wrong and makes the music way faster than it should be...even while at 50Hz) and the US release on Wii/Wii U shop just took that version (so the music is left at 6/5 of the speed but gameplay is correct).

What about Castlevania Judgment?

Judgment was actually a very solid game despite the character designs.

As for worst CV game the front runners would have to be Curse of Darkness, Haunted Castle, Hod(the psn/live monstrosity) and Adventure. If we're including the MercurySteam shit then Mirror of Fate and LoS2 are up there as well.

The longer the PR is delayed the more anxious I get about not getting the Bayonetta 2 demo today.

Like over 15hrs long justified and the best MetroVania game for a handheld since IgaVanias!

I don't care if it's the best and most content-filled handheld game of all time, if you're going to charge $20 for a download I would rather have you throw it on a cartridge, print out a nice manual and sell it to me for $30 instead. $15 is the maximum I'm willing to pay for a product which has no physical ownership, no resale value, and has its usage locked to a single device.

CotM actually isn't an Iga game.

In fact, Iga is such a dick about it existing that he struck it from the old canon.

Which is silly, because it's better than any of the CV games he produced.

I just wanted to elaborate on my opinion since I realized that only saying ''the game isn't very good'' is not all that helpful :)
Different people like different things so having multiple perspectives is always welcome.

Oh, right. meant metroidvania Castlevania.

NOA POR is so bad and preoccupied about saying what will come out in 4 weeks time I wouldn't be surprised if they forget to mention it, even if it does come out today.

It's almost embarrassing how incompetent NoA is, especially considering Iwata was just recently "promoted" to head of NoA operations. I realize he has been sick, but NoA has gotten even worse since his appointment.

I dont really care about the limit, the game comes out in 15 days anyways

I never played the original and I just wanna get a feel of the controls and combos, so when I get the game I will be ready to jump right in with a shorter learning curve, I will prob only play the demo a few times away ways.

and I think later PR means we are getting the demo lol
