PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

Here's the thing, the neo geo collections were done by M2, they are well known for their handling of classic re-releases. Thing is much of their re-releases aim for 100% accurate emulation right down to any slowdown. MS1 and 2 did have options to remove slowdown though.
I'd get the MS Anthology collection but...dude that's like 700 MB isn't it?!

Metal Slug Anthology was garbage, and definitely not done by M2.

I'm pretty sure the PS4 version has some extras including with it so it seems like if you don't care about anything else that is the way to go.

Sounds good, could just use Remote Play anyway.

Does anyone know if Freedom Wars will be good? Sorry, I just got my Vita last week and all I have are some PSN games and P4G. I really want to get in on the MonHun clones, though (Toukiden, Soul Sacrifice, Ragnarok).

Nope, I'm done buying non-expanded versions of hunting games.

lol I don't blame you for that. But if God Eater 2: Rage Burst come to U.S. then I assume you'll buy it?

Also with how Freedom wars is getting a mixed reaction I assume it actually NEEDS an expanded version.
With region free servers

While I don't care about PvP, hoping the major update will attract more player base for this game.

I'm feeling so ill, all I can do is watch Netflix on my Wii U.

I think it's better you just try to sleep through it.

What are you guys playing today?
;)

Wrap up my 2nd playthrough of Neptunia Rebirth. Now Amazon told me that my order of Senran Kagura will arrive in November 3rd (that third world countries priority), I need to find something to play while waiting.

Maybe it's time to buy Akiba's trip 2.

if the mods bother to visit this thread, they will find that this is really just VitaGAF
-give us our own thread!-

Sony, give us a Vita revision with L2/R2 and clickable sticks please

Even the OP don't bother updating his post. Why would you think mod bother to visit this thread?

Really, why do they just, like, throw the info together to the OP so it looks like a PSN thread and then leave it completely?

Soul Sacrifice -> Soul Sacrifice Delta
Toukiden -> Toukiden Kiwami
God Eater 2 -> God Eater 2: Rage Burst
Ragnarok Odyssey -> Ragnarok Odyssey Ace
Monster Hunter 4 -> Monster Hunter 4G

...and so on.

It is so weird that it's so much of a given that a hunting game will have a "G" expansion in a year or so that we'd expect a totally new IP to have one before it's announced.

Not saying you're wrong for thinking it, you're probably right after all, it's just...such a weird genre quirk.

I like the idea. Just wish they would release the expanded games as DLC add-ons ala Super Street Fighter 4 > Arcade Edition > Ultra. Keep it steady, the whole two cartridges for one game thing is silly.

Wait, what's wrong with Freedom Wars? I don't understand what "non-expanded versions" means exactly. I was planing on buy a PlayStation TV so I can get into Japanese games and for developing a game in Unity, but since I found out you can't use the PSTV for developing games, my anticipation/hype for the console has decreased. So far the only games I plan on getting are Tales of Hearts R, P4G, Killzone and some indie games and Freedom Wars was looking good but now I'm loosing interest in the PSTV :T

I don't know what's wrong with it but I think it will later get an expanded version with new content down the line.

Why did I decide to watch the P4 anime? Now I'm depressed that it's ending all over again. :(

Basically a re-release of the same game with some more content. It's very common in the hunting action genre.

Sometimes actually they can't do DLC upgrades because they sometimes tweak the game engine.

Can't really blame Capcom if fans happily pay full price for the same game + some expansion. :P

MVC3.....

they don't seem to mention the aim assist function that i posted about on the previous page of this thread. hopefully it isn't true. As I said I find it a strange design choice for a game that have competitive multiplayer.

Doesn't call of duty have that on console versions?

so should I wait until the expanded version is released? Will P4G and Tales of Hearts R get expanded versions too? also... should I watch the P4 anime before I play the game or will I miss on the story (I've never played a persona game before and don't know anything about the story)?

P4G and ToHR already are the expanded versions, though they're not hunting games

The P4 anime is an adaptation of the game, so... no, don't watch it first.

If you're one of the PSNophobes, you should probably buy FW because there's no way the expansion gets a retail release
on Vita
in the west.

If you're interested in playing Vita games on PSTV, I'd recommend you don't buy that. You're getting a smaller chunk of a library that isn't exactly bursting from the seams with variety and future support will be even more dubious than the handheld.

Can't really updating the game when they change a lot of thing, even the system. The only thing you could blame them for is not polishing their games before releasing, but then I guess they don't have that luxury of time and budget to keep delaying the game for further improvement and revision.

PSNophobes?

A PSTV is way cheaper than a vita, besides, most of the good games are compatible with it and its seems Sony will require all future games to be compatible too.

So these were my first impressions on Spelunky last week.
Downloaded Spelunky, first time playing.. haven't seen any gameplay on it either.
Guess I'll finally find out what's the big deal about it.

edit: Well, played for about 30mins. I enjoyed Rogue Legacy but this one isn't my type of game sadly.
I couldn't have been more wrong. I'm so addicted to it that it isn't letting me play any of my other Vita games.
Maybe Senran Kagura coming this week will finally break me free from it.

New MUSYNC update.

Wiped all my old scores, but it seems they overhauled some UI stuff that I found a bit rough when it first came out. Song selection is generally faster now, changing modes is very quick now (but difficulty is still a loading screen apart - faster than I remember though).

Two new DLC songs for $1.85 AUD
Doomsday DISCO (Trance Remix) - It's in the title, trance remix of Luo Tianyi vocaloid song.
Solarwind (MUSYNC.ver) - Electronic dubstep track, no vocals.

Didn't buy any of the new tracks though. I figured MUSYNC would follow more of a Cytus Lambda approach to new content, but now I'm not so sure.

New MUSYNC update.

The US pricing is $1.29 per song. Honestly, I can't buy rhythm game songs at $1 or more per song if there's a high-volume release schedule - you quickly get swamped in purchases that way. Cytus on iOS was both cheaper, at 50 cents per song, and far less frequent in releases.

Also, Solar Wind is another song taken directly from Cytus. There weren't a lot of mainland-China songs in Cytus so I don't expect too many of these, but it just makes it harder to pay again for the same song.

I can see the appeal, but it doesn't really draw me in enough to justify the stomp-on-your-balls style difficulty. Glad games like this can come to home consoles and portables now though.

PSNophobes = people afraid to buy content on the PlayStation Store. Because of the Vita memory card struggle, you have a contingent of users that either buy physically or don't buy the game at all.

Vita TV has been out for just under a year in Japan and Sony themselves have since shipped games not compatible with it. But if you like what you see, go ahead, I guess. As a Vita owner I look at that compatibility list and just shrug.

The last update had three new songs and only one of them had to be purchased and I was generally okay with spending my small but somewhat significant moolah then. This time round we get two new songs and have to purchase both of them.

Buying it day one it was $10.35 AUD, but they've since dropped the price down to $9.55.

I think you meant reboot.

Where did you get this?

VitaTV released last year in Japan, and there is a Vita game released last week that is incompatible with VitaTV. There is no such requirement.

didn't know that, but what game are you referring to? and is it a unique case or are there more (new) games not compatible?
