"GT7 is going to be a game that matches the very era that we live in, in 2015/2016"

I wonder when the realistic racing genre is going to bottom out like Rockband and the musical instrument genre. Eventually, you would think that they would all converge on graphics/physics and there would be nowhere left for them to go.

I can only guess that by "era we live in" or whatever he said that might have gotten lost in translation probably means always connected / always online. Maybe an online open world game like Horizon 2?

Man let's see some real damn engine sounds and a better physics model then we'll talk. I love GT as a series but PD fucked up on Gran Turismo last gen.

2016 is what I expect.

GT5 is still the greatest racing game of last generation. I applaud PD's ambition though it does not work in their favour sometime.

Cannot imagine how good GT7 will look and hope for some of these features kaz mentions here:

Well hopefully it means it will have cars that are new...

Mclaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari, Lamborgini Veneno, Koenigsegg Agera R, ect....

That would be a start. Very few new cars in gt6.

lol @ all the haters, so its an awkward phrase from a non native speaker, how are you guys at advertising your products in Japan? I know what he means, it is obvious. Instead of spending so many man hours trying to squeeze his vision into 256mb of memory, AND to out-do the previous versions which were already nearly miracles on the hardware, he now has a platform that won't get in the way and believes that he can fully realise a driving simulator that fulfils the expectations of the current generation of gamers.

I'm happy that he is excited, and I'm sure that GT7 will be a large step over GT5 and GT6 because clearly he did most of what he could do realistically do with the first PS3 Gran Turismo -- subsequent iterations were a bit too much struggling to fit more.

Can already see the eurogamer review.

"Its too modern and lacks romance and passion."

More like "something opined something something opined, overused thesaurus. She opined offense at Japanese chauvinist ideas of penis shaped cars driving through tunnels and I agree with her. Cognitive dissonance; darker skin, cultural relativism. It'll be a long wait until GT 8. GT7/10"

I just hope that they put as much effort into it as they did with the PS3 games on the technical side, the weather effects and premium cars rival current PC racers still and the handling is still the best. I see a lot of companies making the same games they used to, upping the graphics a little and just letting the tech get bloated to save money on programmers.

No matter how much memory you put in consoles the new found space is stuffed with profits. I just want a GT game that impresses me the same way the first GT did. Especially "high res mode".

PD is a developer with its priorities in all the wrong places.

I look forward to see what kind of crazy stuff they can do with the PS4 that obviously wont include things like a new career mode, modern controls or a chase camera that isnt glued to the bumper of the car.

I am going to guess this will be the time they fix the sound though. So baby steps. And I bet the GTR's will look fantastic on whatever small number of tracks they actually build targeting PS4 spec and not the PS3 or PS2 port jobs.

And you know they wont fix any of these things and that will be the case how exactly?

Also, why would you play a game like this using chase cam?

And what in the world does "modern controls" mean?

I really hope with all my heart, Polyphony succeed in whatever vision they have.

They've been around for ages. They are the pioneers so to speak. It would be sad to see them stagnate even further.

For me, I hope the audio takes a priority and that quality over quantity prevails in all aspects...that means no standard bullshit anywhere..

I always thought it strange that when you first start the game you've got throttle and braking on the face buttons.

At least you've been able to configure all the buttons to your liking. At least as far as I've seen since jumping in at GT5.

A riddle I'm not interested in solving. Just show me Kaz. Show me a racing sim that once again commands my attention like GT4 did. No more half baked, and/or stupid, and/or outright missing features. No more compromises to performance.

Glad to hear they're feeling confident. I'm still playing GT6 and while it has its visual moments it certainly feels like it's just barely reaching performance and graphic goals.

I will not waste any time getting into pre-hype.

- Driveclub now
- Possibly Project Cars later
- Then maybe months after that, we might get a 10 second in-game clip of GT7 Pre Prologue Preview Edition Demo Jr.

The difference is that there's constant interest in newer cars and also actual research being done on rendering technologies. Rock Band seemed to have fizzled out because it didn't try to innovate.

First time you start up GT6 it throws you into a tutorial where you're stuck with the default controls, some of their ideas are so damn weird.

That and you can add different modes or types of races. GT5 introduced go karts, which some people thought was stupid at first until they played with them and realized how fun they were. And GT6's most recent update added a new mode called Time Rally, which basically turns the game into Outrun. I'm hoping that they keep that and expand on it for GT7.
