"GT7 is going to be a game that matches the very era that we live in, in 2015/2016"

I'll take ears over self congratulatory PR any day of the week.

You didn't address the tire squeals either.

The game's audio is accurate. They could of juiced up the engine notes and muted the tire squeal, but they went for realism (which is sort of strange for an arcade racer).

Motorcycles seem like a lock with the Isle of Man reports/rumors circulating. Takamasa Shichisawa (TT's director) is also back at Polyphony.

Iirc there was also a build of GT5 which had motorcycles in.

- Major updates still coming for GT6
- Reiterates the difficulty they had with the PS3
- Regrets mistakes in the last two titles
- Doesn't deny possibility of motorcycles for GT7

Been hearing this a lot. Now that the PS4 is relatively easier to develop for than the PS3, I'm expecting even greater things from PD. I do wonder what kind of things the PS3 prevented Pd effectively implementing into GT5/6?

I dont think the PS3 prevented them from implementing or putting in anything, I think it's just poor management and use of resources.

I mean, they spend time doing these really richly detailed backdrops for higher asset vehicles and shit to park in so you could take photos. What was the point? When your next generation flagship racer uses previous generation models to flesh out its content (in this case both car models and tracks) and you still havent addressed core fundamentals people have been asking for (tire squeals, those horrendous engine sounds) then something is seriously wrong.

I still cant believe they even had the audacity to try it, let alone do it again with their next title; and its not like there were under the hammer to force the game out, they had years to sort out that shit. How they got away with it and more interestingly how anyone can defend that nonsense is beyond me, if it was Forza, NFS or any other racing game using last gen assets etc they'd be absolutely crucified.

Wasnt it Kaz that said 'we arent sure about damage modelling, we dont want to implement anything unless it works perfectly?' Yet GT5 and 6 were exactly that, lots of half done content and features. Some vehicles had damage, many didnt, some vehicles were fully modelled, otherwise were ripped from last gen, some new tracks, some just ripped from the previous games. For everything they did really well, they did just as much if not more that was incredibly half assed.

Sorry for the rant but honestly, I dont know a single other game that was so successful that has so woefully addressed complaints from previous titles and treated fans with such complete contempt.

I think you're mixing things up. GT5 sold 11 million despite being criticised by the media, its online was massively popular and the game still selling well to this day shows that it was a hit with the community.

Standard cars always gets brought up but it can only be seen as a positive. Would you rather have 400 premium cars or 400 premium cars with 600 standard cars? Obviously the latter option makes more sense and benefits the player far more. Some of the best cars to drive are standard cars. I cannot tell you how many times I have raced the Yellowbird around Nurburgring. At the time GT5 came out you have to remember it was very breathtaking and still is today. It allowed 16 cars to race on tracks with dynamic night and day transitions and dynamic weather. It had karting, Nascar, and rally. A lot of the stuff wasn't fleshed out, probably due to them spreading themselves across so many areas, but I'm still glad that they included all those areas.

It was E3 2006 GT:HD demo, GT5 never had such (publicly seen) version.

Oh but its a nice indication that PD don't consider GT a a car only series.

And it would take 10 years to develop.

Well if you had bothered to read the title its clear GT7 is coming out 2015/16.

Hey, the famous Translator San is back.

A smaller, good looking bag, or a bigger mixed bag? I will take consistency, thank you.

I don't consider that an acceptable response. Now if you were to argue that the standard cars were preventing more premium cars from being available, I'd at least entertain that thought.

plus the vehicle laser scanning session in italy for gran turismo ps4, they had a collection of bikes there. it's definitely happening banderas.gif

have milestone still got the moto gp license? they announced their new motorbike game ride for next year, but i haven't read if they're still doing the gp games.

Where are my original tracks Kaz? GT6 only had Apricot Hill, but didn't have any new city or rally tracks.

I want El Capitan, Costa di Amalfi, Citta di Aria, Grand Canyon and Seattle back.

Think of it this way. You go into McDonalds and have two options: The best burger ever OR the best burger ever with fries. Both cost the same. Which do you buy?

I mean, it's a flawed analogy because McDonalds don't make the best burger ever. However, humour me. :[

I really hope with all my heart, Polyphony succeed in whatever vision they have.

They've been around for ages. They are the pioneers so to speak. It would be sad to see them stagnate even further.

(((For me, I hope the audio takes a priority and that quality over quantity prevails in all aspects...that means no standard bullshit anywhere..))))

AMEN!
I put some in parenthesis, because it is my belief (I've been saying this since...2007) that last gen polyphony was ...entrapped by sony, declaring way too much stuff for what the hardware was capable to do, before even kaz was able to see what could be done.
in my opinion that was a heavy anchor that dragged them down the entire generation.

this time, well, the tables are set very differently. not only his work platform has enough & usable power, but is certainly in no way less powerful or is in any way handicapped versus the competition. so this time, he doesnt have to one-up anybody.
he can just do his thing. hope he delivers!

After GT5 and GT6, I don't believe a thing that comes out of the man's mouth.

Could not agree more..

Get rid of the dead awful PS2 ports to begin with, and stop with the duplicate bullsh*t as well (we don't need 5 or 6 versions of the same car!)
Other than that I expect some MAJOR sound improvements, more realistic damage, improved collision physics, livery editor (similar to what's in iRacing), racing modification availability for the majority of the cars, etc etc.

You can do it Polyphony!

To each his own. Not if you ask me. If you ask me the standard cars does nothing but takes away from the quality and consistency of the game. Especially when they show up as opponents in races, and you HAVE to use them in order to get 100% completion, and even more so in GT6 when they were mixed with the premiums in the dealership, as if we can not tell the difference between them!

I tell you what. I'd rather have 200 premium cars than 400 premium cars with 600 standard cars. That's how crazy I am, 'cause at least then it'd be consistent.
