PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

That's... pie in the sky. You paid $X for a license to download and run your game on your ps3. We didn't pay to infinitely stream it. Consider a game like any JRPG or SRPG (or any game, period, really) that people bought on flash sale, bought used, or got through ps+.. now you have people putting 100 hours into it streaming free off their servers? Never, ever, going to happen. It's not a viable business model.

Besides, they are not trying to solve the BC issue for the small % of people that actually care about it but don't have older systems. They are trying to make a service that appeals to people that don't own the core systems. They'll almost certainly put in ps1 and ps2 classic emu on the ps4 at some point. PS3 bc will always and forever be psnow because of Cell, and the vita won't get native ps2 emu because it's not powerful enough (so PSnow is the only viable way).

The idea that they should allow us to stream via PSNow for free if we already own a game via other methods is crazy talk, imo. It's a financial black hole of an idea. Demanding it of them, and acting like they're doing something wrong by not allowing it, is ridiculous -- it's asking the impossible of them, then getting mad they didn't do it.

Take a deep breath, count to whatever if you have to, then read what this person is saying because he/she gets it.

This service isn't free for Sony so why would they give the games to us for free?

Yeah people need to read this. People think that just because they bought the game at retail or digital they should be able to stream it for free. Ignoring the the cost that go with having to keep PSNow going.

nice to see you play one of the best fps on the system. better than shitzone mercs.
here's are the gotys ive been playing on this amazing handheld

Atelier Escha & Logy Plus announced for PS Vita, out in Japan on January 22
It's confirmed. Atelier Escha & Logy Plus will be released in Q4 2015 in EU/the west. Believe!!!

But this version is much sexier;

The artbook. The CD cover.

Wanted to get this game when it's on sale(because it's digital only in EU). But if I see these pictures..... Must resist. Must not import the game/"Let's get Physical Limited Edition" :X.

But it's not free. People already pay for their games.

All I did were just suggesting something to make people buy a PS4 in favor of keeping the PS3. I know it's not a problem in US, but in many places like Asia, people still hesitate to move on because they are still playing PS3 games a lot. Heck, even Japan is a prime example.

I don't think the discussion will go anywhere, though. Not like Sony would bother with people that has no interest in anything but the PS4 as of their current state.

Bingo, IIRC outside of Japan console gaming never really is the spotlight in Asia, even in Japan 3DS is dominating all the other consoles.

Not sure if serious.

...? PS+ games aren't free. What that poster was suggesting was to make the PSNow service a subscription based service. that's not "free". obviously.

***Alright, misread. However, that's what others have been suggesting since their business model came to light. I thought they meant that having the PS3 game + Subscription = PSNow game for as long as you have the sub.

I just checked the site and apparently no.
I have Muramasa on PS+ and the UE is coming up "purchased".

Oh well.

Should probably play the DLC since I picked it up last week..hmm

That's weird... because it shows as "buy now" for me...

I want to try it but one mistake will be $20 down the drain.

Edit: Well, I bit the bullet and bought it, it's downloading..... if my PS+ expiration date shows up in the Info page of the game then I'm royally fucked

ANNNNND NO EXPIRATION DATES I'M GOOD

I noticed a minor change on PS4 (or I'm just noticing it now). In the downloads section of notifications, whenever a game is being patched, next to it is a icon resembling a bandage, signaling the game is being patched up. Pretty clever.

I recommend Sound Shapes (all PS platforms) at that ultimate edition sale price. Beautiful, fun music platformer with original music. Plays more like a platformer than a rhythm game, a very cool experience all around though.

Very annoying trophies though. 1 is for beating the game, the rest are for "death mode" which is an extremely frustrating addition to a super chill game. On the plus side, trophies are separate for all 3 versions, and syncing a cross save means free trophies.

I didn't see a pirate skin in the skin packs compatible with Minecraft Vita. This is a colossol outrage. Will not buy.
Strongly considering buying it right now

I've hit a new low, I'm back to watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I can hear my games crying for attention, but I can't keep my attention span long enough to play a game for five minutes.

Lone Survivor: Director's Cut isn't cross-buy with the PS3/Vita version? That sucks.

I guess? I'm just more surprised it released at the $10 price point instead of something a bit lower or at least a launch week discount for PS+ subscribers.

Still, I think the idea that titles that exist on PS3 or Vita ought to be cross-buy with other platforms is going to continue to be the exception rather than the rule. I don't think that Indie devs ought to get saddled with that kind of expectation particularly when we're talking about 3 completely different platforms with their own inherent costs to develop for.

lol Duck Dynasty has next gen tax of all things.

Tempted by that Peggle 2. Feels weird to not have it on PC though. I just got SK and a PS TV and Borderlands TPS though so I should probably refrain for this week.

Anyone know if the Sound Shapes DLC is mostly worth it? Levels or just those stupid beat school things and level creation sets? I don't make levels. I already own the game but if they're done making DLC I might bite for more SP levels.

I bet PS+ is more the factor there, wasn't it PS+ at some point for PS3? I bought it for $15 and it was well worth it though.

Also most new indie games don't target PS3 anyway.

Just seemed weird because it's published by Curve. All of their games have been cross buy so far, and IIRC the PS4 version of Thomas Was Alone is cross buy with the PS3/Vita version. It was unexpected is all.

Sound Shapes DLC is mostly beat school, though there is one level pack - unfortunately I don't remember which one.

And yeah, Lone Survivor released with a Plus discount at launch, and it was later added the PS Plus rotation.

4J Studios needs to add an option to lock the frame rate at 30 for Minecraft: Playstation Vita Edition because it's all over the place. At least on multiplayer anyway

I thought I read it was capped at 30? So it's completely unlocked? guess that's a mixed bag.

*Any direct feed screenshots for MC Vita yet? Didn't see any in the OT earlier.

Someone from the Vita lounge had said it was locked. Maybe it was locked during preview events? Maybe they just aren't good at telling frame rates? The frame rate is unstable but its nowhere near unplayable.

Give me a second. I'll go take some and post them here and in the other thread

Awesome. Thank you kindly. And yeah, I am bought in to the rumour that the delays were for framerate issues, so it makes sense the framerate would be substantially changed from the preview. I think I'm gonna go buy it...

How's Guided Fate Paradox? I loved ZHP and $20 seems pretty good, even just to ogle at that delicious Noizi Ito art.

While I didn't end up finishing the game (not because I didn't like it, I'm just terrible at finishing games lately), I loved what I played. As you already know, the art is gorgeous, but I also enjoyed the writing. Of course the gameplay is great as well. If I ever find the time I should really play more of it.

So yeah, definitely recommended.

It's really good, especially for that price. Just be warned, if you plan on doing the post-game stuff, it's BRUTAL. The main game isn't too bad (save for a couple of the later bosses), but the post-game is just...whew. It's nuts.

But yeah, go for it. If you loved ZHP, you'll love Guided Fate.
