Predictions:
  • L announced, with name and numerous consumer facing features. Released on Nexus 5, 4, 7 (2013). Nexus 10 and Nexus 7 (2012) will not receive L. Remaining GPE devices to be updated mid-November.
  • Nexus 6 will be announced, will be slightly more expensive than the N5. Will be available on all major US carriers and a number of international ones and some brick and mortar/online stores. Release in early November. Will not have expandable storage, but all other rumours are true.
  • Nexus 9 announced, available for preorder today, to be released in late October through the Play Store and Amazon initially.

EDIT: I suspect Android Wear 2.0 is available from today, will be based on L.

I'll have one of everything please!

I was thinking about getting the Note 4 when my contract is up next month but now I'm leaning towards this beast.

Is the blog that was linked a few posts above mine the place where it'll be announced?

Nobody knows. We shouldn't even know its coming today really.

Come on, announce this shit! Not because I want the N6 (happy with my N5, should hold me over another year), but because I'm dying for some L goodness!

really going to test my patience when they don't launch L until the 9 and 6 launch. which is sounding more and more like Nov 3

We will probably not see any L in our Nexus 5's until some time in November.

Unless Google surprises us and starts the OTA roll-out on the same day they announce the new hardware.

But yes...my ADB is ready!

One of the reasons 5 was somewhat popular was because of its price point. No way in shit am I going to buy it for 500+. Thats just ridiculous.

It would go completely against what Google has been doing for the entirety of the Nexus' line existence, I don't think those prices are accurate.

I really really need that Nexus 9. I hope the expandable memory is true. While I'm fine with just 16, having native expansion would be fantastic.

The article I just read on Forbes said the guy had been told by his source that it wasn't, contrary to previous rumours.

Same, but everyone else still says yes. So I'm hoping. Won't be a big deal if not, I'll still go for the 16 as 100 bucks more for the 32 isn't worth it, especially if Nexus Media Importer still works and I can just continue to use my 64gb thumbdrive with it.

Anyone know what time Google updated their blog to announce the Nexus 5 last year? Maybe it will be the same time today.

i remember buying last year around 1pm est

edit: i lied. went and checked on google wallet. made the purchase at 2:02.

Yeah, I know, probably gonna be a while. Took the N4 two weeks to get KK after the N5 was launched, I think. But maybe with the dev preview already being out there, and stuff, it could be faster this time? Ah, probably not. :( But in any case, the N6 being launched should surely open the floodgates for L info at least? There's still quite a lot we don't know.

I'd bet around 6pm or 7pm BST (i.e: 2 or 3 hours from now).

UPDATE WEDNESDAY Y'ALL! Oh man, if nothing else, I want Play Music's material update.
Cool.

Look forward to what they'll show. Not interested in buying a phone this year but this is still pretty exciting.

I'll put it this way, if it's true that the Nexus 6 will be on major carriers in the US, even with Verizon and costs less than $500 for a 32GB version, I'll suck up to the bigger size and actually buy it. Hell, I'd at least get back $300 for my used GS4.

Unless Google have figured out a way of forcing major carriers to allow them to run updates through their channels, I doubt they'd ever deal with Verizon ever again. The LTE Galaxy Nexus was often 6 months behind in updates because of Verizon.

Honestly, I have no idea why Google should have issues with that sort of thing. Doesn't Apple and MS have their own channels to directly update people? I understand that it's because Android is way more open, but yeah, I would think Google should be able to make deals with companies to be able to directly update Nexus devices.

You are right though, Google got super pissed at Verizon for the Nexus bullshit.

Do I need to update the Play store with a cc to buy the phone when it's announced or can I keep it like I have now and do bill to phone bill?

What are people's experience with the Play Store vs Amazon? I was thinking of going Amazon since I use them a lot and have Prime, but is the Play Store more reliable with this kind of stuff?

I personally can't stand the Amazon app store, it's a total mess. Now granted the Play store isn't perfect but I would go with the play store over amazons shit any day of the week.

I meant hardware wise. I hate Amazon App store I think I had it installed for like a week and just dumped it.
