PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

Is there a way to safely shut down a PS4 while it's in standby mode without going through all the trouble of booting it and then select the option to turn it off? It annoys the hell out of me whenever I want to move my PS4 between rooms.
Press and hold the power "button" until the PS4 turns off, maybe?

Edit: Top of the page, buy Hatsune Miku Project Diva f on sale if you're in Europe and PDF 2nd next month.

So...I used to be a Vita owner, but I sold off my OG model and today, I decided to get the new model (because I've been in the mood to play DJMax, which was ironically, the only game I kept), so yeah, I'm a Vita owner (again)! Now, I just need to rebuy Persona 4 Golden and get some games I haven't played before (the only other game I cared about getting again was "free" through PS+ a few months ago)

GAF is Evanescence confirmed.

Someone sell me on Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth.
I've been on the fence for a while since I don't know if I'd enjoy it.
I remember trying to watch the anime for it like a year ago but I couldn't really get past the first episode without getting bored/losing interest.

I'm seriously getting pissed with Neptunia. Why the hell is everything in the Lastation dungeon two shotting me and I'm already Level 7!?

You get to enjoy everything you love about console wars but without angry fanboys! What's not to love!?

Just got Minecraft Vita for free, thank you french PSN<3.

For those who want to try it you have to add the PS3 demo in to you're cart and "buy it" then you do the same with the Vita version (not sure if obligatory) then you "buy" the PS3 version of the game and you'll have the Vita version since the game is cross-buy. It might work on the EU PSN.

Because:

Ahem, it's basically a mix of video game references/humor (mostly japanese but some western...some), humor relating to anime tropes (if someone is a tsundere they will be explicitly called out/mocked for it). If you can't enjoy video game references (from the general to the explicit) you won't get nearly as much enjoyment out of it, but...you probably also wouldn't be on NeoGAF either. Lots of the enemies are references to either specific games or generic "RPGs would probably have this right" style enemies.

Combat is fun, it's a bit like Quest 64's combat system where you move around in a ring on your turn and aim an AOE panel for your attacks, with a variety of normal attacks (with a build-your-own-combos system), special attacks (magic, buffs, skills, you know), EXE attacks (big super attacks that you recharge by hitting enemies a lot), and CPU mode (transform to deal more damage). Cobmat's pretty good in Rebrith and performance is pretty solid (prior games have some issues, especially the first game which is why this is a remake!)

It's not super long, maybe 20-30 hours for the first playthrough. It has good visual novel tools for reading the dialog (or skipping it), dual audio. Also very cheap character DLCs that add fully realized and voice acted characters (for battle only, it's not story relevant), tons of characters to play as.

If you wouldn't enjoy the humor/aesthetics I think it's possible to still enjoy the combat but I wouldn't personally recommend it if you don't. Here's a random snippet of some of the humor I like in it:

Are you doing the optional dungeons and fighting most normal monsters you see? Because you should do that. Also buy life rings ASAP, they add a ton of health, at least one extra hit from almost every boss.

Also stay away from the orange enemies on the mini map if you're not, those are not normal enemies.

Are you sure that's not just the demo version?

I just received my 64gb memory card and it's no where near enough to cover all my games! I only have about 3gb left by transferring my Vita games, I don't even have enough space for my PSP/PS1 games. Gotta delete some games now. D:

I just beat Natural Doctrine on Vita (lethal difficultly) and stand by my solid recommendation of it for anyone who likes tactical games. Difficulty was challenging at first, especially as you're learning the systems, with a nice curve of 'my characters are getting badass' that finally plateaus around 80% through -- just as you think your characters are OP the final few missions present challenges again. Proper skill setup really helps.

I can provide tips/advice for anyone that needs it.

I'm just meh right now... reading annoying things about PS TV's media app support, how Netflix has no plans to support and it would be on Sony to handle their own app again...

Never fall for that stuff. Netflix will support it, they support everything and everything. There's even posts now from Netflix saying they will. Email the wrong customer service rep and you'll get the wrong answer to the simplest questions, and it's a shame gaming journalists don't double check with multiple sources before posting inflamatory articles..

That moment when you realise you've got waaay too many games to fit in your new 64 card

:(

Power button? iirc you need to hold it down instead of tap so it doesn't turn on.

I do not understand the bolded. You are basically buying the ps3 version? Of course you will get the vita version free.

Any of you awesome Minecraft vets out there know how long items stay on the ground after you die?

I was swarmed after a mat run, and I vaugely remember where it happened, but I have *no* idea exactly where. I am about to go back home to sleep to make daytime come back, because I have nothing to defend myself with.

It wont be the end of the world if they are gone...but dang that was a fair amount of mats I'd lose ;_;
