Fighting Games Weekly | Oct 13-19 | The World Ends Ryu

I honestly don't notice the difference.
It's a ton of smaller things that make the difference. Trophies having to sync as opposed to automatically, painfully slow PSN servers (at times; PS4 is better than PS3 in this regard at least in my region), lack of TrueSkill and slow matchmaking (experience wth Naughty Dog games), PS button not taking you directly to overlayed notifications etc. Some of these I wouldn't even call small.

Saw this tweet and wanted to reply to UltraDavid

Let me preface that I stopped playing at SF4AE which I think I stopping playing around the time AE2012 was announced

In Super, Dudley only had explosive damage and dizzy to carry him. His normals sucked, he would die horribly to far reaching lows like Ryu crMK, Chun crMK, Guile crMK. He has like nothing more to do that the basic for wakeup. His oki game was useless outside the corner, crMK sweep was pretty slow. So he just died to Cammy, Ibuki, Fei, Akuma, Sakura, Chun, Guile, Ryu, etc.

In AE, they added pushback on sHK so he lost CH sHK links, they made sHK xx duck worse on block (it was really safe in Super), sped up crMK and gave EX Duck (which added more to his damage and dizzy output along with punishing more moves that LP/MP didn't reach). I think some things had extended hitboxes and something changed with Jet Upper making antiair trades with it something you want to do.

In AE2012, I think this is where he gained FA Forward Dash better on block, improve his fMP which actually hit low enough to counterpoke some crouching normals and did enough on CH to link into sHP, I think something changed about sHK that was good, LP MGB was safe on block. Best thing was nerfs to everyone else.

USF4 nerfed a lot of problematic characters IIRC. He got improvements but the best thing to happen was nerfs to everyone else.

Dudley was not solid. He suffered in the safe jump, cross up nature of SF4's system since he wanted to do low/throw/overhead which means just backdash vs Dudley, luckily it wasn't hard to corner carry with him where he could shine. If you liked the way Dudley played, you were better of with Sakura, she did everything + more. Or Cody, he had way more + on block normals making his frame traps game scary and better normals for neutral (crLK, sMK, fHK). Playing opponents that aren't scared to push buttons (like Xian) makes Dudley's life hell since fMK is stubby and his other great + on block moves (sMP and sLP) whiff on crouchers. crMK sucked for a while as a poke to challenge other crouching lows.

Dudley also has weird issues like Chun/Rose reelback making fHK sHK on wakeup whiff if done too quickly, crLK crLP sHK whiffing on Rog's wakeup. fMK sMP sHK whiffing on some standing characters forcing the fMK crMP sHK (2 1f links). And characters falling out of Thunderbolt on hit.

Dudley's damage and dizzy always keeps him in a match. His target combos give some easy safe blockstrings. Not sure if they fixed Short Swing Blow in USF4 but it's a terrible move if you don't EX it. He makes great meter.

tl;dr Smug is a strong and smart player, he is beating the players not Dudley IMO. Dudley does suck less than he did in previous versions because he was bottom 10 easily in SSF4 and SF4AE. If he wasn't bottom 10 in AE, then all his bad matchups were the ones getting played.

Note: I probably screwed up which patch the changes happened in but if you look at them all, you'll see he gained a lot since Super.
Rog has this thing where his entire hurtbox is shifted backwards on wakeup, that shit is annoying as fuck for sure.

I am buying Xrd on PS4 since my ps3 is now in my bedroom as a blu ray player. Not sure if I can justify a PS4 stick yet since it would be the only fighting game I am interested on on the system.

This Infiltration stream :P
It's been two minutes and I'm hearing Korean, Japanese and English. Different language every other sentence it feels.

To be frank, I'm glad that Xrd has so many newcomers over returning characters. It's so mechanically similar to old GG that just putting in veterans would give you something that felt like a graphically enhanced Accent Core with worse mechanics and fewer characters. New characters make it feel like a brand new game.

It drives me nuts when people go to the character select screen every game, such a waste of time. I used to play a dude who would smoke some weed in between rounds tho, or even pause in the middle of a round to smoke weed. There's a time and a place for smoking weed and that's between games. That's how the games are designed in the first place.

In the middle of a round is ridiculous, who can't wait till the rounds over at least? Were you guys playing 3s?

Anyone think 4v4 could be viable in Smash? If they design some maps around it, and it looks like they are, I think it could be interesting.

Pad because I physically can't play stick.
That's what I guessed- I don't have developed forearms and the reaction lag is horrible for me. Played piano as a kid + video games, so pad reactions are much better. I don't think Daigo and other players being super-jacked is an accident.

LOL most stick players are not "super jacked". Unless you consider Justin Marvelous Wong jacked up. And Daigo only recently got jacked, before he was fairly average, even skinny I would say.

If you're moving the stick solely with your wrist then you're doing it wrong. Most tapping movements are going to involve your fingers, at the very least.

The only reason I don't play stick is cause I can't properly lift my fingers on my right hand. I have no issues with my left the actual stick part.

lol @ Daigo being "super-jacked" let alone jacked. I have a 45 year old soccer mom that trains for me with more lean muscle than him.

Don't underestimate the soccer moms lol

I would say Daigo is just average for someone who's working out tho.

While I only picked up the stick with SF IV I never really played fighters seriously before so transitioning to a stick wasn't difficult. Plus all my time playing MvC on arcade must have helped.

That name is so difficult to pronounce :X

I have sickle cell personally and while it does make life hard this seems much worse.

Uhhh, trust me, I don't. This woman has the body of a 20 year old and will squat 4 Daigo's.

Daigo seems to be in healthy shape. But I wouldn't go as far as to call him "jacked" or even "fit".

632146 / HCB,F?
Think of them like 360 motions; except you don't need the up directions so you don't have to jump lol.
You could still do the full 360 motion if that makes you feel better.

360 motions are actually 270 motions where the motion stops at up, so there's no jump there :V
632146 is less fun than 632148

Yeah, you guys were right. It's the League fighter:

Sounds like it'll be a regular thing for a while.
