PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

Thanks for the responses, had trouble backtracking pages on my phone. And not sure if this is a case of SCEA being stellar, or MM being a Europe based company... I am thinking it is an SCEA standard operating procedure regarding the Vita and content acquisition.

any idea if you get the DLC as well?
I'm waiting for more lives since you spend one each time you play (yeah, freemium crap). I'll tell you asap.

Edit: ok, it seems that PSN is horrible since I can't access the redeem code option. Thanks, Sony. But I think that it's just the standalone game.

Here is something funny.

After the update of the webstore, they added sorting of the download list, but only on the video side.

Drop-down menu under each series:

One thing to note on this: this page won't show episodes of shows that are no longer on sale. I have some episodes of WWE Raw, but they're not appearing on the page, and PSN isn't selling them anymore. They still appear in the regular download list.

I wonder if Sony is oblivious to things users want like download list organization or if they simply don't have the manpower/resources to be prioritizing that kind of stuff.

Easy, just buy a year of Plus.

See if it was like previous promos where you can get $10 for every $100 spent, yeah I would get a year of Plus.
But I'll renew come Feb.
For now I got lots of games I want to get on my OLED, and gotta decide on what to get for now.

Speaking of which...I might get Ys Celceta retail come December. That game is 1 GBish and I gotta save up as much space as I can =_=

Now how do we convince those 20,000 new Vita owners to experience DESPAIR.

EDIT: Where's the cheapest to get Tetris vs. Puyo Puyo Vita from?

There's probably a lot of stuff going on at once with that, some of it reasonable, some of it bureaucratic nonsense.

First, it 'works' as is and has no sex appeal. So on any priority list, it automatically gets sent to the bottom of the list of projects to greenlight.

The people who really have an issue (like me) only have an issue because they buy a lot (like me), and since they buy a lot already, it's not like fixing the download list will affect sales (we still buy more).

It's probably considered part of the store codebase, not firmware, and therefore 'hands off' unless they're planning a storefront update.

Even though it's a quick little fix, for something like a live storefront nothing is really a 'quick little fix' once you take into consideration the ramifications of a mistake.

Basically, it's (probably) not so much that they don't have the manpower, but that no matter how much manpower they do have, it's forever at the bottom of the priority list. You see it all the time on big software projects - 20 minutes of coding will save some clerk an hour a week, but it just never gets passed in the monthly priority meeting..

This is almost definitely the reason. That said, I think a lot of the big publishers, etc underestimate the importance of maintaining good will of the consumer. Seems like Nintendo is starting to pick up on this, and even Microsoft seems to be trying to appeal to people more on the small stuff. But companies like Sony and SE just don't seem to realize that just because they have sales now, they won't always have them. Shocking Sony didn't ingrain this into their policies after the PS3 "arrogance" fall out.

That isn't to say it's not bad -- it definitely is. It's just that Vita sales are pretty horrid. I think 20K is actually up pretty significantly from the last couple NPDs though... they were like 14K I believe?

Refresh my memory what are the exact licensing issues that prevent the Crash and Spyro PSX games from being played on US PS Vita accounts, but are allowed on EU and JP PSN?

Activision owns the rights to the games. In all likelyhood, they want SCE to pony up to put them on PSN. SCEE has ponied up, SCEA has not. Either that or Activsion is -- for whatever reason -- feeling passive aggressive.

One of these days I am actually going to get around to this bloody series @_@

Hmm wonder if this has any relation to why some PSX games are on US PSN but not EU PSN.
Does SCEE have anything against NTSC games or something? Like is the lack of certain games having only Eng. language a no-no since they cover non-English speaking countries?

Persona 3 is pretty awesome. If it was a native vita game (higher res, better models) it'd be even better, though.

And I think the reasons I listed basically apply to every game that's on one store but not the others. That said, there are some licensing/policy rules that stick a fork in things. And then of course there are some companies who just don't think very globally.

ATLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUS!

I have an EU 3DS :V

I am so sorry. Though to be fair to Atlus, the SMTIV thing doesn't seem to be entirely their fault. The impression I got was that the deal they had originally fell through and they weren't prepared to do it themselves. Not trying to excuse them, but I do think that particular example in an outlier.

I have no idea what the 'exact' reasons are (I doubt anyone not involved does), but ultimately it boils down to two contracts were signed, and one wasn't. Given that many view Crash and Spyro as Playstation icons (this may be a regional thing?) they're valuable properties and as a result some parties weren't able to come to terms.

International licensing can get really, really twisted with media.

You have to add digital sales and limited editions sold through NISA's Online Store. Also, add european sales since the localization was one for both regions. That said, it must be close to or over 50k sales for Danganronpa 2. That's not bad at all.

Wasn't thinking of LEs or outside the US. yeah, it's probably a pretty solid number for a niche game on a system without a massive user base. Musou games have done worse :lol

If that's retail only my high guess is ~40k given that the vita has a massive digital only population.

Yeah, I'm sure digital made some sort of impact. Not sure I'd go as high as 28 000 sales though ;).

Forgot NPD doesn't track LEs. Yeah, I'm hoping the final number is closer to 50k, which is about what I expected/hoped for DR2.
