PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

Are you using the default DNS servers your ISP/Router is supplying you with?

Google's DNS servers are usually quicker.

Yea I always use Google DNS. Not sure how it would make my transfer faster. There should only be a couple of lookups when the transfer starts and I would hope the PS4 would keep them cached like any sane OS.

Gonna get Battle Princess, the Scott Pilgrim Ult edition (only missing the wallace DLC but eh), maybe Diva F. But I'm soooo bad at the demo. How does character select work in that? I like rin/len more than miku but it's kinda lame if they're solo. I also like the red drill hair chick but I don't know if she's even a vocaloid or?

Followed. Anyone else with a twitter account here?

I have a tweeter. You will never guess what my @ name is

The shorter the distance and the less stops between you and the endpoint connection, the quicker your PC can send and receive packets to that location which inherently speeds up your connection.

Google's DNS servers offer less hops between you and your endpoint as they're a part of the internet backbone, and therefore you'll have a better quality connection with a lower ping and quicker transfers of information.

Trust me, it helps - I've tried them all and Google's gives the best average result.

Anyways, you're using it - so it's not that.

picked up that miku game for vita, downloading

so freakin big

all the rhythm games are like 2GB++ crap

you would expect them to be small

Project Diva F has a shitload of assets that are only there for Edit Mode. So much that they moved it as a free DLC in the sequel, which is around 2GB without it.

Shame about Imouto. I didn't agree with his post, but he was a great contributer to Vita/PSNGAF.

----

Gonna pick up Miku (Vita), Battle Princess and Neptunia V in the sale and then never play them.

Anyone else that has noticed that Sony changed name on the online store from Sony Entertainment Network Store to simply put Playstation Store?
New logo too, I like the change and the site loads up significantly faster now!

So a question about PSN. I am from the states but live in Taiwan. So my console (PS3) is from the states and has a US (and JPN) account on it..NA being the main. I am getting a vita from JPN but gonna use my NA account on it.

I can buy PSN cards here at 7-11 or probably use my card directly on the console if I want to be adventurous. I have only received codes as gifts for PSN.

Is there a cheaper way? I have a US & Taiwan bank.

Thought I was imagining the speed. But yeah, definite rebrand. They seem either less ashamed of Playstation or less interested in "branching out" as was clearly the intent behind the SEN brand. I hated the SEN name but preferred the logo. Hate the shopping bag.

Yeah I tried with different things like adding to shopping cart and nesting into categories and it still went fast, yesterday for example it took 7secs to load a freaking coming soon page(on my 250Mbit/s connetion) and now it was almost instantly opened up. So definitely some changes being made there
There is no sen logo popping up with loding on it every time you click on something either it just has a small little bar under the menu(kind a like the youtube loading bar)

I just got Battle Princess and tried it out for a bit. Seems to be a pretty good mix of different elements from different games.

I loved HDN:V. I did play mk2 first, but V takes place in a different time line so you don't have to play the previous ones, even though there a few jokes here and there that would make more sense if you played the first games.

I still need to start Re;Birth. It's sitting there collecting dust next to SKSV and DR2 because of Destiny :/

can't decide whether to get
Battle Princess
Neptunia
and Miku PS3

hmmmm

I wouldn't recommend the PS3 version of Project Diva. The slightly inferior control scheme and the potential input lag from your TV makes the PS3 version less than pleasant to play. If you want the game get it for the Vita!

I have about $10 left after my Miku purchase. Should I get SK or get Freedom Wars next week? Don't really see a need to get both. Hmm...

Is the Vita version really that much better on Diva? I figured PS3 would be an easy win for me due to graphics, I don't really care about portability. But if it's $8 cheaper AND better...

That sucks. It's my favorite song so far, only played around ~10 songs though. Good to know it'll be in the 2nd game!

Remote Control and Tengaku are best. trust.

pretty subjective. some people prefer using the touchscreen to do the stars, some people prefer the controller. the PS3 version has issues inherent to being played through a TV, but this isn't an issue for everyone. And the Vita version is pretty low res. It looks a bit worse than Ys:MoC I'd say.

I didn't have any problems with the PS3 version. Platinumed it and all.
But I prefer the Vita version even though it looks like crap. Feels tighter and the buttons are better.

Oh Square Enix ...

Chaos Rings III Prequel Trilogy is 2.6GB on PSN. That should be all four games. Someone just didn't want to spring for the 3.3GB cart.

Hey guys. Just received my PS4 today and i'm loving it! But I have a question regarding PS Plus (I would ask in the PSPlus thread, but it's dead down there).

Me and my brother have separate accounts on the PS4. If I subscribe to PSPlus with My account, will he be able to play online on his account?
Or if he wants to play online he'll need to subscribe to Plus too?

Entirely possible. Just make sure the account with PS+ is set as the "Primary PS4".

More information here.

I prefer the Vita version as well but you should note that the Vita version misses 6 songs from the PS3 version which you can buy as DLC. Therefore in the end both versions cost roughly the same.

Pockett is reporting that there's a good chance that Geometry Wars 3 will be ported to iOS, Android and PS Vita: http://www.pockett.net/n24637_PS_Vita_Geometry_Wars3_sur_PS_Vita_iPhone_iPad_et_Android_probablement

They're also saying a super hero themed Sponge Bob game is in development for 3DS and Vita: http://www.pockett.net//n24636_Nintendo_3DS_Sponge_Bob_reviendra_sur_Nintendo_3DS_et_PS_Vita Because it's an Activision licensed game, it'll probably be poop, but it's cool to see SCE at least try to get some kid software.

Pockett probably isn't well known to most people on this forum, but I've been reading their site for a few years now. They're pretty reliable.

suddenly activision returns to the forsaken handheld

If only Activision would put Korra on PSVita. D:

Vita would probably get a port of the 3DS game anyway.

Speaking of which, has there been any media for that one? It's developed by Webfoot, the studio that did the DBZ Legacy of Goku games back in the day. It's been 10 years, so I doubt a lot of that talent is still there, but you never know.

Just played Remote Control, that was definitely intense.

I assume this is because of the limited Vita game size (only 4gb?) rather than it not being able to handle higher res?

Not really. I recall Ys: MoC is only like 700MB large and PDF is 2.6GB. It's a performance choice.
And the biggest Vita card size is 3.3GB or something.
Shame that Ys looks so bad when it's pretty low-poly and only runs at 30fps or lower.

Are the cards face value at 7-11 or are they hitting you with surcharges or something? If you're paying 20 for 20, I'd just stick to that since it's easy. If not, possibly find someone you trust in the states, possibly in a tax free state (not sure if that matters for cards, as I live in one). When you want a code, pay them (via Paypal I suppose?) have them buy it off Amazon (or possibly elsewhere if there is a sale) and PM you the code.

gimme now.

This post makes my brain hurt

I am talking about Miku. Higher res videos can get quite large (obviously), upping the res for 30+ music videos would've made it go above 4gb, I'd imagine.

I never played it but I'm pretty sure there are no videos in the game other than maybe the intro.

As for your question, just look at PDf 2, it's native res.
