Huh, didn't know this. I actually only ever played the campaign, though. It was garbage. Never touched the MP 'cause I played it with my brother-in-law and they live out in the middle of fucking nowhere with no internet.

It's a billion dollar franchise and arguably the most successful new IP of the 360/PS3 generation, enjoying critical acclaim and inspiring a massive community. Make no mistake it is huge.
However I don't think there are many vocal fans on Gaf. Sure you'll see the odd mention and when a thread such as this comes up you'll see people pile in but the majority of Gears of War players tend to stick to the official forums and various other sites.
Regarding a remaster; I'd welcome one with open arms. Gears of War 3 was probably my GOTG (along with Super Mario Galaxy). Don't let the nostalgia surrounding the original fool you, it hasn't aged gracefully (though still one of my favourite games) and is utterly outclassed by the sequels... though the horror is sorely missed.

Well if this comes out then I'll be spending the majority of my time glued to Gears Of War 3's horde mode. Shit was so addictive I capped at max level and restarted multiple times. Judgement was such a huge step back in that respect.

LOL. They sold 22 million copies last gen and who knows how many 360s. Series is fucking massive. Halo and Gran Turismo are the only two exclusive franchises that I can think of that are bigger (not counting Nintendo's stuff I mean).
Gears 1 and 3 are fucking awesome. They fucked up with Two.

Nothing wrong with good games going ever-green on new hardware.
And the Halo anniversary approach can make a tremendous difference to outdated visuals, in some cases helping levels flow better (the Library). Looks like GTA5 is getting a ton of work done to it as well. No doubt the work on the Master Chief Collection and The Last of Us: Remasterpieced helped to work out some issues with getting their engines doing 60fps.
Man, I love it, and these releases can provide the devs working on the next big game in a series some extra breathing room and development time, like looks to be the case with Halo 5 and probably Uncharted 4.
Yeah Gears 3 played so much better on dedicated servers if you had them, ie. DLC etc.
I'd get the campaign solely to see how they'd handle Gears 1 again, I loved the hell out of that game.
Unlike MCC though, there is no Anniversary treatment, and all three campaigns would pretty much just be straight ports. Still, having them at 1080p/60FPS would be ridiculous.

Gears 1 with similar Halo 1/2: anniversary treatment as a toggle is all I really need. And boy do I need it.

I've avoided all remasters this gen thus far except 2. Wind Waker HD and Master Chief Collection. None of the others have been worth it IMO. Don't see this one being an exception. I dont' like the idea of selling backwards compatibility to us in this fashion.

Wouldn't hold a candle to Gears of War honestly.
With Halo Master Chief Collection and a Gears of War collection, Xbox One is just going to be a go to system for me. Those two games were the most played games for me on the Xbox 360. Them selling Gears of War on Xbox One will also bring back some of the older, more mature gamers from 2006 who started playing the franchise from the get go. Who wouldn't want to see a classic game like Gears of War 1 on new hardware? Gears of War is a game that hasn't been touched in terms of formula, it'll be simply smart for Microsoft to keep it alive by letting others experience it again, and allowing for others who didn't have a 360 experience it for the first time.

Scalebound,Phantom Dust, Crackdown Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, State of Decay Year One Edition, Screamride, Project Totem, Ori are coming. Rare, Lionhead, Twisted Pixel, PressPlay are all working on new games, add to that Gears 4, Halo 5 and Fable Legends (plus Forza 6)
At launch they released Ryse, Dead Rising 3 (both on PC now, admittedly), Killer Instinct, Powerstar Golf, Max, Crimson Dragon, D4...
Theres plenty to go around thats not the 4 you mentioned and plenty of reasons to buy an Xbox One outside of those. Microsoft would be making a big mistake to ignore their core franchises especially as they're popular, which is why they keep making them
Companies like money, they're easy to make money from and the demand is there. Not many are developed by their original developer, Halo MCC has three other teams assisting (Saber, Certain Affinity and Ruffian) whilst 343i use their resources on Halo 5 Guardians, I dont see a problem and all the whining confuses me. At least with Halo they're putting in effort well beyond what anyone has done in a remaster in my opinion.
Halo MCC is a great collection in terms of content and value, and Gears needs less work doing to it because all 4 are technically impressive on last gen hardware but im sure they will come up with something to provide another great package.
