You manage IntSys: Advance Wars 3DS or Fire Emblem (Awakening 2)?

They are making Project STEAM right now, so I don't know if they can work in another game at the same time.

Advance Wars is the True answer. I loved Fire Emblem Awakening but I won't want to cut on its long legs by releasing a sequel. Also, they are already developing a Fire Emblem game on the Wii U (The crossover with SMT)

So yes, giving Advance Wars the awakening treatment is the way to go, keep the cartoony look and ditch the 2serious4me Days of Ruin style. Calling it Advance Wars Awakening would be Ace.

Business-wise? Fire Emblem

What I want? Fire Emblem

What will happen? Fire Emblem

There's no way they won't try and ride the Super Smash / SMTXFE wave further.

Saying what needs to be said. Then again it probably is just because I want another FE. I should probably get around to picking up a Wii cheap and playing the FEs released for it.

Or remake FE4 or 5.

remake of crusader chronicles + secret unlockable thracia 776 = goat fire emblem

.

They did Pushmo, Awakening, Crashmo, and helped develop Band Brothers P, Game and Wario and Paper Mario Sticker Star all relatively close together I believe. Seems they have a lot of manpower.

Seriously though, one has momentum, the other doesn't.
One got representation in Smash, the other barely.
The choice is simple, from a business standpoint.

Of all those you mentioned only one is a full game they leaded. I expect an Advance Wars Sequel to be as big as a Fire Emblem Awakening but that big game right now seems to be Project STEAM, so if we get a sequel for a franchise I think its fair to assume that Advance Wars its waiting their turn after steam its done.

But I'll love to be wrong, of course. If we could get AW by early 2016 I'll be extremely happy.

Fire Emblem Awakening was so mediocre, I would rather not get a sequel to that. A completely unrelated game on the level of Path of Radiance would be great, tho.

A new Advance Wars would be the ideal, though... Perhaps for the Wii U... Or even for the 3DS.

Sequel to Days of Ruin.

Edit: Actually, I'd put them on a new Metroid. Let's not forget they made Super after all.

It's pretty telling the franchise didn't even get a character in Smash. Especially when you consider the fact that Sakurai looks at which games are in development at the time the roster is decided.
Sami taking Snake's moveset instead of having a 1:1 Marth clone with a slightly different gimmick would have been soooo much better. :(

And I was completely against that idea!

Advance Wars; Fire Emblem is safe, and there's a very good chance that the next game released will make a decent chunk of change whether it's released a year from now, or two years from now. Advance Wars, on the other hand, could use a revival much like Awakening did for Fire Emblem. Or we must be forgetting that before Awakening, FE was considered a near dead franchise by Nintendo, and that Awakening was to be the last one.

As a fan? Advance Wars, no contest.

As a manager, it's more tricky. It should be easy to churn out a sequel using the Awakening engine, and it's safe to say that it would do decent numbers as Awakening both did decent numbers and impressed those it sold to. But if you're ambitious, perhaps you can make an Advance Wars 3DS into the kind of 'breakthrough hit' for the series that Awakening was for many people. If you don't do it now, on the 3DS, with it's 50m or so install base, you might never get another proper chance. Advance Wars is only good on handhelds, after all.

Of course, you probably go with the easy money but there's an argument to go with Advance Wars.

Too bad, you get project steam ;_;

This upsets me every time. Never been so underwhelmed by one of my favourite devs. What the hell are they thinking?!

God no not Awakening 2 unless it's a vastly superior game like how Eliwood's Rekka no Ken was 1000000x better than Roy's Fuin no Tsurugi.

Give us another remake akin to Fire Emblem 12, but for Leif, Seliph and Eltshan from Genealogy of War and Thracia 776.

Genealogy and Thracia 776 are the two that deserve and need a remake the most, especially with the reintroduction of relationship supports and dual generations.

Jugdral > Everywhere else.

If Awakening 2 is a must, get rid of the horrible pair-up mechanic and make it a Fire Emblem game again not a watered down auto-RPG.

Give us a sequel/prequel to Days of Ruin too. I want my Advance Wars fix if you're gonna mess up the Fire Emblem series again.

Advance Wars.

Now, a choice between that and a Fire Emblem game not connected to Awakening would be a lot tougher. I like FE:A, but it really doesn't need a sequel or another game similar to it.

"Give us a sequel to a game that failed horribly, just don't do a sequel to that very successful Fire Emblem game I don't like".

Opinions on games are fine, but there's only one viable option here financially.

Why not both.

Fire emblem in modern setting or advance(?) wars in medival times.

Try something new.

They could do both. I believe each series is worked on by a different IS team. The Advance Wars team is currently working on STEAM.

Fire Emblem in a modern setting is Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem.

Remake the SNES games that the Western world has never had a legitimate chance to play. Some of the best games in the series and I'd love to play them on a handheld.

I wasn't aware we knew anything about SMT x FE, save for it's existence.

Does it matter? It's a hypothetical situation and it's not as if we know what their plans are outside of Project S.T.E.A.M.

I personally would like either as I'm a huge fan of both series, owning copies of each and every game from them.

Regardless that wasn't the point of my response, the point was to express what I wanted as a long time fan for BOTH series.

I personally disdained the gameplay in Awakening, the characters and settings were alright but not amazing. I don't give two shits if they do another Awakening, they just better not fuck up the game and bring back what actually made the series Fire Emblem.

How they were able to make one of the best Fire Emblem games in FE12 and then use the same mechanics to water down the entire experience is beyond me. Make it more like FE12 and less like FE13.

I want both, but more likely, it'll be another Fire Emblem next to tie into Smash Bros and FExSMT.

Advance Wars.....I'm curious on whether or not they'd keep the Days of Ruin style, or go back to the dual strike/OG universe.

Personally, I'm admittedly one of the ones who likes dual strike better, absurdly easy tho it can be, so I'm uncertain of what exactly I'd want from a new Advance Wars.

did we ever get solid numbers on either? the only thing I found was from that one banned chartz website, and I'm unsure of how accurate any other numbers would be.

As FE was kind of dying before Awakening, I'm pretty sure it'll keep at least some of what made Awakening popular. I'm hoping they do a semi-return to form with different mission objectives, fog of war, etc..., but stuff like pairing/marriage (and possibly kids) is more likely than not to stay in, in some form or another.

Business wise, Fire Emblem. It's popular, it's character focused, and it's getting a lot of publicity. I would like to see a new Advance Wars game, but I have a feeling that Project STEAM may have taken its place on the 3DS. Luckily Nintendo haven't forgotten about the series entirely, since we did get Advance Wars on the VC fairly recently.

A more interesting question would be what style of Advance Wars game they make next - do they go back to the cartoonish style of the GBA games and Dual Strike, or carry on with the apocalyptic style of Days of Ruin?

A question for the ages. FE12 is great and it's a shame it didn't get an official localization. Fortunately the fan translation is really good.

Never did finish it (definitely plan to get back to it though), but even despite that I think I'd safely rank it up there with the Tellius games as one of my favorite FEs. I haven't played anything prior to the first localized game though, which is why I'd like to see 4/5 remakes. I know those are held in very high regard but I can't really be bothered to import and do anything with SFC games.

After Fire Emblem: Awakening I'm not sure I want to see what they would do for another Advance Wars. Though Days of Ruin was already entering that territory if not already there.

I hate to say it, but Fire Emblem is the better series. A mix as in Fire Emblem with Advance Wars elements (Time travel?) would be cool.

Personally I want a follow up to Awakening, but it has been far too long since an Advance Wars game. They need to throw those fans a bone

More Advanced Wars with changes to the overall formula to bring in more gamres.
Much like what we saw with Awakening.

However I would use Days of Ruin as a base.
Sorry AW1-DS fans. But I just loved Days of Ruin so much more than any of them

Fire Emblem, always.

Advance Wars can stay dead and buried.

I want a new advance wars game and wouldn't bat an eye if Fire Emblem was buried deep into the ground, and I hate that you're right and I'm not.

That said, I'd have them both buried if we can get IS to make a paper Mario game as good as TTYD. One of them is already down there anyways.

I'm pretty sure it has to be FE, from a business perspective.

AW will get its chance, but I have a feeling that they're going to let it sit for a while longer before they commit to a 're-imagining' of that series (similar to what Awakening was for FE).

Sorry if this is slightly off topic, but was Awakening really that bad (or different?) compared to other FE games? It was my first Fire Emblem game and quite possibly my favourite 3DS game, but I see it get a lot of flack from fans of the series. Well, maybe not straight up flack, but whenever it's brought there's a lot of "euuuuugh, not Awakening again!" like it's a blemish on the series. In a sort of "eeeeh, it was alright, but don't do it again" kind of way.
